  I havent seen Nanda so I cant comment. But Pithamagan I wont say great movie. It is a good movie but very much exaggerated. You wont find a real life character like that of Vikram. Way too exaggerated. The movie had 1 good song. Even minus the songs, it would have been hit.
  
  Infact in the last few years, I havent seen a single movie by IR in which his music contributed to it's success.
  
  So dont try to say that those who deserted IR are having an unsuccessful career. Those who work with IR now dont depend upon him in anyway. They just need some songs to fill the gaps.
  
  And IR himself is in bad times. He is not even in 1/4th of his "form" in the 80s.

  vijai, u are reading more into rambham's unwritten lines. I don't think rambaham has dragged MDs in the discussion. Not all IR fans are blindfolded to hate directors just becuse they don't come to IR.indha sindu mudiyara velai thaane vendamkiradhu.
  BTW, Mani better buckles up as directors like Cheran , Gautam Menon will steal all that hype, halo (verenna , north indies press, media kadaatcham thaan)which Mani alone in TF has been basking in so far under his very nose.

  I went to bed last night thinking about the fact that Mani is cooling his heels off, after receiving such a lukewarm response to his recent movies...and I had a Nightmare. It was on Mani's next movie:
  
  It will be a remake of Agni Natchathiram which will have 2 from Shankar's "Boys" playing Prabhu and Karthik's roles. Potbellied "chappavaai" Kiran with Anuradha Sreeram's voice over will play Jayachitra's role and Devayani will play Sumithra's role. Their names will be further shortened to Kam (ala) and Su (Sushila). Bharathi Raja will play the villain's role.
  
  At this stage, I woke up.. and was relieved to find that it was only a dream.
  
  Can you people help me complete the rest of the credits?

  so far both of them have barely made a dent in the TF scene. It will take atleast 2 or 3 hits in a row from them to "steal the halo".

  vijai don't include the likes of xml/ambleen/nattaamai etc into irfan bracket. They infact seem to provoke IR bashing by bashing ARR and MR. Being an old timer u can differentiate between decent IR fans and these so called ones. These so called onez have not contributed anything positive in either IR album thread or any ir thread which discusses music.
  aanaa as an irfan i would prefer mani to use ir instead of praveen mani for bgm and arr for songs. It would add more value to mani's movie and our movie watching experience. raaja , already at the verge of retirement, idhellam oru alpa aasai thaan.

  Manirathnam pathi ovvorutharum ennanamo solrenga.. hype hype nu... appuram he is high funda....western influence .... tell this........have any one director other than manirathnam have had their movies titled in pure tamil or have stopped using fully-tamil songs?

  Contributing to IR album thread. I listen to new IR albums as they release in tamil (not MFM/TeluguFM). His new albums are just average except pithamagan and virumandi. Well that\'s what I feel about them. So there is no need to write in that thread. When virumandi came out, I liked, was excited and I was the one wrote about the songs with small review first in TFM page. Obviously you had not read it or ignored or you are having selective memory :)

  Well bashing thundu bhai and bashing MR are two different things. I don\'t want to bring thundu bhai here in this thread, people intend to discuss about MR here. Initially liked mani in Mounaragam, nayagan, IT, roja(yes, it\'s indeed by thundu Bhai if you have forgotten). I have said that even in AE thread. I didn\'t say his Roja was bad because he used thundu bhai. So my point is irrespective of mds, i do/don\'t like his movies. After watching Nenjaththai killathe and God father, I doubt how original he is. The other day I was watching Footloose and I was immediately reminded of IT (I am not talking about the whole movie, just few scenes).. I am still not sure whether he copied or inspired from the movie, I need to watch IT again to find out. As a director, his movie making style is just annoying and artificial now. He tries to imitate hollywood style movie making. This was not happened after he left IR, even with IR he had started. Just watch Anjali/thalapathi, you will know.

  Well, I feel mani is at the verge of retirement. it will be tough for mani to be successful anymore not because of the MD he uses but his work as a director is/has been in question. Also there are new, young talented guys in the industry. I like the new comers, bala, cheran, GM, Selavaragavan etc.. Couple of them don\'t use IR, so what? they are good at what they are doing. I am yet to see a director like Mahendran in tamil, he is way way better than this hyped up mani. So I wish IR should team up with some new director who does magic like Mahendran and certainly not with Mani. He will fade away just like KB, BR soon!

  rs, granted that Mani has a good taste and some originality when it comes to naming his movies.They are often poetic like Mouna raagam, Kannaththil Muthtamittal etc. Aidha ezhuthu was a great choice as well considering the theme of the movie. In contrast Kamal has been disappointing. Avvai Shamughi is the worst title for a movie, I dont care if he wanted to honor someone.He has just been having his character names as movie titles just like most heros/directors do these days. Adhula kooda originality illa.

  Selvaraghavan- Thulluvadho iLamai, kaadhal kondaen, 7GRC. All nice lovely subjects. Very decent movies that even new born babies can watch.

  Selvaraghavan will go the cheeee group the moment he changes the MD. Even if he uses SA Rajkumar as MD, he will become matter movie director.

  But foreign movies inspire panni padam edutha udane cry foul..
  
  Padam title la enna irukku. I think Virumandi would have been a hit even it had been named as Dr Krishnasamy or Dr Ramdas.
