  He already has his inbox full. 1 more thing for sure. IR can definitely take credit for creating such a big fan(atic) following for him (of course me including), which I thought was available only for cine stars (especially for male gender).

  Charu wants to get the attention by criticing a genious. I respect his freedom. But at the same time, he should respect the music of IR, which is the best in the world now. I hope Charu, will accept it, if he knows music well. IR is a who blended music with our culture and hearty feeling. No other MD can do this. Others can try, they cannot posses a postion of IR

  has anyone read charunivEdhithA's works? like "existentialismum fancy baniyanum"? (what was the one he wrote 2-3 years ago that made controversy? forgot the name of the book and also much of the material - unquestionably forgettable work :-)) ) reading his kONal pakkangaL, he seems to be a different avathAram of lEnA thamizhvANan.

  okay..never mind..this guy's style is totally useless to me. I dont agree with him IRs style is 'apollonian'..this is just an 'intellectual' chitchat. There are much better critics of IR here (like Srikanth and Shashi) or even some seemingly young fellows who mention simple things like - how long can I listen to drums/guitar sounds, whats the deal with the tabla all the time, why the hell should we have a percussion less interludes etc etc..
  This writer titles his article 'ilaiyarAjavi isai En enakku pidikkavillai' and there is not even a single point about his music..
  Yeah..we know he is well-read, he is probably intelligent too..but sorry guys ..it is his style which is annoying..The section called 'kOnal pakkangal' was probably designed to air the 'other' view point. I only wish somebody wrote more substance in these sections instead of abusing this platform to show off their wide reading or knowledge..Just a friendly advise..dont patronise this guy.I would not even care to email him.

  Thanks Jay for the article. When I read this writer's (really a writer?) article in vikatan, I wanted to just kill him. I thought vikatan was a reasonable magazine but looks like it is not after all. How could they allow this stupid to write some rubbish like that about IR?

  Welcome guys! In another essay saru nivEthitha simply states that pAvalar was greater than IR. That’s true, In fact IR himself has admitted that. But What I’m wondering is Has he ever heard of any pAvalar’s work before or simply taken those words of IR for his new discovery :-) See what Jeeva writes in that article:

  Hi Peeps,
  
  My intention was not getting popularity for CharuNivedhitha. I was infact very much surprised to see this much of response for my posting. I just wanted the TFMDF'ers to know what this writer(??!!!) has been saying about Ilayaraja in a magazine like "Vikatan". Anyhow I regret for having started this topic.   I feel he is right. Even though Iam a hardcore fan of IR, I still agree what he says. Anybody has his or her own right to decide/speak about his/her likes and dislikes. Eg:I dont like IR's music. I dont like Rajinikanth's acting. I dont like SPB's voice etc..

  One point that was told by him was "Probably my hearing of TFM has stopped after Viswanathan-Ramamurthy combo". Well I do agree with this. I know lots of old people who (including people in my family) loves film music and according to them any MD after MSV-TRR is trash. Why not the same logic applicable to people who say ARR is trash but IR is the best?

  I am a not a fan but a fanatic of IR. Well one thing about myself is that I listen to other people's view also. My Dad is a hardcore fan of MSV and KVM. He still says that TFM is trash after MSV and KVM also he agrees that tastes of people differ between generations and he does listens to my views of IR and still agrees majority of my points.
  Read the latest Konal Pakkangal by Charu Nivedhitha, He has said AR Rahman cannot be even compared with IR, which is very true and I completely agree with him.

  And one more thing.. Charu nivedhitha never said anything bad about IR's music. He said that he doesnt like it. I feel everybody has their own likes and dislikes and they have the right to express it in any form given an oppurtunity. Here Vikatan has given an oppurtunity for this guy to write and he writes about his likes and dislikes.
  Whether I agree or not it doesnt matter. I brought up this topic since I thought this one should be brought to notice to the people of this forum who talk/read/eat/breathe TFM.
  My personal opinion, Well IR is the greatest, not only in TFM also in IFM (Indian Film music).
  There are so many people who come and express their opinions in this forum (that too under a false name) in a most awkward and offending way. Infact they even do a lot of personal attacks on others in a public forum like this one.

  I don't like Tendulkar it is my personal opinion
  I don't like Vajpayee it is my personal opinion
  I don't like Karunanidhi it is my personal opinion..
  
  It is not such a great opinion to start a thread!!
  This half baked and empty opinions should not even be a part of our discussion. If Charu is a someone like Yesudas, Veenai Balachander, or subbudu there is a reason we can take his opinion seriously.

  I do definitely agree with your point(s). Yes Charu is not a musical genius like Yesudas or Subbudu, but his article has appeared in "Vikatan" which is a very popular magazine. I'd like to bring to your notice my earlier posting on this thread "to put a full stop" to this thread. I now again request all the TFM page surfers to put a full stop. I have also send a mail to the webmaster of TFM to take this thread out of TFM page. Anyhow IR is the greatest and there is no doubt about it.
