Vidhyasagar: Making Quiet Waves

In the crowded bazaar of TFM MDs, I feel Vidhyasagar has carved out a unique style for himself. Starting from Nila Pennae, he has quietly contributed a steady flow of melodies.

His "Malarae Mounamaa" a haunting melody by SPB and SJ brought him some much deserved praise. SPB sings it in every one of his concerts. I would like to know more about his other efforts besides the two or the big hits like Priyam or Karna.

  one of vidyasagars's lovely number is from the film 'pasumpon' directed by bharathiraja starring sivaji ganeshan and his son prabhu.the song is 'adi athi kannil pattam poochi'this song is composed in rag suddha saveri.from this song vidyasagar has once again proved that he can give good music

  Aruvi - I would like to categorally state that MS has nothing to do with Malaysia. :-)

  BTW, Vidhyasagar is good. Believe me. He has potential.
  The sad truth is that potential and talent alone is not enough in Kodambakkam. :-(

  Sorry yaar:-))...I knew one of the old group was from Malaysia...so I guessed it, especially more so because I had read about people not being able to identify with ISP numbers...Anyhow, I don't recall saying you were 53:-)), just that I thought you were an elderly person.

  It's not that in this thread alone I refer `my son':-) Right from day 1 in DF, I had not been in any form of disguise, camouflage etc (except that I use a nickname)...:-)) Infact, one of the very first threads that I started was about `thAlAttu' almost a year back...
  
  May be some of my postings were childish (or childlike?) but overall I try to behave as mature as I am actually!

  Average song. You will forget this before you are done listening the 2nd song J. Also the charanam reminds us 'I love you you love me too' song(uyirodu uyiraaga)

  Beautiful song very folkish and fun lyrics by kadhalmathi. IMO Vidhyasagar makes sujathas voice sound much better compared to other MDs. Venugopal is not bad either.

  Pallavi is better than charanam. Rahmanish type of kadharals in between. Vairamuthu disappoints

  Mmm why every song is set to the same beat(fast)?This song is slightly better than the other songs but still nothing very impressive.
  Be patient to listen to the music(probably copied from some western score) that comes at the tail end of the song
  
  I don't know why Vidyasagar, whos doing very good in Malayalam, reserves all his bad tunes for tamil films like this(though this movie is made in 4 languages including malayalam) .
  I will advice you not to waste your money on this album

  I personally liked the song 'Devathai vamsam neeyo' the best out of them all...the Sujatha/Venugopal number was dropped from the movie.
  
  BTW, about the film....silly story but technically superb...one can just go see it for the cinematography. Jeeva definitly should get National Award for this...be it songs or scenes, brilliant taken.

  hey, Vidyasagar has made some great songs in Poovellam un vaasam, Vedham, Dhil and not but least Alli Thantha Vaanam. He is a very melodious musician the only thing he does wrong is to give the audience the ultimate style of his his music. He has been my favourite music director from the 90's to this century to this century. I hope he will reach the tamil audience but there are many other good music directors in tamilcinema like arrahman, ilayaraja, deva and harris jeyaraj. Does anyone agree or im I wrong....
