the violin bit in "Apple penney nee yaaro" from "Roja koottam" sounds damning similar to "Meri mehbooba" from "Pardes"... et tu Bharatwaj?

Exactly. Not only that when "unnai naan paarthadillai" follows and the rest of the pallavi it is a ditto "meri mehabooba"'s Zara thasveeru leke.

This time you have to give credit to JL and Brand this BW (Even though I like him much) and Person trying to ape Deva.
BW---It is a bad thing for you. Return back to your originality. Too much it is.

Yes, there are sure shot traces of the Pardes number in that 'apple penne' number. On that note, about the other Bharadwaj (in HFM, incidentally...even though it might be inappropriate to add it here, I'm doing so 'cos this is one scoop that has to be shared!)...remember the Maachis (1996) number 'Chod aaye hum'? Remember the whistling in that song? It also had some incredible lyrics by Gulzar! Well, who could forget that! But the point is its a direct lift from the song 'il campo di pallone' which was part of the soundtrack for the 1994 Italian movie 'Caro Diario' (Dear Diary). The composer of Caro diario was Nicola Piovani who was also the composer of the Oscar winning 'La vita e bella', better known as 'Life is beautiful'. Wonder if Vishal and Gulzar saab saw the movie in some international film festival in Mumbai and decided that this piece was too good to resist!!? Listen to both the clips at my site - http://www.iespana.es/i2fs/

Just wanted to check - does anybody have any clue if the song 'chudithaar aninthu vantha sorgame' from Poovellam Kettuppar is inspired by a 80s pop hit? Gotta mail saying it is but no other details. Could very well be a hoax but just wanted to cross-check if somebody knows this.

Carrying from the Gemini thread...
Bharadwaj is originally from Malaysia, or so I read in one of his interviews long back.
Has anybody heard the original of the Gemini title song by 'The Keys' - the malaysian tamil pop band? Where can I find a version online?

Bharadwaj is from Malaysia?
Ithu aniyaayam Karthik. :)
He does come here now and then and even was the judge for a talent quest last year (this year Haris Jeyaraj is the judge) but I doubt that he is a "copy cat."
Malaysian rock paadalgalai ketkka oru thani koottam irukku; it does not appeal to the masses. :)

If deva does it it is copying , if IR does it it is divine vision or privileged intepretation in c minor of F major!

ROTFL: I might have confused Bharadwaj with some other composer (probably Oviyan) but remember reading something along the lines that Bharadwaj was composing in Malaysia before Saran called him. In Vikatan I think! Not sure now!

No, I am certain that BW is not from Malaysia. Anyway, you don't want any musicians from Malaysia. :)

Chanced to hear `sollAyO sOlaikkiLi' from alli arjuna (music ARR) on Cbe AIR. A couple of lines in the saraNam is a straight lift from `inji iduppazhagi'. (I read in one ARR interview that this was one Raja song he admired very much -even lamented that his remarks like this are not reported - but should the admiration be shown like this?:-)

I don't think that ARR has ever been "inspired" from IR. He goes back earlier times like MSV or non-Tamil stuff. :)

Karthik S,
Can you please put up the Nimbuda Nimbuda number form Hum dil de chuke sanam in ur copied lists..? It is a direct lift from a folk album . the original composer was featured in the TV prog Surabhi some time back ( around the time of the release of the film ) and he had even performed it LIve in France in some India festival ! The title of the album was also something like "Indian .....in France"?

I have heard this allegation number of times and have replied to it number of times.
It is not a lift at all. Yes, it seems to be similar, but only when you try to force the Inji song into the solllayo tune.
Leave that , the inji iduppazhagi it self is a copy of SDB song
"Yeh dil dewana hai". I think I am saying this 100th time in this forum. This information was shared by SPB and he showed where the similarity lies. I have heard this song and the middle portion is a heavy inspiration from Hindi. SPB termed that as an example that shows how great people have mutual respect to each other. But, if ARR does that then it is crime. Poor guy, he is not great..a simple human.

Common Friend,
I am hearing this for long (inji iduppazaga copied from a SDB Song) ... is there some way I can listen to this original hindhi piece ?
Inji iduppazahga is one of my all time favourite songs and I really want to know if it is 'inspired' or 'copied' from some other tune !

CF, I'm not talking about the pallavi. (No need for me to force anything into anything. I just heard on radio a song whose saraNam had a note-for-note resemblence to the saraNam of inji. It was actually my wife who first heard it and commented which made me listen to the 2nd stanza - we both didn't even know it's an ARR song till such time it was broadcast another time on Radio)
Well I'll no way defend Raja if there had been a Hindi original. (Pls go through the archives where many of postings condemning his lifts like darling, darling / kanavu kANum / kaN malargaLin etc.)
However, the reason that Raja would have taken it from a Hindi song does not give ARR a license to automatically lift it. He has got his own reputation to guard you see:-)

(Sorry folks, didnt know RS's mail ID, thats why)...you're right, I've been trying to get the original but havent been able to so far. The original is by a Rajasthani folk singer by name Ghazni Khan Manganiyar. Read more about this controversy here...

I too was not talking about the pallavi. I can understand what you can saying. It is just my musical illitracy that makes me use some confusing terms.
But, from a far sight I will look as same as both the IR and ARR songs charam has a continous flow (how do you say that...I don't know). But, you cannot equate it to copy or other thing.
Regarding the hindi song, I don't remember the film. Let me give you the first four lines of it. Let some body try to find out the hindi film..Please help.
The lines are....
Yeh dil deewana hai
dil to deewana hai
deewana dil hai yeh
dil deewana
Sing this with the tune of Inji iduppazhagi or "pon kazhuththil maalai ida" part.
If I am still confusing, then sorry I can't help it.
