6 Songs : Mind Blowing!!

Simply mind-blowing
November 20
Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”
Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.
Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

I watched the movie again last night and I was able to relish it without too much stress.
*spoiler*
Maddy's jeep doesn't have a solar guard, what was Ratnam thinking Do killers want to leave their identity?
Surya is hit by three bullets, flings into water from 50 feet, he still remains conscious after rescue and gives his telephone number to arjun.
Does ratnam know there’s something called delirium?
Some rare flaws in a ratnam movie!
*end spoiler*

Another doubt that I had:
Sidd applying for a visa, which was not known to his father. Is there any kind of visa to the US that does NOT require a parent/guardian's approval or signature somewhere (say a bank statement)? Also, in all probability, Sidd would have applied for a student visa..I am sure you need some authorization for that.
Can someone who has gone through the entire process please clarify my doubt?

BeN,
i agree the songs are nice .but BGM ?
1.It was very nice to have three themes for three characters ..
2.But for surya'[s character ,ARR relied on the sound and not the volume of the sound rather than the composition which i found was distracting ...
3.For madhavan ,at lot of places ,BGM spoils the dialogue ..Madhavan's character requires some deep ,disturbing orchestral music with occasional percussion in my opnion ...
4.But ofcourse for Sidaarth ,the BGm was very very apt ..

I found Madhavan's BGM to be the best. It brought out the erratic nature of Inba to the core. An orchestration would signify something in accord..but thats not true in the case of Inba. The slow guitaring at irregular intervals amplified the confusion in him to the fullest. Again, all this is IMO.

Is the Top Songs prog in Sun TV still the same one where there is an irritating spoof going on for 25 mins, and the songs are played for 5 seconds or so?

Yes ~sridhar,it's the same.anyway it's been a long time since Sun Tv's Top 10(Songs&Movies)has lost it's credibility. There are not clear as to how they come up with the list&there have been many instances where their pro/anti bias has been displayed very shamefully.I have quit watching their watching these programmes.According to me Sun's best programme is 'Rudra Veenai'on wednesday's at 8.30pm.

I feel the guitar does express teh confusion ..But equally Madhvan's character is a forceful character who wants money ,fame ..I feel that element is not refelected ...teh score i had was something on the line so f karisal karisal from Tajmahal ( a small strinsg peice is there ) ..

This Guy Taran Adarsh posted a horrible review for Yuva. When that is the case, he would not dare to say the real box office figures. Why didnt he come up with actual box office numbers and say how much a flop movie is? Mudiyadhu avan aala. Avlo dhaan.
Abhishek acting nalla irukku. new type of story telling. ARR music excellent. Ravi K Chandran camera wonderful, slick editing. But padam disappoints illa?

Mani Ratnam’s bilingual - Yuva in Hindi and Aayitha Ezhuthu in Tamil - has been torn by critics and savaged by his colleagues in the industry but at the box office, the films have taken a bumper opening.
In Bangalore, both the versions have taken an extraordinary opening in 30 screens with 93 percent occupancy for the weekend setting a new record.
In Mumbai and New Delhi multiplexes, the week-end tickets of Yuva were sold out in advance and in US the film has done $ 200,000 in the opening weekend.
Back home in Chennai Aayitha Ezhuthu has registered 100 percent opening at all the five theatres, thanks to the brand equity of Mani Ratnam which was able to get the film such a good opening.

Ayutha Ezhuthu
Director: Mani Ratnam
Music : ARR
*ing madhavan,surya,siddharth,trisha,meera jasmine,esha deol
Plot Summary: 3 different people
2 going for the same goal
1 solution.
Bad:
* After climax scene no transaction scene to get from climax to conclusion (though it works it the ending could have been made a lil smoother seeing how the movie is well etched out all the way upto the point)
-all the rest of this is nit picky stuff-
* More BGM could have been used.(i feel this is the case whenever thamizh cinema uses sync sound this tend to happen)
* Still has that usual Mani Ratnam slowness in parts (i find this in all his movies so really doesnt matter much)
Good:
* Screen play is excellent-except for the part i mentioned above-the viewer is never lost as to what is going on.the way the 3 stories intertwine to one is well done.
* Special Effects (though not hollywood quality) for once i see special effects used to aid the story and not as a selling point.(there are other movies too which have done this too Alai Payuthey and 12b come into my mind but neither used it this well)
* Action scenes are very good.none of the dishum dishum nonsense, but actual fight sounds. Action scenes are quick and to the point so the viewer is not bored.
* BGM is awesome. The bit song used with Madhavan and Meera whenever they make up si very soul full. The one used during the chases (used twice) makes you wanna run too and draws the viewer into the movie.
* Songs are used well in the movie.they arent unnecessarily placed in the movie, but are used as part of the movie. No silly dances. I think that is wat upset many people who are saying that the songs arent picturized well.
* Acting is First rate.Madhavan excels as the nonchalant villain.surya as the revolutionary that is laid back and ready to strike at any moment fits perfectly. Siddharth as the carefree youth fits.Meera Jasmine steals the show out of the female character (though kind of annoying at times but thats the role she has the annoying wife) Trisha is cute and full of life.Isha plays the innocent girl quite nicely and should do more films down south.

Overall & Other comments:
A very good movie for the mature audience.kids won't enjoy this, those looking for a masala movie, carefree movie, or a time pass movie will not enjoy this.I strongly recommend this movie for those looking for good cinema.
It is obvious this is selected for abt the Highschool and above range and they will enjoy this movie. One can tell Mani is trying to go to the next level with this movie and doesnt want the movie to have a "Mani" touch to it.Meaning hes trying to do away with preconceived notions of how his movie should be like, and if this movie fails its because the audience goes in with a preconceived notion of what a "Mani Ratnam film should be like." I'm hoping for more movie that choose to experiment a little.
And for those who keep saying the narration is knock off of "Loves a Bitch" that's true Mani Ratnam himself said this in an interview so whats the point you're trying to make?He himself said this movie is inspired from that.
And if you watch this movie be prepared to have Jana Gana Mana stuck in your head for at least 2-3 days.
