her pronounciation is not bad except for some words...Talking about tamizh culture and language reminds me of one thing..Tamizh yai yaaru tamilnnu sollamal Tamizh nnu sollarangalo awa daan Tamizhar.. anda morai il paarthangalana..TN vil paadhi peru Tamil nnu daan sollaranga..arent they murdering the very name of Tamizh??shouldnt they then learn to say Tamizh ( not Tamil)..What i emphasise is the effort one is making in learning the language..Anuradha Sriram Sang Ishq bina kya jeena yaron In Taal.. she said Ishq'a' bina..instead of ishq bina. which is a murder. But Dint the people in North Accept her with Love?? S.P Balu In Tere Mere Beech Me ( Ek Dooje Ke liye ) had a pure Southy accent..if north people had condemned him for that. that song wudnt have been a hit.Singing Hindi is Far More Easier Than SInging Tamizh.Still namma aatkal are not able to sing it in the northy accent.I am happy for one thing that People from north and south are coming together .. removing the bearier..Enjoy the Music and CritiCise the music. But do not discourage any singer.. that will repel them from making any efforts to even come close to TamizhNad..This is a Hostile Treatment towards people learning tamizh.
More over this is an Insult to any Singer..
>> If she is a good singer, Let her sing in her >>mother toungue, or learn tamil and then try >>singing in tamil ... our language shouldn't >>become a saththiram where anybody can come and >>spoil it ..
Just because she is not pronouncing tamizh words in a proper tamizh way doesnt make her a bad singer. she is still an excellent singer!! and its not a kinda "spoiling" factor. It can be taken as an attempt made by a foreigner to south india to come close to south india. DONT REPEL THEM
Thanks..

The pronounciation issue reminds me of an old event.. When Jesudas sang 'Ninaivale silai seithu' in andhamaan kaadhali, some music critics had pointed out that he had pronounced 'Thiru kovile' as 'Theru kovile'...

thiru!!
Exactly .. and that reminds me of one more thing.. Most of the Tamizh Classical Singers Murder Tyagaraja's Keerthanaighal(in telugu )..Telugu being a close sibling to Tamizh.
Though it Lyrics are very important. It doesnt mean it is everything to the Song. Give SOme credit to the talent of the singer and the music..
and do not give any "Suggestions" to the MDs to encourage or discourage singers. If The music Director's creativity and imagination matches a singers voice then he would take him/her.
Sorry People if I am being very rude..

Is it not the mistake of a MD to make sure of singer's pronounciation? I would not reconcile with the concept of accepting that kinda pronounciation. Somebody has to accept the responsibility and try to correct it.Think what happens if it's like what JJJM said. After few years there wud be a situaion, where one has to look for a few well-pronounced tamil words in a song. It is definitely a horrific situation. (My feeling is we are converging toward that point) If somebody is learning tamil, yes, definitely they should be welcome. If they are rendering for public, they should be multiply careful to avoid any incongruity.
By the by, coming to Ek Duje Keliye, SPB was singing on behalf of Kamal, who was rather potrayed as an absolute Southee. Otherwise, for SPB's talents, has he not been suppressed there with intent??

Baba Audio Arrives!
By Moviebuzz
At last the most eagerly awaited audio of the year Baba arrived on Wednesday (July 31) evening to a tumultus reception. Rajnikanth fans have snapped the audio like hot cakes and by evening most of the retail outlets had to put out a “sold out” board.
If it’s Rajnikanth, it got to be pitched as a message audio. Baba is shrieking of messages and Rajni ideology. Rahman has tried to change Rajni’s usual jingoistic style into a more reflective and retrospective note. Take the ‘Baba’ theme music Ekamevadvitiyam(which means- There is only one paramathma no second entity) rendered with thrust by Srinivasan, which creates a mood of the album. As a fan remarked, “Sami Pattu Mathiri Irukkuthe” and there are far too many political overtones in the Sakthi Kodu number written by Vairamuthu which states Rajnikanth’s political ideology and is beautifully rendered by Karthik. Though the album has its usual quota of recycled Rahman hits, the old magic is missing. What is really missing in the album is a fast and peppy number. Though there is Dippu..Dippu sung by Shankar Mahadevan and Baba Kichchu, they are not dance numbers. However, the song that sparkles in the album is the hummable number by Karthik and Sujata Maya..Maya... Another song Rajayame.. is very slow.
On the whole, Rahman music takes time to become popular and probably after the film is released it may be on everybody’s lips.

Fliflo ..
SP Balu has always had the southy accent in many movies including Maine Pyar Kiya, Sajaan..So kamal hasan cant come to his rescue.
I do not intend to make comments on the legend..(S.P) i am a hard core fan of him. But the point i am tryin to make is that the song is in a different pronounciation..no doubt.. but that doesnt make the singer a bad singer...( I do not agree with Naga when he/she adviced the Music Directors about encouraging/discouraging. I found that statement a bit offensive

A kannadiga(super) singing duet with a Nepalese(Manisha), showering paasam to a andhra sister(sanghavi) and dreamt by a rajasthani girl(kiran)
and fighting villains from bangalore(prakash raj)
and MP(aasish vidhyarthi) and we still call this a tamil film, whats the harm for a Northie (assuming Reena to be a northie)to sing with a slight accent ?

Jil-Jil-Jilpans-Matter ,
Sorry for digression..
Udit is a very good singer in Hindi, but a sounds horrible in Tamil/telugu. Definetely he is a bad singer in Tamil/Telugu. His voice doesnt suit to sing particularly telugu song. But still since one song of Manisharma was hit, he is forced to sing almost one song in a movie of every telugu movie to get commercial benifit out of him.
Personally I hate when Udit sings in telugu. I can say how MD's do. It went to such an extent that he couldnt pronounce two words in a song which were nicely mixed with another singer singing that two words in Udit's song. Naturally telugu speaking/loving guy will get offended.
So is Naga here. Why one would want all these to happen when there are pelnty of good singing, pronouncing singers available.
Reena Bhardawaj, I too didnt like her voice here. It is not impressive at all. That too with her accent. You may feel offensive for Naga's words, but as a listener, we too feel offensive.

Wondering,
Songs are for repeated listening, unlike movie. You may not watch the movie as many times as you listen a song of particular movie. So a wrong pronounciation would definetely hurt. Movie though acted by different people, most cases voices for them are bought for rent ( dubbing ). SO there is a difference.

ncr,
Though we cannot film music with movie pronounciations sometimes the movie pronounciations are horrible too.. u can bear a song for 5 minutes, whereas u have to bear a movie for 3 hrs... Actors like mamooty and jayaram have a heavy mallu accent in their tamil movies and so does actors like arjun, sarath babu and prakash raj.. people have got more used to them in movies whereas singers are still blamed for their wrong pronounciations... even rahman's pronounciation of 'il' and 'ill' is wrong..... mano would use a 'llnnnn' in most of his songs (ex: thellnnai maram pilandhu) which sometimes irritates . Going back to the old days, C.s. jayraman's pronounciation was not good and so was Ghantasala's... Sadhna's tamil is not as bad as lata or asha...we gotta accept that and live with that...

aiyoo....konjam slow down guyss!.....site crash -crish aayida poguthu! ;) .... seri....now get ready for somethin i hate to do :( ....an essay! :)
after i posted my last msg, muthal velaiya kadaikku poi i got the cassette......believe me .ram files-oda cassette evalavo thevalai! :)....ive now listened to it a total of 3 times (dont like a genius check out with the time of my previous posting....this count includes the 1.5!)....according to me 3 is the number of times u need to listen to ARR songs b4 judging them....and dats wat ive been doing in the past!
now....here's proof that manam oru kurangu... :))
lemme go songwise once again.....
1) Baba Theme Music
This music sounds really spiritual.....something like the chant of OM with music in the background.....thus i wouldnt call it a great effort
2) Dippu Dippu
One of my favourites in the cassette.....i have a feeling twud defintely reach RK fans.....however this song stands no where near "Oruvan Oruvan"......but still a very good song......the song has some laspses too....will come to that in the end!
3) Kichu Kichu
I had earlier said that this song SUX .... but after listening to it a bit more,i feel tis pretty good/decent......though not of ARRs class.....SPB i feel is a plus point for this song (now dat wud make raghu happy!)
4) Maya Maya
A song with a very nice beginning......but i was able to enjoy it only in bits and pieces....as said earlier, lapses ellam kadaseela :).....on the whole a good song
5) Raajiyamaa
Excellent song.....but i doubt twud reach sections of RK fans....after all they don like a "soga rajini" :) ..... but lyrix paartha appadi thonaley....gotta wait and see! .... but the song for sure has a soga tinch to it :)
6) Sakthi Kodu
Nice song once again.....but i am not appreciative of this song coz i feel many portions of this have been seperately inspired from several other songs.....will let u know once i get them.....the beginning ofcourse is like "kaalaiyum neeyae".....i had mentioned earlier that this is a gemini song.....but i guess tis a carnatic song! :)
now for the lapses...
1) the songs i feel lack some sort of continuity ... like Dippu Dippu,Maaya Maaya and all..... one place of it is enjoyable while the one which follws immediately is hopeless....ARR had already said he was trying something dif.....tis dif. all rite....but i don think twill be accepted!
2) Something makes me feel dat many parts,in many songs resemble something ive already heard.....this is something new for me.....hope im proved wrong :)
on the whole i wouldnt say the album is excellent....but good....i wud say tis equal to padayappa, but definitely not muthu
seri.....sorry for this periya crappy post :)
