VAAZHGA KARIKALAN,VALARGA UNMAIGAL !
YES,karikaalan i have been searching for one soul like you for a long time,i am sure this guy arr only copies and not compose.people praise him for being so inspired.
"swasamae"song from thenaali is such a blatant lift from the hindi superhit by mohd.rafi/mahender kapoor-the song is as follows-
"din dal jaaye -hai- raat na aaye"i am sure not even arr or spb or anybody can deny this.i have been brickbated by a lot of tfm df'ers for voicing the truth,it is nice to see a fresh guy like you ,we should fight the inspiration virus out of tamil film music, because the identity created to tfm as a whole by maestro illaiyaraaja is being slowly washed away by arr by his so called worldly inspirations.and as a result tfm has become very ordinary and just a fancy, real tfm for us and the world audience come from raaja vis-a vis albums like"hey ram, sedhu, karisakkaattu poovae, bharathy and so on".
karikaalan keep fighting and i will be with you ,let us also consensuate all other arr inspirations as a seperate thread.bye for now.

Mr.vetkasooriyan.....'swasamE' and 'Din dal jaayE'? Is it the SPB duet you are referring to? If so, please do clearly mention where it sounds similar to the Hindi song.

ota vai!
One Chandrabose copy (which I earlier posted in one of the threads) is the lift of `vaishAka sandhyE, nin chuNdilendhE' of `nAdOdikkAtRu' by Shyam (Malayalam) as `poo pooththadhu, yAr pArthadhu' or something like that in a film, which is a possible remake of the MY movie. (Is it `kadhAnAyakan'?)

One more drop into the ocean...im not sure if anyone had already pointed this out already.
A movie by name idhayathaamarai was made, Karthi & Revathi starrer. The MD was SG. In that one song was heavily inspired from the opening music (a.k.a prelude) of 'manil vantha nilavu' from mouna raagam of IR. Have u noticed it??
Similarly 'Pen alla pen all udha poo' from uzhavan is heavily inspired from 'pesum mani muthhu rojakkal pillaigal yellorum raajakkal' from Neela malargal(?).
One more IR song from soorasamharam 'paadum naeram idhuthaan idhuthaan va va va va...' was copied by none other than Deva in one of his songs (i forgot it...).

the starting tune of "ottagatha kattiko" looks very much similar like a christian devotional song "yesu ennum namam pesuginra pouthu"
can some christian DFers clarify.

Friends,
People who have listened to Peter Gabriel's
"Passion" will definitely without hesitating
say that A.R.Rehman copies almost all his tunes
and ARR follows exactly his style.
This album "Passion" is the background score of
the movie The Last Temptation (of Jesus Christ).
This movie was baned in India.
Here is an assignment to TFM Members.
Listen this album and identify the songs that ARR
has copied.
Have fun!

Friends,
Today I listened the song "Usilampatti Penkutti"
from the movie "Gentleman". In this song, the flute piece that comes in the first interlude
and second interlude is copied / inspired from
the famous flute music of the english movie
"Good, Bad and Ugly".
I listened another ARR song "Mukala Mukabola".
The rythm (percution beats) which comes at the
end of the song is copied from the beats of Illaiyaraaja's song "Aattam Therottama" in the
movie "Captain Prabhakaran". (Captain Prabharan
was released first.) I point out only the beats
at the end, not the whole song. The whole song is
copied from another english song; that is a different story.

hi devils advocate,
Please read carefully my statements.
I did not mention about tune and thw whole
beats. I mentioned about only the beats which comes at the end of "Mukkala" song.
It is exactly the same beats of "Aattama therottama" song with high tempo. But, the tune
of the song "Aattama therottama" is totally different from "Mukkala". This is very clear if
you listen these two songs.
I think, you are tensed while reading my mails.
That's why without understanding my words, you
are talking some thing different. Write me your
address so that I shall send toy antacid tablets.
This will help you while reading my mails.

You got 7 out of 10 in the assignmnet. Congrats.

The Peter Gabriel album is considered the first World Music album (dont ask me who decides those things) and Peter Gabriel is considered the father of World Music. Most of NFAKs album were released by Peter Gabriel's label. NFAK co-worked with some white guy on many albums for PG's label.

Dear Friends,
The interlude (second interlude?) in the song
"Muthalvane..." seems to be a copy from Beethovan's Symphony No.9 (Ode to Joy).
This particular piece also comes as a background music for the most of the scenes in that movie
"Muthalvan".
(What a nonsense story! it is equivalent to an Ambulimama story! )
Similar version of this musical piece of Bethovan's symphony is used in "Old spice"
advertisement and another advt. in US TV channels.
Can any one point out the correct source.?

karikaalan,
arr didn't have to go to beethoven for that...Check the chorus part of Jerry Goldsmith's Omen. He was nominated for Academy award for his score for that movie.
