Why are most of the songs by Malaysian Tamil bands & artistes are all sounding the same ???
I mean most of the songs are based on the same simple drum beat, screeching guitar sound, fast-rap like shouting vocals, etc which is the trend started by those "saavi" band and their song
"sister's daughter". They somehow call this style as "samba rock".
Any "ulloor" (local) Tamil song you listen to, whether in radio stations, TV, audio shop, functions, etc ... you will listen to this type of song only ... Why do the bands & artistes just copy or follow this style ? Are there no other styles in music or they don't know any other style that exist in music ?? Are there no creativity among Tamil musicians in Malaysia ??
Most of the Malaysian Tamil songs are in this style that one music director from Tamil cinema thought this is Malaysian Tamil music and used it in his song "O podu". Now many Tamil cinema songs are using this "O podu" style ...
Just because that "sister's daugther" song somehow became famous among Malaysian Tamil youth, the other bands, artistes, recording labels, producers, etc are just churning out songs only based on this "kaatthaan" sound ... when you listen to the sound, it reminds you of uncivilized jungle inhabitants dancing wildly & performing their rituals ...
Also the Malaysian Tamil bands & artistes ... they all look like drug addicts, criminals, cult worshippers, gangsters, etc. Long untidy hair, weird moustache-beard styles, ear-rings nose rings, black attire, angry look like want to whack somebody, etc ...
Even their band names & album names sound crazy & gothic ... "sudugadu", "devil ana", "peyi", etc. All they know is heavy metal, rock, rap, hip-hop ... only the youngsters who are same "case" like these bands & artistes listen & support them ... nobody else listens or support this so called "musicians" ... bcoz there is really nothing to enjoy in these songs ... just unpleasing sound ...
if want to criticize more, can keep on going but only wasting time ... what happened to Tamil music in Malaysia ? Is this Tamil music in Malaysia ? Nobody can do real good music among Tamil people in Malaysia ?
"...vaalga Malaysia Tamil isai ..."

I'm a big fan of tamil music and i can"t say no to the fact that our Malaysian music is just a shame. But, there is one composer who has changed my opinion. She is none other than Rekha Raveendran.Once, my friend gave me a cd and told me to listen. I was so excited after listening and i called him to find out which movie was those songs from. He told me that those were Malaysian music from the cd called Geethanjaliz and composed by rekha Raveendran and sung by Vanavil Padal Thiran pooti 2002 singers. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT. It has all the quality to be included in a tamil movie. The song Roja pookal Parthaley is like the 80's illayaraja style ,it is so nice. Kaval nila has the harris jayaraj / ar rehman style and it reminds me of vaseegara.Beautiful. I love the other songs as well.I'm so happy to see a REAL MALAYSIAN MUSIC IN GEETHANJALIZ. But, what i don't understand is that why our so called drama directors or malaysian movie directors do not approach her. They can even include the songs in their movie/ drama.I'm eagerly waiting for her next cd and i'm sure she could do well if she works in Indian Film.Infact her music is far better than Yuvan shankar, baradwaj and even Deva. If u don't believe me, listen to it. Trust me, they are really worth the money u buy them. For the so called "malaysian Music" band....please go and learn sangetham from her!!!

Mr Suresh Kumar, rekha's music is made in india, released in malaysia.the recording was done in india, all india musician, that's why it sounds good.why don't you try listening to the recording that they did here, than you will know the difference.most of the composer's do only the melody.the arrangement of music, the intro, the between music is done by others who are never mentioned and forgotten.

"musician" thank you very much for your comment. i really appreciate it. You said that the music recording are done in India ant that's why it sounds good. Well, how come sometimes our malay song music are BETTER than our local tamil songs?? Are these Malay songs recorded in other countries?? The reason i'm not happy with our local tamil group is that the music has no quality and if they want the support of malaysian Indians, they have to come up with quality music and lyrics.

Mr.Suresh thank you for your respond, yes most of the malay albums are recorded in multi track here, but the finishing touch is done overseas.Have you heard of the term MASTERING,it is final process in recording before burning to master cd.malaysia we don't have experts in mastering.in India we have lots of them but only in film circuit.that is why from the 50's until now film music is different from others.Even if Ilayaraya did any songs out of cinema it will not sound to the standard.

About the Geethanjaliz CD ... composed by Rekha Raveendran.
Yeah, most of the work must have been done in India using film music technology & expertise.
This Rekha runs a studio called Digital Tones. They do a lot of jingles/advertisements & now produce local albums.
There is a guy Ahmed Faseeh from Maldives who helps her in the studio.
She only speaks English in the interviews.
The THR Ram & Anantha also have their studio called Synergy & doing the same thing. The guy Saravanakumar is working for them.
Yes, the recording quality of local Tamil songs are really not up to standards. All same equipments used in India - digital mixers, synths, modules, software, Mac/PC, etc., but the expertise & knowledge is not sufficient.
The difference is in India, they know everything well & do everything well - composition, arrangements, orchestrations, instrumentations,
recording, singing, lyrics, etc. That's why u can see example like A.R.Rahman's music - international standard.
