Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”

Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.

Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

  I know Ferrari,however much we respond to his views rationaly,he never seems to respond&sticks to his irrational views.He,kanna have closed minds&are not open to debates.It's better to ignore them than to get worked up&waste time typing responses.

  To Ratnam? I never said the names you are mentioning to ratnam. I am just saying he is overrated and he is not that great as Media projects out.. If you compare his previous works with Mahendran's work, Mahendran is a better director and definitely scores above him.

  Yes, it is definitely 100 times better than Muthu/Padayappa/Baba. It was presented well compared to other masala movies churned out by KSR alike previously. If you think Muthu/Padayappa/Baba were good masala movies, I can't help you. When I said Dhool is differently presented I compared them with masala movies and I am not that crazy to compare dhool with middle cinema autograph/virumandi. Wasn't that understandable?

  Yes, you need to compare Ramana with Shankar's Indian head to head. Ramana was a well made movie compared to Indian. Indian has lots of unwanted characters like goundamani, senthil (atracious comedy track) and girls running in naked (well almost). Ramana was just so focused. The whole movie was so serious and still interesting. I know you will come up with statement saying that VK is better than Kamal by Nattamai. Nope, certainly not. I was talking about the movie not the actors.

  And I dont see how Dharani's movies becoming hits is an healthy trend for Tamil cinema. It actually pullls us down.
  
  Overall I was talking about the current state of tamil film industry. I don't compare them with mani. All types of movies are getting better now, that was my point. Today's tfm is in the hands of directors (actors help to a certain extent ofcourse) who are doing good job. I think tfm is at its best now. I think movies like Jaggubhai will pull us down for sure. I am happy that only good movies run!

  If one sees in DVD, films like, Idhayakoil,Pagalnilavu,Agninatchathiram,Dhalapathi,Thiruda thiruda,Iruvar,Alaipayuthey, and now YUWAor AE that person will certainly laugh at Manirathnam....Oh I had left this stupid film UYIRE.....Mani Rathnam is Over rated film director with limited creativity...A.A.

  Well IR was heavily heavily inspired from symphonies, it has been proved does that mean IR is not real.
  I find a lot of maniratnam bashers are making pro IR posts, you guys bash maniratnam because he never patched up with IR.
  nobody is calling maniratnam as the best movie maker in the world, in India he is one of the best.

  Hey...come on guys...AE is one of the better movies which were released in recent times..comparing to the stupid Arul, Kuthu, Kovil etc...
  
  I wouldn't rate this as Mani's best movie, but its obvious that the puts in a lot of effort.
  
  There are a lot of plus points in AE:
  
  - excellent BGM
  - real fight sequence (much better comparing to the silly fights scenes in Gilli)
  - superb performance by all the cast
  - brilliant camera work
  - superb songs (although picturisation is average, except "Fanah", "Sandai Kozhi", "Jana Gana Mana")
  
  I've watched this movie twice & find this is a much better Tamil movie compared to other tamil movies released recently..

  Jaya,
  I beg to differ as i am a hardcore IR fan&strongly believe that Mani-IR team was just too good compared to the Mani-ARR.In fact i was very disappointed when they cracked up but at the same time i will not talk crap about Mani.He is one of the best directors in India today&there is no doubt about that.Plz don't generalize,not all IR fans behave like that.
