  Well we are slowly into the web now. In my feeling, mispronounciation has a thread difference from accent. People can speak with an accent still without butchering the language. How much tolerable is this? Well. It depends on one's acceptibilty. But mispronouncing a word would sometimes change the meaning completey ( ex. Malai and Mazhai) and imho that is wrong and unacceptable. Many singers of present age fall into this category. If they keep singing without realizing or without correcting themselves in their future occasions, I would put the blame on the MD, who is responsible. If we can still accept that, we too would hold the responsibility stick for faster erosion of tamil language.

  Carnatic singers butchering Telugu doesn't offer justification to Sadhana messing up her Tamil accent or SPB's accented Hindi rendition. Every singer has to make an decent effort to sing properly in the language of the song. Of course, a lot of people born and brought up in TN do not speak or know Tamil properly - vidhi, vera enna solradhu. How does that justify Sadhana's poor pronounciation?
  
  Lyrics are horrible too, these days, sometimes it is good you don't hear them. IMHO, part of what preserves a great song is the clarity of the words being sung making the lyrics reach the audience. Of course, I must say Sadhana has a great voice and her pronounciation, IMHO, has improved somewhat these days. All IMHO.

  IK - i did mean "TFM page" only..... sorry if i had hurt ur feelings.... what i meant to say is - there were times when some particular thread will have a continuous postings for 2-3 days - mainly IR-ARR clash :-)..... so this is not anything new.... but may be for the past few months, this might be one of the busy threads - especially the last few days....

  Just heard the telugu version of BABA. There was slight modification of singers for songs.
  
  It revealed how singers could make a difference for any song. Baba kichu kichu is sung by SPB, Sadhana Sargam in telugu where as the same was sung by SPB, Reena bhardwaj.
  
  The same song sounded lot lot better in telugu than Tamil. I feel it would have been much better if it would have been sung by SPB, Sujatha.
  
  One more difference is Karthik sang Maya Maya in Tamil where as Udit in telugu. As usual he is horrible. Karthik is much better than Udit.
  
  There is no difference of SHankar's song. I didnt like both versions.
  
  I was wondering why ARR doesnt take care of singers? In the name of variety, he is loosing songs which would have sounded better.

  Udit in telugu instead of Karthik.....Ayyo, ayyo...Sadhana Sargam instead of Reena, probably a good modification. I was not impressed by Reena's voice at all. She sure has a husky voice, but the voice is kind of vague and lost sometimes. Also, I personally think SS makes a genuine effort in pronouncing the lyrics well (I know she does in telugu for sure) but Udit is a thiruttamudiyaadha janmam. Listen to SS singing in the recent "Neetho" by Vidyasagar. She sang well compared to her previous renditions. She definitely is improving. And with the right guidance from MD and the lyricists, I am sure she can improve her pronunciation skills a lot.
  
  But I ,like many others here, do not want singers/actors murdering my language just because they are good at singing/acting respectively. Good singing comprises not just of the singer's voice, but also of the clarity of pronunciation, maintaining the bhavam of the song (which comes from atleast partial understanding of the lyrics) and rendering the song with the right breakpoints at the right time and in the right places throughout the song. I am OK if a northie comes and sings a telugu/thamizh song AS LONG AS he/she is willing to make a genuine effort to make their song sound native. I don't believe this is too much to ask. Also, SPB being tolerated (somewhat) in the north for some of Salman's movies is absolutely no justification for Udit and co singing in butchered telugu/thamizh. I don't support SPB singing in Hindi either unless it is for a southie character in the movie.
  
  BTW, NCR where did you listen to baba songs in telugu? On the internet somewhere?

  Please read all the posts from yesterday. You might have to spend a good 2 hours since you have to click "old resonses" link at least 7 times.
  
  Only 3-4 out of 15 people who posted have said something good about the songs and only 1-2 have actually said that they think the entire album is good. Everyone else has recommended writing off the album for good.
