Hi,
I was surprised to find that Keeravani has been awarded the best MD (National Awards). I was thinking all along that the best music to come out in 1997 was "Guru". Not b'cause I like IR but the music is very involved. Lot of effort has gone into it. I have heard the music of Annamayya and it is OK at best. Maybe the committe decided to give the award to some movie which has a classical base. BTW, Guru was also not given the best MD even when Kerala State announce the awards. Guru got some other awards in Kerala but not music. Any reactions.

mahalaxmi,
there is a diff in having a song based on latin balle and copying it from some song which is based on it. strawberry falls in the latter category.
Our friend, probably hasn't heard johnny or ninaivellAm nihtyA properly.
an_ardent...,
Of course I'm not satisfied with in IR NOT bagging the award.C'mon, will u tolerate a copy cat to be a Award winner.I can't.
If i 'm not a true music lover I won't admire the works of ARR in thiruda thiruda ,roja or pudiya mugam(which might as well be copied ).
If the contenders were sirpi for uLLathai aLLi thA or deva for Asai, then I'd've surely said MK deserved an award , NOT with true classical movies like mOgamuL around.

If u people go on talking u would say he bribed everyone to accept him as a great!!!!!
Face it people award is an apreciation of quality. If IR didnt win it its because, he is ..... (colrado kai vai koosuthu!!!!!) .
there were people who said awards dont matter anything when it comes to IR but know when he hasnt won jack... people go on moaning. and crying......oh mama why didnt he win it .....,...oh oh oh oh oh

Junior,
whatever U say, a copier is NOT a talented composer and the best MD award is supposed to go to a composer and NOT to a cut-&-paster (it at times does go).
As the grapevine goes, it seems that AVM indeed played a role in getting those national awards.
It does sound convincing.Tell me one instance when a commercial movie without a strong story line has got a national award.
This has been done by the Oscar commitee too!!!
Jeans got nominated with Satya competing for the same. the reason need not be mentioned.
U wud also say jeans is better than satya and we "SERIOUSLY DONT KNOW WHAT TALENT IS. "
please, this is NOT dljkhds... ,be serious while posting:-))

Serious,
u think i was not serious?
Jeans nominated:
fine not at all good, but consider this way why did it go for 125 plus days in tamil and 175 plus in telugu?
because of music. right dont say no.
Dil se it entered the british top ten(first indian film to do so)
reason : The british thought the sound track was just excellent. the film as we all should no was not really good. i know ur response oh oh oh the film was the best any indian can make.
Minsara kanavu won award due to banner. come on fight like a man not like a looser. what sort of a remark was that.
oh oh oh (words of judges) this film has great banner implies music should win NA. So what happened ton ur Kalapani. Almost every catagory won an award besides music. not to say ir got that offer because ARR rejected it. still couldnt do a fine job.
so think before writing. it saves me writing this much for explaining a lame (extremely) argument

Why didn't win the National Award ? He is better than ARR ! Don't you all know ? God has sent him down to earth exactly for this purpose ?
ARR bhajana kuzhuvinargale:
Anytime, anyplace....IR and his music shall prevail. We keep harping about Guru because it is simply a billion times better than MK. Do you mean to say that we should stop talking about Guru and talk only about IR's poor songs ? Why ? Because you want ARR to be seen in a good light. That guy is hopeless as a music director - excellent, imaginative sound engineer, but mediocre music director.
Yesterday, I found the Minsara Kanavu audio cassette in my friend's car. I was very eager to listen to it as I remember having heard it repeatedly when the movie was released. Since I have not heard it for a long time after that, I played the cassette immediately. It took me less than 5 minutes to get tired of ARR's music - so bland and empty. There were no twists and turns to revel in. No magical touches to sweep me off my feet. Nothing. It was empty. It was so plain and ordinary, that I was severely disappointed. Cha ! Indha cassettaya ivvalovu virumbi kaettomunnu ayiduchu !!! The music went on in jerks and bumps - no mood created. No structured emotion to experience. No magnetism. It was like listening to a boring dialogue.
Srikanth:
Considering that you have an equal number of useful contributions to the DF and it's members, I can ignore your hyperactive anti-IR statements. I cannot extend the same courtesy to Junior who, to the best of my knowledge, has never said anything useful in the forum. I wish he would clean up his act and stop questioning our talents. The flotsam and jetsam that we have to live with....:(

Do you know the meaning of classic ? It means something that has class. How would you know what is meant by even class. Seeing that you are an ARR fan, I don't blame you....

ur statement "ir got it bcos ARR rejected " further reinforces my conviction that all ur postings shud indeed go to dlkjhds... :-)))))))))))
Did any britsh tabloid quoted that the sound track was excellent in DilSe, Don't tell whatever that comes to ur mind.
Did u know UAT ran for 200+ days.So don't quote success as a criterion for nomination.
BTW, do u know Oscar is NOT given by filmfare or stardust :-)))))
I can't help but laugh at u when u say jeans is better than satya to be nominated for Oscar.

Re all the noise about the OSCAR nomination going to Jeans, it is a fact that Mr. Ashok Amrithraj was on the comittee (see rediff for details & a criticism). It does not take an Einstein to figure out why Jeans got a nomination. if this says anything, it is that lobbying factor defintely prevails. With this, it should come as no surprise if MK got an award with lobbying by AVM!. I mean - if Ashok Amrithraj can, why not AVM??
About KaLApani, it DID win some awards in the music category in Mallu, I believe. IR also got an award in Bombay for the same score.
Re. Dil Se's success in London, I am sure that the *Indian* community in the UK went gaga over the sound-track. So what?? Even, a bland film like "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" climbed to the British top ten. Does this say anything about the quality of the film?? Nothing.

Hello everyone,
Travelling back in time and looking at the films which won national awards for music,
*Shankarabaranam
*Sindhu Baharavi
*Sagara Sangamam
*Rudra Veena
Well the songs in these movies were praised by almost all classes of the mass and indeed no one can deny the musical content and classical richness it had.
Now comparing it with movies which won awards of late
*Roja
*Minsara kanavu
these were more of western and melody fusion. Of course people liked it and appreciated them. But coming to the same analogy of richness and content, well I'm sorry. India has not gone to an extent of adapting western synthesised music, by simply throwing away our traditional music (it may be carnatic, hindustani, folk, bhangra....). Of course MK had a carnatic base, but it was only a tinch, and amalgamated.
Going along my lines and argument, I would'nt give Guru/kalapani a national award. But looking at the current trend, I would definitely give the award with no hesitation and thoughts. In Rome be a Roman......in such a state there was nothing wrong had Guru won an award. Lobbying happens everywere.....quality and true talent would never get defeated.
Cheers,
Swami

Dear IR fans
I think by responding to OhOhOh etc. we are wasting our time. I guess their main aim is to blow a trumpet on ARR's behalf. We should never bother. One of them doesn't even know the meaning of classical music and hence the chapter ends.
