Pranav,
Let it be 15000 in @@@'s reckoning. In my conjecture it is much more than that. I have heard about 8 thousand songs involving her voice. And that too without that huge portion of Taamil and Telgoo songs of 80's.

Asha Bhosle and S. Janaki are both in a class of their own. Both of them have showed tremendous artistry when it comes to emoting expressions and singing different types of songs in different genres. Their voices are also quite similar to one another and both of them have successfully had a good innings in their respective industries. SJ could not have sung the songs that AB sung such as the for ex. seductive, pop or ghazals that she came out with and AB could not have replicated some of the songs that SJ has sung.
Please don't compare them to Lata Mangeshkar who is the undisputed queen of singing. Almost all artists have mentioned that Lata is behyond comparison. Her talents are beyond reach as is her voice. Now do you question all these artists judgement ?. To compare any female singer to Lata is not possible. Sure many other singers such as PS, SJ, AB etc. are also in a league of their own, Lata is beyond them. PS even once said that she considers herself one of the Mangeshkar sisters.
When Lata was at her prime, all music directors used her voice because they felt it was the best. Sure Suman Kalyanpur and others may not have gotten that much of a chance because of dirty politics that was played against them, but can you really blame the majority of MD's for using Lata ?. I also agree that Lata has had her fair share of bad incidents and has fought with great personalities such as Rafi, SDB, Shankar (Jaikishan) etc. but leave aside the politics and just marvel at her voice and talent.
AB showed on her own that she was different from her sister and at times was more versatile than Lata. But once again Lata is in a class of her own in which she cannot be compared to anyone.
Regards

(Article on Janaki)
S. Janaki was born in Repalle Taluq Palapatla village in 23.04.1938. She learnt music from Sree Paidiswamy at Rajamundhry until she was ten and then moved to Madras based on the advice of her uncle Fun Doctor Chandrashekar.
Seeing her getting prize in AIR (1956), he recommended her for a job as a singer in AVM Studio. She joined there and started her career with Tamil films. Later, she was introduced to Telugu films when director Tilak gave her chance with the film M.L.A. (1956), for the song "nee aaSa aDiyaasa, chEjaarE maNipoosa, bratukantaa amavaasa, lambaaDOLLa raamdaasaa", in the music direction of Sree Pendyala Nageswara Rao. From then on, there was no looking back to her. She sang almost 100 songs in the first year itself, which was a record at that time. Her first song with Sree Ghantasala was a sad song, surprisingly all the first songs she sang in other languages were also tragic ones. After her first song, Sree Pendyala gave her a break with a solo in the film baavaamaradaLLu (1961). That song, ‘neeli mEghaalalO gaali keraTaalalO’, which won her critical acclaim from many music directors, helped her get more chances to sing good songs.
She gave her voice to dance numbers like "naravaraa O kuruvaraa" (nartanaSaala, 1963 – Susarla Dakshinamurthy), "O vannekaaDaa ninnu chooDa" (paanDava vanavaasamu, 1965 - Ghantasala), "naruDa O naruDa Emi kOrika" (award winner) (bhairava dweepam, 1994 – Madhavapeddi Suresh), "aaDadaani Ora choopulO" (aaradhana, 1962 – S. Rajeswara Rao), "muttemanTi chinadaanni mogalirEkupoovu Danni" (aakaSaraamanna, 1965 – Rajan-Nagendra) are some of the popular ones.
She sang for five generations of heroines: Jamuna – pagalE vennela jagamE ooyala (poojaaphalam, 1964 – S.Rajeswara Rao), Janaki – OhO OhO paavuramaa, Vanisree – pagalaitE doravEraa raatiri naa raajuvura (bangaaru panjaram, 1968 – S. Rajeswara Rao), Vijayashanthi – bujji piTTa bulli piTTa gooTilOni guvvapiTTa (chinaraayuDu, 1992 – Ilayaraja), Amala – sarasaalu chaalu Sreevaaru vELa kaadu (Shiva, 1990 – Ilayaraja), Rambha – naruDa O naruDa Emi kOrika (bhairava dweepam, 1994 – Madhavapeddi Suresh). She always sang so very naturally that one feels that the heroine is singing the song herself.
She excelled in all type of combinations: with Ghanatasala – naDi rEyi E jaamulO (rangula raaTnam, 1967 – S. Rajeswara Rao–Gopalam), with Balamurali Krishna ‘vasanta gaaliki valapulu rEga (karNa - Pendyala Nageswara Rao), with Susheela – sarilEru neekevvaru narapaala sudhaakara (kanchukOTa, 1967 – K.V. Mahadevan) are only some of the many examples.
Some songs really demanded Janaki’s presence in them. Examples are "sirimalle puvvalle navvu" (jyOti, 1976 – Chakravarti), where she laughs "musically", "nee leela paaDeda dEvaa" (muripinchE muvvalu, 1962 – S.M. Subbaiah Naidu) where she sings along with the shehnai (shehnai was played by the famous artiste Karaikurucchi Arunachalam). The music director tested so many others’ voices to suit the notes played on shehnai, as demanded by the scene, and finally chose Janaki. Songs for children is like cakewalk for Janaki. Examples are songs like "gunnamaamiDi komma meeda" (baalamitrula katha, 1973 – Satyam), "gOvullu tellana gOpayya nallana" (saptapadi, 1981 – K.V. Mahadevan), "paapa pEru malli ...naa ooru kotta Dhilli" (mouna geetam, 1981 – Ilayaraja). Again, her songs for old woman roles are totally different to hear!
Her song "ee duryOdhana duSSaasana" (pratighaTana, 1986 – Chakravarti) won her the Best Singer award for that year (Lyricist Veturi has also won Nandi award for the same song). Seeing her caliber, producer Ramoji Rao chose her as music director for his film mouna pOraaTam (1988). She is the third lady music director in Telugu Cinema field, after Bhanumati and P. Leela. She got the rare opportunity of singing playback for another playback singer ("OM namaSSivaaya" for S.P. Sailaja for the film saagara sangamam, 1983).
One cannot forget Janaki’s songs in the musical melodies made in Vamsi-Ilayraja combination: "Ekaanta vELa" (anvEshaNa, 1985) "ku ku ku… kOkila raavE", "jilibili palukulu chilipiga palikina O mainaa mainaa", and "venellO gOdaari andam" (sitaara, 1984), "vayyaari gOdaarammaa oLLantaa endukammaa kalavaram", "gOpemma chEtilO gOrumudda" (prEminchu-peLLaaDu, 1985), etc. are memorable even today.
Some of her other popular songs::
sirimalle poovaa sirimalle poovaa (padahaarELLa vayasu,1978 Chakravarti – tune used from the Tamil version padunaaru vadayidinilE whose music was scored by Ilayaraja), mEghamaa dEhamaa (manchu pallaki, 1982 – Rajan-Nagendra), maanavatvam parimaLinchE manchi manishi ki swaagatam (nETi bhaaratam,1983 Chakaravarti), illE kOvelagaa (lakshmeenivaasam,1967 – K.V.Mahadevan), vallabhaa priya vallabhaa (SreekaakuLa aandhra mahaavishNuvu katha, 1966), andelu palikenu (bhakta pOtana, 1966), nEDE telisindi eenaaDE telisindi (aaradhana,1976 with Mohd. Rafi – Saluri Hanumantha Rao), chinavaaDa manasaayera (jarigina katha, 1969 – Ghantasala), samajavaragamanaa (SankaraabharaNam, 1980 – K.V. Mahadevan), aakasamlO aaSala harivillu (swarNa kamalam, 1988), etc. The list goes on and on.
She sang 15,000-20,000 songs in her career, in 15 different languages: Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Simhalese, Bengali, Oriya, English, Sanskrit, Konkini, Tulu, Saurashtra, Baduga, and German. She won Tamilnadu State Government Award six times, and Andhra Pradesh State Government Award six times, along with other awards like kalaimaamaNi (1986), sur singaar (1987), Singer of the century Award, and Bharatidas Award. Andrapradesh Kalavedika felicitated her with sangeeta ratna Award and one lakh rupees, on the 100 years of Cinema festival. She won four national awards.
Her son Muralikrishna acted in a couple of movies, including Srutilayalu. She almost retired from the industry after her husband’s demise, and is making her own devotional music cassettes on Meera. We at telugucinema.com wish her many many happy returns of her birthday.

Great songs by Janaki!
PS: Does anybody have an idea of the songs she has sung in German. I am extremely curious to listen to them.
