Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”

Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.

Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

  u didnt feel the ending kinda came abruptly?like after the fight i woulda thought a transaction scene would have been smoother.the ending was good just seemed sudden.seeing how everyone saw it so far.after the final fight it woulda been smoother IMO if police came and took inba away.and while doing that they cut inbetween and show surya & arjuns ending and then end it with maddys ending.

  haha notice the only thing Aswathama mentions as illogical storyline is the 22 yr old becoming mla.....but when in the story do they mention the age of the character?oh yeh thats right never.

  AE is again, technically an exceptional movie (nothing surprising for an MR movie). Ravi K.Chandran has done more than fantastic job in every frame. I mean, every frame is fantastic. When Intermission came, we were so excited that this would be a surefire hit for MR as the way the story was told was quite different and clear.
  But, I had expected something major and more deep in Madhavan's character as so much time was devoted to building this particular character and Meera's and we simply couldn't digest the abrupt ending (and a very insignificant ending to that character. What happens to Meera Jasmine, may probably come in AE part 2!!). As AV mentioned in its review, Surya's fight for refining politics comes without a depth and hence his character though aptly performed by him, at the end is not very impressive.
  
  I think that Siddharth and Trisha story was pretty cool and fresh. Trisha obviously looks great in every frame, thanks to the cameraman. Meera Jasmine is great and the chemistry between her and Madhavan is fabulous. Madhavan stands out in this movie with splendid performance, and blame it on MR for not giving proper weightage to these characters in the end of the movie.
  
  Eventhough the movie was thoroughly enjoyable, the end is just not acceptable to common man.
  
  By the way, sad story is VCDs of this movie are freely available in Chennai, within 2-3 days of release!!

  Surya MLA aagarathu wasnt a fault. Coz he was doing PG in the movie. You realise that when the princi complains "Ivan Undergraduation-lendhe ippadi thaan."
  
  When it comes to Sidd.. yeah. That seemed a bit odd.
  
  *SPOILER ALERT*
  But then there were so many moments in the film that actually set it apart from the others.
  
  I mean, normally, in any movie, when a friend emotionally blackmails a guy saying "Paravala da.. Sudu" the guy urugifies, drops the gun and breaks into tears. Maddy had no such hassles! :) Bang Bang, on his way.. :) I dont know why, but i was ROTFL when i saw the scene.

  Sidd's one-liners were especially deadly. Even in moments of what-the-gal-felt-was-intimate, this dude was being totally nonchalant and came up w/ pretty witty stuff! :)
  
  Surya-BR faceoffs sollave vendaam.. Surya literally sparkled! and BR was very expressive.
  
  Do u realise why we'r making such a fuss about lil flaws in the movie when we gladly turn a blind eye to nonsensical stuff in other movies? Jus coz of Mani Ratnam. We've taken him for granted. We've come to a silent understanding that he can do no wrong, and if anyone can project realism in such an impressive way, it's him.

  Whatever said and done, whoever[including you, Mr. aswathama] says it is a flop, AE IS a different movie and needs to be commended. Not because of ARR; but because of MR's boldness and persistence to give standard movies..... despite ARR, of course. This is my personal opinion. I still think that the MR-IIR movies are far far better than the MR-ARR movies. IIR definitely is a mass person and can easily get behind a good movie if he sees one and will surely lift it wayyyyyyyyyyy..... up with his music and BGM. ARR doesn't do that. Now,... don't pounce on me!!

  It kinda seemed sudden, yeah. But once such scenes were shownn, I was just praying that the movie ends right there. I did not want it be any normal Tamil movie and I wasn't disapointed.

  I read Ashwathama's comment on that issue earlier. That's why I included a statement saying there were flaws in the movie. Coz other than that I did not find anything disturbing. Neways, sollanumna sollaraen...22 yr old becoming a MLA is a flaw! :-)
  Actually, support pannanumna pannalaam.
  1) Surya, Suchitra and "Thrilok" are doing PG. Vayasukku vandhirupaanga..I mean 25 years aagi irukkum! :-)
  2) Arjun makku, panakkaaran, class-la last, adikkadi fail aavan. Ippadi ellam irukkalaam. Anna University allows 7 years for the completion of the degree. So, avanukkum 25years aagi irukkalaam. Aana 7 varusham BE panninavanukku Visa eppadi kedachudhu? Adhu flaw! :-D
  
  There was onething which I missed out yesterday though. The picturisation of Nenjamellam irritated me! It was probably a confusion which Mani had - paatu vaenumnu half mind, vaendaamnu half mind. Ippadi half mind-oda suththi romba kaduppaethittaru andha paattuboadhu! It is not COMPULSORY that all songs should be used like a BGM. Enga mudiyumo, anga dhaan use panna mudiyum. Adhukkaga chumma oru college campus kulla Esha-va nadakka uttu Nenjamellam-nu paadina ory kaduppu! He chopped away the interludes and half the song too :-(( Surya and Esha-oda oru pic irukkumae, oru green colour set-kulla..adhellam eduththutaangala padathilirundhu?? :-(
