Hi! We've made a major addition to newtfmpage, and that is a big song bank. Dhool features thousands of songs for your listening pleasure. This site is a part of the newtfmpage.com - swara.com group. Together with newtfmpage, we wish to make this the best place to listen to tamil film songs online and know about tamil film music. Our collection includes old, new, famous, rare and unheard of songs. We are still fine tuning and fixing the database errors, so please bear with us. We value your feedback, and this will help us build the site better. Please post your comments below or mail to comments@newtfmpage.com.
This work was done by us (bb and RR) with MS and swara.com ravi.

That was another gem of an old song. Thank You Saravanan. The prelude was superb and VasanthaGokilam was a pleasure to hear. She has a very seasoned voice and must have been a great singer. I loved to hear the song which had in it the slight hiss of those heavy LP records, which itself has some nostalgic value attached to such songs:) For a song recorded in 1940s the recording was of a very good quality.

bb, I forgot to ask you, what film is 'Naanalil Paai Virithu' from? I remember you mentionning this song when you featured that excellent song 'Santhakkavigal Paadidum.

Song of the Day: paadi vaa thendralE from mudivalla aarambam.
http://www.newtfmpage.com/cgi-bin/stream.pl?url=http://www.dhool.com/sotd/paadivaa.rm
- Sung by Jayachandran. Composed by Ilayaraja.
- The song has awesome guitar prelude and interludes. I rediscovered this song after a long time today. It was quite a find!
I don't know much about the film - Raajangahm has this film listed as released in 1984. It lists the other songs in the movie:
Aasaiyinnaa Aasai Amma Sutta Dosai Chorus,Gangai Amaran,Surendar SN
Aaththangkarai Thoppukkulla Chorus,Malaysia Vasudevan,Shailaja S.P.
Thennang Keertum Thenral Kaartum Kai Malaysia Vasudevan,Susheela P.
I could recognize only thennankeetrum thendral kaatrum from the above.

Good song, and a very popular one. Radio Ceylon started playing the songs in mid-1983 itself, and this song and 'thenankeetrum' were pongum poompunal favorites!
3 songs were written by Vairamuthu and 'aasaiyinna aasai' (GA, Ramesh & Krishnachandar) was written by Ravi.
The film was a big let down and certainly didn't deserve these songs. Mudivalla Aarambam (N.M.Enterprises/ 1984) starred Saratbabu, Jothi and Rajesh. I remember Saratbabu with a guitar singing this song, watched by Jothi. The film was directed by N.M.Mohideen.
The vikatan review said it all- mudivillaa a----rambam!

Thanks for the NCV's song. But I was hooked to the `eppO varuvArO' sung by madurai mani iyer, the uncomparable!
Thanks for the `pAdiva thendralE' also, for taking me to the golden days od Radio ceylon!

In one of the recent December isai vizhas, SangeethaShivakumar (then and now SangeethaKrishna) sang 'Eppo varuvaaro' , catering to audience's request, towards the end. Raj, the elders in my family used to argue over MS vs NCV and MKT vs PUC like how we eternally argue over IR vs ARR. The NCV supporters usually say MS was promoted by yesteryear bigwigs like Rajaji, TTK, Kalki, Sadashivam, Rasigamani TKC. For me , both of them are special though we had many Carnatic doyens like DKP, MLV also in TFM. MS's voice had the velvettish mellowness and terrific bhaavam while NCV's had amazing range and a ringing quality

NCV -our own Marlyn?
Slightly differing from Mythila- NCV's has more bhavams and could fit in any one of the 50s duets ;MS's voice is meant for Bhakthi where she will remain the unconquered queen forever.
Will someone make a shortfilm on NCV someday? The life of KBS,her love for SGK is cute little story and NCV's mystery -i wish someone like Mahendran try it out.

Song of the Day: iLamai naattiya saalai from kalyaaNamaam kalyaaNam.
http://www.newtfmpage.com/cgi-bin/stream.pl?url=http://www.dhool.com/sotd/ilamain.rm
- A wonderful Vijayabhaskar song for the weekend. Sung by T.M.S and S.Janaki. Thanks to Udhaya for this song; I had never heard it before.
- Udhaya writes:
Ilamai naattiyach chaalai from Kalyaanamaam Kalyaanam. MD - Vijayabasker, sung by SJ, TMS. The pallavi springs us to an enchanted space of revelry. Very few songs do this for me, (the start of SendhoorappoovE, chittukkuruvikkenna kattuppaadu, sondham eppoathum thodarkathaithaan are other songs that have this effect). While SJ is all melody and nurturing nature, TMS belts out "aathangaraiyil" in a very different mood. The magic lies in how VB mediates these two moods in his composition.
- I am not so sure about the TMS intervention. The song was in a different plane with SJ and suddenly plunges down with TMS, in my opinion. A full-fledged song with just the "mood" of SJ would have been great.
- Reva posted the lyrics of this song:

This song is for Jaishankar and Jaychitra. Jayachitra comes to the village from the town. Jaishankar is a village idiot and he sings with her. This is a ulta of Pattikkada pattanama movie. Jaichitra in JJ role and Jai is in Sivaji's role. Directed by Chitramahal Krishnamurthy as full comedy movie. This is his secnd directed movie, after Then kinnam. He set a trend in tamil movie with low budget and quick finish. that time he introduced VB and his music was hit also. A nice song to listen.
