the people out here have some PREJUDICE against ARR. Thats the reason why u keep on doubting his genius. U mean to say ARR does not deserve the credits he gets??

on marketing & hype,
just think of mile sur mera tumara ( a song in DD during late 80s). It was a great composition, but no one knew who was the composer. They dont even cared. But songs like vande mataram we aired purely on ARR's name. Tell me is the previous song any inferior? Isnt it a irony?.

bharat baala cleverly capitalised on the hype by 50th anniversary-that is the only reason-if they were so patriotic, why didnt they go for a desi company to release thier album-they very conveniently ran to sony to release their album on vande mataram.that is where the big bucks are-isnt it ironic!I am not blaming them-given an oppurtunity i would have done the same if i had been in their shoes.but cut this crap about how patriotic this song is!

Again about mile sur mera tumara ...
The composers name is bhismen joshi. Not sure about the spelling. I dont know about him much either.
The reason why people take such good music for granted is IMO, when a good music is made on the traditional lines, they think this can be dont by anyone.
When they get to hear something that sounds more electronic (in addition being good or ok), they think it needs genius to make it.

I trying to explain why a song like mile sur mera tumara doesnt generate hue & cry for its composer.
please, tell me your view.

kk,
If "mile sur mera tumara" was recorded electronically and Bharat Bala promoted that song in 1997 do you sincerely think that song would have been as big a rage(pardon my English) as ARR's VandeMataram?
People have their own reasons for liking/disliking a song.If you take a disliked ARR song,I may say I don't like that song b'cos it's by ARR.Some one else would say it's b'cos Udit/Sukhwinder sang it.Some one else may say the second interlude is not creative at all.
I would think ARR's Vandemataram is good b'cos the tune is good.Your opinion is it's considered good only b'cos it's recorded electronically.Just out of two people we have two different views about a single song.
I think people are not that dumb to take a good traditional song for granted. To me,it's plain and simple. If a song is good, people would give the song its due appreciation (atleast in most of the cases) and vice versa.

arr got padmashri because he makes crores per film, such money will come of use in the future for election campaigns. but, i also think that he was a element for national integration of south-north, which IR did not achieve. IR's focus was on music not on national integration.

Trend,
BTW I never said vande mataram was a bad effort at all and didnt agree with others denouncing it. My only concern was why no one bothered to know who was behind mile sur song, which being so good.
So its plain and simple.thanks for your opinion.

1)The song 'Mile sur mera tumhara' ws composed by the renowned Hindustani classical singer Bhimsen Joshi. He sang part of it himself too. The song is in Raag Bhairavi.
2)There is one more such patriotic song that used to be shown on DD a few years ago - 'goonje ban kar desh raagam' - in Raag Desh I think. That was also really great.
3)In fact Lataji's original Vande Mataram from the 1952 film AnandMath has been totally forgotten today .That song is something that I would call as a MASTERPIECE. Another one by her is 'aakash ke us paar bhi' sung for the National Games, and yet another one is "jo samar mein ho gaye amar" for Jaidev in 1971
4)Now - all above songs are GREAT - but there is something very different in ARRs album 'Maa tujhhe salaam' - the title song, and the one by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (esp. the second one) are MARVELLOUS. Long live ARR!!!!

Well I hadnt asked u to parrot out the same crap again. Please give me a constructive reply for what I have said in my last post.

LV,
when this man ARR pronounces "thaai Manne Vanakkam" as
"thththaaii mannnneee vannakkkkkkaaammmm" , do
you feel patriotic or does your heart bleed for both tamil and for India!
And that too after listening "Enna Desamo, Idhu Enna Desamo! Ingu Poymai Koodiye Oru Vesham Podumo! Unmai vellumo" , a classic melody from IR which softens your heart both thrrough the music as well as the lyrics.
To compose such a song , your mind should be fertile, man. Nothing grows in Rahman's desert.

Raakshasan,
If ARR can't pronounce tamil properly, what can he do?I hope u don't think he's doing it purposely!!And how do u know he's not making an attempt to improve? But after all,he's brought out the right mood in the song.Don't u think so?

The true reason for ARR getting Padmashri is that "DiamondPearl" he talked to DMK functionaries down here fot both Rajni and ARR....Personally i would have been really happy if they given it to persons who did it classically.....simply b'cos it says our culture...our heritage....whats his total compositions all these years, How many recycles? How many lifted things? and certainly as long as u have people for promos...u will survive in India...otherwise...... :(

Sridhar Raman,
Till now you were launching personal attacks on people who criticized ARR but now you have shown your true colours by making such a comment about IR's voice.
Someone has already described how ARR's voice is. In fact his music is nothing better. It was a joke that he was awarded Padmashri.

Whatever it is, ARR deserves the award. In case of Rajini, I might agree with Unmai Sudum. Rajini himself must be laughing :)
Irrespective of whatever happens Raasa Raasaathaan.
