6 Songs : Mind Blowing!!

Simply mind-blowing
November 20
Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”
Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.
Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

Agree with Jacky...
Objective criticism is absolutely accepted...but it seems you are hell-bent on declaring the movie a flop and disappointment. And me too a Mani fan...but what's there called expectation on a Mani film..Do ppl always expect him to make a movie with stars speaking in dim-lit rooms in their lowest voices? He has broken out of his mould and that has confused a lot of ppl it seems..let's c.As of now ,i definetely think AE is going to become a hit..that's sure..the fate of 'Yuva' is doubtful,as 'Main hoon naa's and 'Kal ho naa ho' stuff are the business stuff there in bollywood...
If one dir does something differently ,ppl brand it as disappointment...didn't expect this from him etc,etc...,if he follows the usual pattern..again ppl jump onto criticise that the man is getting monotonous...what to say?

Jacky and Thamizhan.....mates....when it comes to Mani....I die harder than most! The pain and disappointment I suffered cannot be explained by words. I grew up watching Mani grow in stature. I was inspired by him...to an extent that I wish i could make movies like him.
I had bought 16 tickets for the night show in Sydney on the 21st to take my entire family and friends convincing everyone that it will be worth their time. I walke out of the theatre wondering...is Mani losing it completely?...is he aging?....is he confused? .....is he not sure of himself? Many such questions....but what worried me most was....something that I never expected from him.....Can Mani will ever waste such good talents and contributions....Surya, ARR, Ravi K Chandran...etc. Infact... I am a disturbed man...very much!
So....don't misunderstand...I don't get any pleasure in ensuring this movie is not a success. But...true...I get annoyed...when some of you just make a classic out of an average or below average movie and try to find positive feature here and there...just to get a positive message out there of the film. Now my question is ...why are you all so biased? Don't tell me that you are not biased and you all are doing it because you all are well wishers of tamil cinema and you want all movies to run. I can't accept that because you don't lose an opportunity to criticise an already very successful Vijay's Gilli or a Surya or a Vikram film.
I guess...you would have read my earlier posting with a request for everyone to be objective and unbiased with your views. Frankly....at the end of the day.....it is neither your 'wish' nor my 'comments' will determine the fate of AE. It will be determined purely by the market forces which will be based on what value do the consumers percieve from AE. And....nothing can change that!
Let us not make a classic out of a Mani film or brand a Kamal film 'unique' or 'different' just because they come from Mani or Kamal. It will do more harm to them in the long run than do any good!!! Peace.....;-)
PS. curses....what do you expect 'Madan' to say about a 'Mani' film?.....;-)

I saw the tamil and hindi version of AE. First I saw the tamil and I was very disappointed. Then I thought to myself I want to see the hindi version too. But when I saw the hindi version i was greatly disappointed that neither touched me. It was just an okay and boring. The problem of the movie was that Mani told the story with no suspense. The main three characters go through three parallel lines and end in one line, but if the story began with one line and then go into three parallel lines and then end into one, that should be good. But Mani started with no beginning. That's the problem in the movie.

Kannan,
Please don't use this forum as a punch bag if you feel you haven't got anything worth the tickets price.
You can't vent out your anger by saying people make a classic out of one ordinary film.
Majority here feels its not upto Ratnam's standard.
We discuss some postive aspects of the film and i don't know how that can elevate a so-so film to a classic, your understanding is strange.
PEACE.

Madhavan goes to jail and gets life sentence for killing his own brother and for also trying to kill Surya. Surya enters politics as a student and Siddarth quits going to US and assists Surya.
Barathiraja doesn't get caught for getting Maddy to kill Surya.
Mani lets us down all!
ARR is confused. His bgm is a confusing with all variation is thrown in. His songs are totally synthetic to the whole movie.

Mani should take recluse for 2-3 years, sit back and watch how he made Mouna Ragam, Nayaga, Roja and then make movies. The movie is not well received among the folks here in Melbourne.

The Tamil version of "Yuva" has already been declared a hit in Tamil Nadu. The fate of the Hindi version is undecided.
A few Mumbai critics have given the Hindi version very cold reviews. One review of "Yuva", posted on a leading
website Thursday after the film's screening in New York, has Mani Ratnam favourite Madhavan fuming.
"How can they review a film before it's out in the theatres? Isn't that unethical? We know how hard we've worked on the film," Madhavan said.
According to some reports, leading lights of the Bollywood film industry are sending SMSs to Mumbai from Singapore saying "Yuva" is a disaster.
"This is nothing but mafia mentality at work to keep
Mani Ratnam out of Bollywood. How can anyone pass a verdict on the film after one screening?" wondered Madhavan.
Interestingly the same backlash from Bollywood's representatives had occurred after Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Devdas" had been screened at Cannes two years ago.
Does Bollywood feel threatened by Mani Ratnam?
"Most certainly," asserts Madhavan. "Otherwise why try to write off such a brilliant work of art like 'Yuva'?"

Yes, his last well made movie was Roja. But I don't think 2-3 years of retirement will do good for him. His movie making style drastically changed from Mounaragam period. It will be really really tough to get back to that point. Now he is more into technical aspects than doing good narration. He lost it somewhere in his journey. Recently I saw 'nenjaththai killathe', it was almost like Mouna ragam. Even camera angles are same. Mani should have got inspired from it. Anyway I am yet to see a director like Mahendran in tamil film.
---Does Bollywood feel threatened by Mani Ratnam?
"Most certainly," asserts Madhavan.
Madhavan has got great humour.
