to know abt ur stupid bombay dreams i don have to live in uk dear. and paran tht bombay dreamz has'nt reach 10 million pounds yet. thts baseless information. they spent more than 4.5 million pounds to make that project. but its a big failior.
According to Lloyd Webber, The ordinary British Western audience is not buying tickets yet. They have no idea whether it will be a (sitar maestro Pandit) Ravi Shankar concert or not." Lead stars Raza Jaffrey and Preeya Kalidas have come in for much criticism for their performance in Bombay Dreams.

Only the indians who live in uk and their friends are going to bombay dreamz. this is what uk news papers say abt ur bombay dreamz.. inda latchanathula BD vera poga porangalam.. joke of the centuary.
The Daily Telegraph
Musicals finally stand or fall with the book and Meera Syal's script is a mess. she fails totally to find a consistent tone. Laboured jokes are combined with depressingly under-powered melodrama in her story of a film-struck youth from the Bombay slums who falls in love with the pampered daughter of a Bollywood producer.
The Times
Scenes that lurch into each other like blind elephants. A plot that disintegrates into a ragbag of sitcom skits on Miss World, women's lib and the like. The lamest ending in West End history. Trite lyrics. Cardboard characters. Dialogue that would test the patience of Mother Teresa.
Daily Mirror
As our hero, slum-kid Akaash escapes to the big time in Bollywood he and his cohorts fail to deliver many decent songs. By the end of the interval I was privately renaming the show "Bombay Nightmares". Fireworks, spectacular fights and tear-jerking romance save the day.

All these reviews were the ones which came days after its first show. Since then it has made history to become the most successful shows of last year.
Fake dinesh, don't use your ignorance to your convinience....come on...I am not going to try to shut a barking dogs mouth....I belong to the Sun's family...sorry buddy...you have to learn to accept facts.

Dinesh – A harsh rebuttal for you and your poorly researched comments!
Did U even read the URL - this is one of the biggest entertainment sites on the net:
http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_725230.html?menu=
To top this, BBC (undeniably the most respected news service in the world) also gives this information about BD breaking the 10 Million Pound barrier. Dinesh – are you now going to doubt them too?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/showbiz/2562325.stm
The BBC Review – in June 2002
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/showbiz/2053167.stm
The show had a standing ovation on its premiere!
This URL for BD extending it’s run to cope with demand:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/showbiz/2131851.stm
The above URL is when it extended it’s run till Apr 2003,,,,,, It’s May now, and they are re-casting and it’s been extended again! SO much for a failure, Dinesh!
BBC Music Album of the year (Easy Listening):
http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/easy/albumofyear.shtml
You are quoting really old reviews, which came out at the beginning of the show! It has evolved since then. If you read my post carefully (Which is a problem for you, it seems), you will see that I mentioned that it had a slow start.
It picked up so much that it is still running and is going 2 NY Broadway next Spring. It is still running full houses in the UK, where discounted tickets have only just become available, nearly a year after opening.
You are going on very old information.
Do the Maths Man - Spend 4.5 Million, Make 10 Million by January and it is now May 2004, with the show still running packed houses!
You maybe going on comments of your Tamil friends in the UK, who will only watch something if it is Tamil and will not accept that they are ASIAN not just Tamilians, hence not supporting this type of show – I certainly know many ppl in that bracket, they are incorrigible and narrow minded, that’s all I can say IMO ! Hence ppl like you slandering ARR and his work!
Go to:
http://www.aatrevue.com/News.html
It shows that casting call in US, for the show, in April 2003
By the way, please stop calling ppl Sweety and Dear - it sounds very camp!
And, to top it all, learn to spell please - FAILURE not "failior"! ;)
I would suggest you read some new information on this or at least get it from a reliable source of information. A July 2002 Review doesn't count for anything, because, a very rare thing happened with BD! The reviewers and papers slandered it, but it was a hit and a huge profit maker for the Production Company, Really Useful Group!
BD is something one experiences. You cannot go around making statements, without seeing the show or by reading reviews!
Sorry to be harsh about this, but all of this roots to putting down ARR, who has just completed a very successful world tour, also running packed houses. Ok, the Tamil audiences were not catered for, but that is because it was organised by some North Indian people. How many Indians can you say have achieved that?
Also, please remember BD was the 1st huge Asian Based Production, no matter what the reviews say, the people are going to see it, be they Chinese, English or Indian!
The New York Version of BD – due in 2004, and an article on this:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jhtml?xml=/arts/2002/05/18/bmbomb.xml
Read some of the positive reviews, it may help you experience it, better still, why not come to London and watch it!
http://www.epinions.com/content_2718867588
A new cast is coming in, from this spring! So for an Asian Musical, it seems to be here to stay until Oct 2003, at least, probably longer. If it were a failure, it would have been out of the Theatres much sooner!
To top all this, the Year 2002 was a huge slump year, for all businesses, don’t forget. The West End was hit as much as any other industry! Read more on:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/arts/2569925.stm
BD was nominated for awards, ok, it didn’t win, but the nomination is what counts, where the competition is fierce and the concept is entirely new and risky!
http://www.uktheatresonline.co.uk/spotlight/Oliviers%202003/awards03.html
Just tell me, which other Indian, not to mention a Tamilian has achieved this type of success! Success and failure are part of every great person’s career paths, in fact anyone’s career path, but you cannot put down ARR for his great success! He has actually sold more records than Madonna and Britney Spears combined! Which other MD in Tamil Nadu can claim that?
Everything is an opinion, but when it comes to hard facts, please try to back them up with hard facts, before defaming anyone!
