Let me start this one.(It had been there previously pls. forgive me!)
"Ezhu swarangalukkul ethanai paadal..
Ithaya surangathul ethanai kelvi...
Vaazhum manitharukkul ethanai salanam.."
Wow! Beautiful voice!

Heloo OSIG, your full name is oldisgold, am I correct?? Old songs are gold songs!! I like that!
I am in agreement with your post 95%
Obsession is fanatical also. No REASON in both emotion.
In your second line you are saying "critical evaluation." Naaz posts IMO about VJ or other music personality, gave knowledge and also examples, plus the langueage was marvellous, nice expressions of fair balance analysis. Original style also.
IMO Naaz is very committed (or dedicated) to good quality music. I think he is also a musician so the views had good backing. All IMO. I never posted in one full year, but now I am missing good posters in this site. "Naaz if you are reading, please post again!!"
OISG for eg. many pages back in this discussion he made a post on sweetness of singer voices. It is so far best post in all threads on the site, IMO. You can be the judge.

Is Naaz doctorate in Music?? I did not know!! But now I think I can understand why he is not posting here again!

Avr, if he is doctorate from reputed university and also speaks many languages (how you know all this?/) then his views have knowledge and scholarship. He has earned his right for having opinions and criticsm. Why that is excessive to you?? Authority is result of many years of reading and studying and researching and understanding thoroughly. Can you disagree??
Many people in this site have so many opinions but (like me) no knowledge or training or dedication to the subject!! IMO, I think that is more dangerous.

fellows like azad who admit knowing nothing about music might have found his posting informative, but to me, he remains a fanatic who lacked subtance to substantiate his views. give me one musically informative posting of naaz.i have also read some crap he posted about culture and all that nonsense. naaz, please do not get tempted into coming back. adios.

avr,
so honesty, frankness and intelligent commentary is a positive thing! But "excessive",to my understanding means negative. Naaz was misunderstood even when he explained points with clarity and neutrally. For a good eg. of excessive you can check the Ir-Arr discussions in this site!! All those threads are very biased and full of opinions and personal attacks, and very little analysis/discussion, IMO. Naaz and your exchange in this thread showed how much he was capable of answering many of your questions and doubts, with superb language and insight.
Maybe being a person with a thinking mind is unacceptable in TFM forums!!
avr, do you speak any south indian languages? Are you from Chennai or Mumbai? I can see that you have lots of opinions in many threads, but what are your qualifications? Please don't misunderstand this question. I also know many details about film music and personalities, but I cannot call it criticism or knowledge. It cannot be considered analysis or educated thought, only information, that's all!!
Hello G Ragavan. I hope you are not refering to my post!
IN the last 2 months TFM Page discussion forum has become like a reflection of TFM/HFM these days...99% is noise, nonsense and no serious exchanging of ideas and thoughts. Mostly kachchra, no class! Good posters are not appreciated or encouraged it seems. Do you agree with this summation?

Hello Azad:
Why are you trying to single me out of a whole bunch of posters? Becuase I disagree with what ur opinions might be?
There were definitely some questions for which I did not get satisfactory answers...

Hello Avr,
You are right about misunderstandings in this forum. Even after I told you the real reason for my question, you are mistaking my tone. I am not singling you out. But you are the one person in this thread who had many discussions with Naaz, is that ok for me to say? You have many opinions, but you also disagree many times with people who do not see things in your way. So that is why I was curious about your qualifications.
Ok, so some of your questions may not have received satisfactory answers, but that can also be the nature of the questions!! I cannot see a problem there! I know that it is easier to ask questions than to offer with good answers, and IMO Naaz did a satisfactory job almost 99%. Yesterday, I read many other pages from this thread after BM slandered naaz (has anybody know where I can find any posting by BM? He has not replied my request!!). BM is WRONG and a man with so much hatred for Naaz!! Naaz answered every query on VJs music, posted some good review copies and also knew more about other singers movies and songs from other languages. You can check for yourself. Why nobody is correcting BM's false statements?? Are many people against justice and truth here?? I am a retired fellow so have many free hours and I searched many pages from this thread for your (avr) opinions. Many opinions from you I can say, but nothing outstanding IMO. So I can also claim that you did not answer my question about your background and music qualifications satisfactorily!! :-))

avr, I am wondering why you can post naaz's bio/credits in the forum for everyone but cannot post your qualifications here?? Maybe you are modest or there is something secretive about your education etc??
That is OK. You can forget it if that is your wish.
This is something amusing for me...you cannot answer my simple direct question and yet you can state that naaz did not answer some of your questions satisfactorily!!
One more interesting fact I noted in the many pages of this thread in the past is that you always asked him questions and he tried to the utmost to answer, but he never asked you questions or expressed dissatisfaction with your postings!!! So who is self-(satisfaction)-centred in this, you can see??
Mr.Bakri, I am awaiting your directions to your posts of "substance"...maybe they will never arrive?? I don't know much (I can admit that without problems, my dear man) I am ready for good serious music education in my retirement years!

Hi Neels,
Thank you very much for the Song "Sabalam Salanam..." It was my nostalgic favorite....
There is another score....where vani jeyaram mesmerises listeners....
"Meghamae Meghamae Pal Nila Theyudae...." It will be very good to have that song too....
Thanks again..

Azad B:
You seem to be after me a hell of a lot. And then, I have even apologized to Naaz that I crossed my limits. Why did you miss this?
This does not mean that each and every thing he posted was 100% right. For instance I have been unfairly accused of having ethnic biases ...whereas I can show you atleast 5-6 DFers who will disagree that I have been ethnic or "prejudiced against south indians". There is nothing ethnic about anything that I say at all.
What I am yet to understand is this:
If one feels that KJY, VJ,SPB were comparable to LM,AB,MR,KK in HINDI, just because so and so MD took them....then why not apply the same yardstick to Sadhana,AB,... et al singing in Tamil. After all its Vidaysagar, Karthik Raaja, Ilayaraja, A R Rahman, Hariis Jayraj who take them, isnt it? You mean to say Ilayaraja did not know what he was doing when he took Sadhana for the two songs in AZHAGI? If ABs "shenbaghame" was so disgusting, then would he, the lyricist et al have allowed it. Why must they be termed as UNBEARABLE singers?
The line of reasoning Naaz followed was that the MD's and lyricist's decision is final. So be it. After all, its they who decide, isn't it? Yes sure. And our opinions are always ours and they are not gonna influence MDs. This being the case, we must apply this reasoning in every situation, even if its not in favour with what we think. And then thats fine with me. Also, why must one accuse Ilayaraja or ARR of overusing SJ, and their not using VJ as a prejudice...why because they aren't using our favourite artist? You mean to say they didnt know what they did when they took KSC, SJ? Why must SJ be termed a shrill singer here? Why must one say that VJ would have done this much better than SJ? You mean to say IR didnt know what he did when he chose SJ for that? (Note that I do NOT mean to imply that VJ wouldnt have been able to do it! Like you, VJ is my favourite too.)
No there is no need to be amused at all....I asked you to send me a mail with an assurance that you would reply...what was so amusing about that? Anyway, I would obviously feel awkward to post my resume here. In fact I am posting with my initials, while so many people are posting with pseudonames and nicks...but here you go. Of course there are DFers like you who are posting with real names (I assume that Azad B is your real name). Naaz knows 12 languages, I know 6 (4 very well....colloquial as well as from the literary and poetic point of view). I am not trying to compare myself to him here at all. His knowledge is of course superior. And he is a little less than double my age.
I did attempt to learn Hindustani classical (instrumental)...and I did do it for 3 years, but I had to give it up. Because I joined a professional course (computer science) and I was far too busy to take to any of these activities any more. Be assured that my academic credoes were quite good, right through, and I do come from a family of people who are very appreciative of art, literature, music and with excellent professional and academic credoes. I say this, coz you asked for it. If you want further details, you will have them by email.
Sure, sure I lost my temper way too often, was immature, over-reactive...I myself feel I should've played it cooler. Yes, definitely, and thats why I did say sorry to him,as openly as I fought with him. But I was and still am very hurt to have been called "anti-south". Thats what put me off, and I went a bit off control. I also played devils advocate too.
Now if you want any more details, proofs of the truth of the above statements, you can have them...but strictly by email. You post your email id, and you can have all the info you want.
BTW....if you had gone through my posts carefully, it was CLEAR that I did not agree with any Naaz slandering. Why did you miss this point that I had put forth, so distinctly? Why did you miss the fact that besides you and OISG, I have been the only one to openly voice my protest against that? Also, Naaz has earlier mentioned on this very thread that he is a doctorate from UBC. I merely re-iterated this fact. And oh BTW, Naaz and I have settled scores long back. If I were "anti-Naaz", I would have bad-mouthed him like some others in this forum. No, no...I am not expecting you to agree with me. I am sure you will still have a lot more in store...after all frankness is rarely appreciated.
Thanks.
