I heard on a brief Sun News last night that Rajini has announced his next movie after 3 years, to be titled "Baba". I missed out the details though.
Does anyone know who the MD is?

Please refrain from using **s and personal attacks. There r plenty of people each of us find damn irritating at this forum I'm sure, however imagine wat wud happen if each of us decided to express our irritation and contempt.
I know tat Gowri sounds very authoritative when she says anything, however pls keep in mind it is jus her personal opinion. And she's entitled to it like u r to urs. If u had omitted ur first post and the first line in ur second post, it wud have been perfect and cud have expressed ur views even more effectively.
Having said tat, I'm not surprised tat Rajini called IR for the music. If I were Rajini, I'll give a call to IR no matter wat the nature of my movie might be (I mean, even if I knew tat he'll be turning me down anyway) jus for politeness sake. It doesn't really matter. Let's not start bashing either IR or ARR over something petty like this.

Whynot,
Gowri has some real problem with IR (looks like turned down romantic affair or something)... If she has strong opinions about HCIRFs, it's understandable. But that's often not the case but she really spends half of her lifetime heaping abuses against a creative artiste (who is not even interested in mainstream movies)... supported by people like you who don't care a damn about her abuses but keep showering advices for irate fans?
Why would anyone go back to IR, unless they are hardcore fans? is one of her idiotic remarks... which she makes knowing very well that most of IR's 800 odd movies were repeat orders (some even grudgingly given by people like GV)...

"supported by people like you who don't care a damn about her abuses"
kozhuppu, I dont know wat gives u the idea tat I'm supporting her. In fact I have disagreed wit some of her statements before. Even in the thread "Greatest Contribution of IR", I stated in a post to tigger tat I did not agree tat they were IR's greatest contribution. My post above is another example of tat, as while she says there's no chance Rajini wud have called IR, I thought otherwise.
If you want to talk about abuses on IR, I can give u examples the other way round: Abuses on ARR by self-confessed IR fans. The difference is tat no one makes personal attacks on these guys or uses *** to them. If you need evidence, pls read statements by Ravana, Aswathama, etc etc day in and day out. U dont see ARR fans saying their blood is boiling, calling them the anti-ARR team, and talking about returning balance to the forum, despite all that. Most (tho not all) ARR Fans seem to adopt the ignore them policy or objectively state their differing opinions. Hence these abuses pass by without much notice, but they r still there.
There is another reason why I'm quick to defend Gowri. In the case of ROTFL, etc, u'll notice tat the moment someone abuses him, he's quick to defend himself and hurl back abuses. Hence, I know tat there's no point in me interfering. However wit Gowri, I have yet to see her hurl back personal attacks (PA) at other DFers, so I feel there is some point in asking others from refraining ***s and PAs.
Telling others to refrain from making personal attacks does not mean tat I agree wit what the (personally) attacked party had jus said.
Let me quote Voltaire (tis not the first time I'm quoting tis in this forum):
"I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

Isai Priyan, good link. Thanks for posting it here. Now we know who rajini actually preferred
:-), but who he finally had to settle down with. ;-)

I want to relate a personal experience.
I had two free tickets to watch a movie last month. I wanted to ask my best friend to follow me. However, my mum knew about the free tickets I had and due to my love and respect for my mum, I naturally asked her first if she wud want to follow me. The movie was Rat Races and I knew it was not exactly in my mum's area of interest. But I asked anyway, knowing pretty well she'd say no. And she did. So I asked my best friend next who agreed to watch the movie wit me. Naturally my best friend was my first choice, eventhough I asked my mum first out of respect. And I'm sure my mum knew I expected her to say no, but didnt mind as she is too mature to get petty over some movie.
Moral of the story:
Dont fight over petty issues like who was asked to the movies first. :-)
ps: no one is invited to make extensions/modifications to tis story as I hold the sole copyright.

I'm not denying tat IR and Rajini have a deeper relationship, twilight_zone. That is why I chose a mother figure for my analogy. Wit ARR, Rajini is going for him purely for professional reasons. If ARR's music for Muthu and Padayappa hadn't been a success, he wud have been discarded straightaway. Same for tis forthcoming project as well.
btw, wudn't it be nice if Mummy's fans exercised the same maturity as mum?

so this supplants my earlier post months back...when Rajini does want to do a heavy weight film, IR is his most prefered option :-) [i had mentioned the film on "thiruvannamalai" then, but it has happened in BABA's case.]

Does this fact that Ilayaraja declined to compose music for Rajnikant signifies anything? At least i dont see any.
Maybe, If i were so desperate, I would conclude , now that my great Guru rejected the movie, it only means the whole movie should be one flop or its not in the 'high country of the mind' where my Guru roams about. So naturally, such a low-quality movie should indeed to go to rahman..
but i will pray, that someday the truth will come out that rahman got this offer only after Adithyan and Rajkumar had refused to do the movie.

whynot, does this not prove that 'commercial' motives have long been discarded by IR. This is why it doesn't make any sense when someone pathetically said,"IR tried as much as he cud to enter the hindi film world", few days back. I hope such people atleast understand now. But i can only hope :-)
Thank you once again Isai Priyan for that link

You calling Gowri an imbecile is actually worth a ton of respect.
Being a low-life without a name, it is best not to get a compliment from you as that would be worth the rubbish you are.
Anyway, it is good when low-lives get together and provoke Gowri. Without responding to them, she stirs up more dirt on IR.
So, moron :-| (@ 128.107.253.44), continue heaping abuses on Gowri. You Asked For It. :)

As the Chinese would say, I have grown more hair on my upper lip and shaved than all your body hair. :)
Therefore don't nitpick. This habit of picking on simple mistakes thereby trying to obscure the real issue, is amusing, to say the least.

No.
IR may have discarded commercial motives, I'm not denying tat, but this does not prove to me any such thing. It jus proves to me tat IR was shrewd enuf to see thro a polite request and ARR is more commercially tentative than IR from Rajini's viewpoint.
