Where can I get MLV's "Konjum Purave! Nenjodu nenjam"
I think the name of the movie is " Raji yen Kanmani" but I am not sure

'nEyar viruppam' section. The song is from the
movie, 'thAi uLLam'. (MD: ?) The direct link is:

SK, there is a superb song by PBS, 'Azhage uruvai avaL vanthaaL'. Any idea about who the MD is ? And ofcourse, do you have it? :-)) FYI..listen to MSV's interview in real audo in musicurry.com. He even sings the pallavi of his Hindi songs in Chandri rani and Naya aadmi.

Thanks for the additions to the bhArathi page, especially the MLV/VNS version of chinnanjiru kiLiyE. I really love the VNS part of the song when the rAga switches from the one that MLV starts out with. This version has become so popular that this is the one that every classical musician chooses to play this song. I have heard at least three of them (Lalgudi, Mandolin Srinivas, Kadri Gopalnath) play this in their concerts. I think the original composition by bhArathi has more stanzas though. Thanks for bringing us this timeless classic.

SK, listened to the songs in your bharathiyaar page. amazing collection! thanks for putting it up. loved the chinnanchiru kiLiyE song. was reminded of this bit from sindhu bhairavi:
suhasini is talking to sivakumar. she verifies that his wife's name is bhairavi, and says that bharathiyaar tuned chinnan chiru kiLiyE in bhairavi.
do you have that song in bhairavi raagam?

There are many classics there which were sung by MLV for
famous dance numbers in old films. I love those
songs. But I am not sure the younger audience
will enjoy them.

RR, the prelude seems to be in Kaapi alright. The pallavi & anupallavi seem to be in Thilang. So is the stanza sung by Sundaram.
'Uchchi thannai mugarnthaal' seems to be in Maand.

Balaji yes it is the elevator song. Even i was thinking it was Saritha but when i listened to that song yday i felt it was by someone else(probable the one who did the humming in 'maNiviKakke maanganiye maragadhame madhukudame')

I faintly remember that it was the same female singer who gave voice in "paduththal purandal" in
'vaNdikkAran magan' with SPB, who sings 'kalisi uNte kaladhu sugamu'with SPB in 'Maro charithra'. I could not rememeber her name. I will try to recollect from my memory.

SK, Konjum purave is a complete copy of 'Tandee HawayEn' from Naujawan by Lata Mangeshkar (MD: S.D.Burman). This santham was lifted by his own son RD Burman twice, Madan Mohan and Roshan once each. Makes it a popular song ;-) Infact, this tune is played as a BGM in a scene in a movie (maybe Sivaji movie) in which G.Ramanathan and MSV/TKR worked together.

Did 'Naujawan' come before that?
I am sure VR did not have any role in 'sArangathArA'.

SK, Naujawan came before the tamil version. Did you listen to the real audio version of interviews with TMS, MSV and PBS in musicurry.com ? Do not read, listen to the real audio version. TMS surprises you.

SVV was the MD for 'irumbuth thirai'. Very good songs..
esp., 'nenjil kudiyirukkum'.

seems the song is in mukhari raagam.. tuned as
such after Kannadhasan (the producer) requested it.
