I saw Virumandi by paying extra.
Why KAMAL..? Why u proved all that told by K.Balachander in Virumandi VIZHA.
It is better to have directors like BHARATHAN ( DEVAR MAHAN ) to deliver a good interesting movie.
Virumandi was very raw and not able to sit in the second half.
Dont confuse the audience with ur confused state of mind.
Iam UPSET and my friends ridicule me as a fan of yours.

after seeing many postings here iam wondering the same thing that balumahendra once complained about the tamil audience! "why are they coming out of the movie speculating how long or less it would run? why do the audience worry about the commercial results? why not see the movie and make subjective opinions?"

Bala, Goutham was not just inspired by Ram Gopal Verma but looks like he has the habit of watching quite a few Hollywood flicks(as well as Manirathnam). Noticed the scenes when they try to arrest that guy and the cop cries out "Freeze!" :-))Or when they sit around and drink to the memory of their killed partner- "Ilamaaranukaaga" :-) Literal translation of Hollywood phrases into Tamil. The climax scene was lifted from Seven as well. And the funny thing is I read he is remaking this movie in English(?!!)

Cinesouth reaches its peak of hilarity by calling akira Kurosawa as akira Growsa here is what they have said in there Thenali section.
6 . Virumandi is a remake of which english film?
--- -Sundar,U.S.
Thenali: Its not a remake. But a lot of scenes have a touch of hollywood style. The screenplay of the movie has a touch of Akira Growsa.
Haha. guys keep on going to cinesouth. They provide good entertainment.
als, The Hindu has made a grave error and has credited Prashanth for acting in "Paarthale Paravasam". WHile Hindu credits Sonia Aggarwal for her performance in Kovil. Cinesouth has included her as minus pt in Kovil.

HEy guys,
I guess the anti-virumandi remarks mostly resemble people scolding Sachin for a very uncharasteristic run-a-ball century. Kind of run of the mill from someone like Sachin.
I still thought that a century is a century. compared to the stupid 20s and 30s scored by movies like engal anna, thirumalai and bunch of other tamil movies I am happy with Virumandi.
after lagaan and kannathil muthamittal no other movie made me forget tamil cinema stupidity this much.
Great effort Kamal.
And yes Visaikanth is a telugu naidu who breast-beats his tamil affinity yet talking golti behind closed doors.

V,
Obviously Cinesouth is talking about the HOLLYWOOD film maker Growsa.
The Kurosawa you're talking about is a Japanese dude, ain't he?
Now, can anyone tell me which Growsa film Virumaandi resembles?
I noticed with much amusement that, except for a few 'learned' fans in this forum, most other magazines are talking more about Roshomon and less, if at all, about Andha Naal.
Is it because they feel that Andha Naal itself could have been inspired by Roshomon (the pundits can correct me if I am wrong), or is it because these 'intellectuals' feel it is below them to talk about old Tamil films?
May be, like me, they too have never seen neither of these films.

Jacky,
aahh, thanks...i was wondering what made a nice person put across such an opinion!
And I guess we share something. Even I lie at times! ;-)
Bala,
Don't you feel Surya has matured a lot? Pithamagan and Kaakha Kaakha impressed me a lot. His body language and his dialogue delivery have improved a lot. I am not talking in comparison to Kamal's perfomances. You just treat Surya as a seperate entity and tell me if you enjoyed the roles? Just curious. I became a Surya fan after seeing these 2 movies! :-)

C~P , i 'm pretty much impressed with Surya's acting in Langur role in Pithamagan. But he didn't maintain that mannerism allthrough the movie.Thats where he slipped. He is improving since Nandha, but still he is getting biased.Thats what i'm worried about.I have a great hope on him.May be he could turn to be India's Edward Norton. But he has to watch out his steps towards that stardom.Kamal is a history.I would say, still none has born to bring the best out of that Legend.Being a director including Kamal, everyone failed to bring the best out of him.Its not the case with Surya, the directors already brought the best out of him.But he has to do a lot of homework and try to see how he could do justice to that roles...I read somewhere heard Edaward Norton when he was acting in "American X" , went to Nazi parties to get the inspiration.Samething with Tom hanks for the movie Philadelphia. He met the AIDS patients and learnt more about the descrimination on them.Never get inspire on the other actors.Get inspire on the real life characters. Then you will be the one actor , who could inspire lot many actors.

Bala,
This question is for you. Why did you mention only about hollywood actors who witnessed and got inspired by real people!?? We have our own Sivaji who did variety of roles, after watching real people. For example, I heard that to do the movie Vietnam Veedu,Sivaji had interacted with some Iyengar families. Same was the case for Thilana Mohanambal and so on. Don't you see and appreciate our own all-time greats?? Why do most of our people only appreciate and talk about hollywood actors?? Seems more expertise on hollywood than our own movie industry.

Krishnaswamy - Kamal's friend's name in Mahanadhi(Poornam Viswanathan). Is Kamal playing any politics like Rajani(to run the movie). Because there is a dialogue in the movie "Amma aasapattu vacha peru virumandi atha sonnathan naan thirumbi paarpaen".
