  In fact, the tune (I mean "manmatha rasa") was a hit in all languages where it debuted. The original malayalam song {"chinga masam vannu chernal" (meaning 'when the month of harvest arrives, I will make you mine")" in the movie "meesa madhavan"} was a super-duper hit and helped to make "meesa madhavan" the supermost hit of last year. The song also launched Jyothirmayi, the actress who danced to the tune as a top actress in malayalam.
  There is a Kannada version of the song which has also become a hit, which you will find is being played endlessly on kannada TV channels. I also understand a Telugu version is already out, and possibly a hindi version too. Kind of, it reminds me of "mukkala muquabala" of kadalan, of which there was a version in every language (even kashmeri!) in the 90's.
  Coming to "Manmatha Rasa", the tune has been made peppier in the tamil version by making the female voice raspy (sexed up?), and basing the song more on rythm than on melody (the original song was fast but melodious).

  its a bad song...i donno how that will ever portray the music sense in a music director,.....and the singer malathy is totally 1/2 scale down when she sings from the original scale...she shouts well..thats it

  This song reminds me of "yee aaatha aathorama variaya" from Payanangal Mudivathilai and "adiyee manam nillunaa nikadhadhi" from Neengal Ketavai. Nothing great to rave about this song.
