Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”

Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.

Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

  Inspiration is different from 'Lifting'.
  Reading an one-line news from a newspaper's 7th or 8th page and developing that into a 2 hr movie is "IONSPIRATION".
  Watching an 'award-winning' movie in a foriegn language and copying the same 3 characters whose lives interwined on one evening's happening is called "LIFTING".
  So, dont try to cover it up. But I am not saying anything wrong about 'lifting' as well. As long as it isa clever one and transformed into a decent movie, it is ok with me.
  I am only cross with some of us who defend anything done by his/her favorite artists but bash anything and everything done by those whom they hate. That's disgrace!!

  have u seen the movie 'AMORES PERROS'? My cousin has, and he watched AE too.. he said there's no similarity in the films except for the fact that there are 3 characters and that the important scene comes first w/ flashbacks to sketch their characters. If u say that's the whole point of the film.. well, OK. good for u. "Mani's a blatant lifter" if it makes u feel any better. :)

  the wonder yrs?wtf hahahaha u gotta be kidding me.have you seen the wonder yrs?it has nothing to do with the story of the movie.or even the way its told.ur out of ur mind kiddo.u may whine abt "Loves a bitch", cuz the way the story is told is lifted from that movie.mani himself says that, the story is different not the screenplay.but it is new to indian cinema.

  I'm a great fan of MR too and have been following his work with great interest. But it is a fact that MR has indeed copied some scenes from Akiro Kurosawa's (AK) movies. AK is MR's favourite director. Kutti paapa Anjali slapping her mother in "Anjali" was taken from an old b&w movie of AK where a doctor tries to give medicine to a 12-13 yr old girl. Rajini's scenes on the horse including the hair style in Sundari kannaal oru seidhi song in "Dalapathy" was copied from one of AK's action movie, the name of which I fail to recollect now. This was shown on a 2 hr program on PBS channel about 2 yrs back. You may find this info on AK in pbs.org. Nayakan - most of the story and scenes including Kamal's acting was taken from Godfather, but surprisingly, MR never agreed to that. Of course, it was very well Indianised and I like each bit of Nayakan.
  
  So, I won't be surprised if he did anything like that this time too.

  curses, I've pretty much seen close to 100 episodes and more of TWY and know what I'm talking about :) MR's style of dialogs and screenplay is not peculiar - I stand by what I said!

  Why are you getting mad? I was only referring to a fact. Oh, yes, i forgot to add one more to the above class! Apart from, Inspiration, Lifting, there is a third one, called copying which means doing scene by scene of a different language movie into your own. AE is definitely not a 'copied' movie but certainly a 'lifted' one and definitely not an 'inspired' movie.
  To tell you more,here are some examples:
  "Nayagan" is an "inspired" movie. MR sees Godfather and the theme inspires him to think of Varadha Mudaliyar in Bombay and makes his own story and scenes
  "AE' is a "lifted" movie. MR sees "AP" and follows the same pattern with his own genius mind.
  "Avvai Shanmughi" is a "copied" movie where not only the theme, story but even the scenes are almost the same!
  Hope you got it!
  Inspiration-- theme only
  Lifting-- Theme and story
  Copy-- above two+ scenes also
