  RV - That can be easily answered. Vellikizhamaigalil koavilukku poagira neengal, Sanikizhamaigalil baarukku poareergal allavaa, athupoalthaan! :-))
  BTW, I don't think that Kannukku mai azhagu is a bad song. Therefore as you will agree, opinions may vary.

  Sometime last year, I saw this movie Bommai. It has a fabulous song in "Engo Pirandhavaraam Engo Valarndhavaraam Eppadiyo En Manadhai Kavarndhavaraam". I am wondering whether anybody else has heard this song ? Did S. Balachander do the music for this movie ? I know that he directed Andha Naal. ( When I saw Andha Naal, I was reminded of Rashomon. ). He also acted as the second hero in Penn in which JB Chandrababu sings "Ullasamagave Ulagatthai Aalave" for him. I think he directed the movie "Nadu Iravil" too but I am not too sure. Can anybody throw some light on this guy and the song I had mentioned ?

  RV: I do know that SB directed bommai. I am not sure who scored the music though. I think you mean Or iravu and not nadu iravil. (The movie with the cool lift within the house.)

  Bommai introduced KJJ to TFM: neeyum bommai
  naanum bommai ninaichchu paaththaa ellaam bommai
  is KJJ's first song in TFM.
  
  Nadu Iravil was "everything" by S Balachander
  (precursor to TRajender). It had a couple of good
  songs by PS and LRE. The movie is a thriller with a murder once

  In Prime TV12 Singapore they have been showing,
  for nearly four to five weeks, every Tuesday,
  a half hour show about AVM Movies (titled, Endrum
  Cinema). Yesterday they interviewed
  Anjali Devi and asked her to talk about AVM
  songs. She particularly mentioned the song,
  sonna sollai maRandhiduvEnO, vaa vaa vaa
  sung by MSRajeswari and PLeela (A'Devi and
  Vaijayanthimala in the movie). Then they showed
  the full song sequence. It was very very melodious.
  Have you listened to this song? Though this is
  the first time I am hearing this song, I kept
  getting the feeling that I have heard it a
  humpteen number of times before! The song is
  from the movie, Penn. Do you know who
  the MD is? Any info about the movie?

  Does anyone have more info on the song 'sivashankari shivanandha lahari'(by SirgazhiG).A beautiful song set to a hindustani raag(enne raagam).Which film is this from and whos the MD?
  In the middle of the song there are 2 voices singing 'chandrakaladhari eswari'.Whos the other singer?Who were the actors in this film??
  
  This song sounds like'chinnanjiriye vannaparavai'(kungumam).Kungumam was by KVM.

  Penn is by R. Sudarshan. Other MDs were also involved in it, I don't remember the names. (Chandrababu's "kalyanam kalyanam" also appears in the movie I think).
  RV:
  'En sindhai noyum' is indeed from Kaveri. The singer is Jikki not PS. The music was by G Ramanathan, surprisingly lifting from C.Ramachandra's 'yeh zindagi usi ki hai' (from Anarkali).
  Ramki:
  'Siva shankari' is from "Jagadala Prathaban". Music is by Pendyala. The second singer might be the MD himself, but I am not sure.

  I am sorry I got your name wrong.
  Anarkali in Hindi was in 1953. The Telugu version by Adi Narayana Rao was in 1954, which also had the same tune "ee jeevithame saphalamu" (by Jikki). I thought the Tamil version was also by Adi Narayana Rao, but "Kaveri" seems to be credited to G. Ramanathan (1956 I think).
