DIGRESSION
The sound of music song is this:
Do(e) a deer a female deer
Re(ay) a drop of golden sun
Me a name I call myself
Fa(r) a long long way to run
So(w) a needle pulling thread
La a note to follow so
Tea a drink I have with bread
That will bring us back to Do(e)....
Do re me fa so la te are the western equivalents of sa ri ga ma pa da ni, I suppose.
i love this song. shows learning can be fun when presented well. something kids (and adults like me) would enjoy and something for teachers to remember when they enter the classroom :-)...

I know it's "Darling Darling" song. All I could see is "I love you" parts are similar. Other than that, nothing is similar.

There is a song with Kamal and Madhavi.I don't know the film name but I think it's a dubbed film.
The starting lines of the song sounds like "Darling Darling" from Priya.
The first few lines of the song are:
"Anbe Anbe anbe paadum paadal inge...........nee indri naan yethu yennangal maaradhu........."
Anybody know who composed the music for this song?
Which movie has this song?

I think you are talking about 'mangamma sabatham', a Kamal-Madhavi starrer, with music by Shankar-Ganesh. But I think the song goes like, 'sorgaththin vaasal engE'.
The song you are mentioning is from 'apoorva sagotharigaL'. Again composed by S-G.

MR. SK
Rum bum bum is a rock and roll kind of song.....
The music u here from the begining, the base guitar pieces and the beat for the song are purely rock and roll!!!!
It always sounds like that no matter who uses it.
It might be handled by some music director in the past.... but the way he handled in rumbum bum is very different from other ock and rolls.
other rock and roll beat songs are
Anjali anjali anjali --- anjali
Roja poo aadi vandhadhu- ---- Agni natchatram
there are lot more i am not able to tell right away....

Great Flifo....
I am impressed with the sites u gave me. Especially the John Scott's comments. The other one which went on and on and on was my god! he had analysed soooo much.
He was true in most of his views. Except for the one SK spotted.I am sure the percentage of songs IR had repeated in his movies are very less compared to ARR's. My recent discovery was parkadhe parkadhe ..... was copied from an african song "kailale kailale" it is exactly the same!!!!

An identical song to Rumbum Rumbum is " Paatellaam Super Hit thaan Kettuko" from Rasayya. Another Rock and Roll.

Trend, `anbe anbe anbe' is from pAdum vAnampAdi (Tamizh dubbing of Disco Dancer, music Bappi Lahiri)...I heard the original western song of Jimmy Jimmy (forgot the name of the troop, almost 15 yrs back)...Bappi Lahiri used to lift left & right...

BoneyM!
The words `Sunny' and Darling sound exactly the same (except that the IR version has it told thrice) and the tune continues to be the same till `I love you'...Definite lift...Orchestration is different, saranam may be different...but a black mark for IR nevertheless:-(

Do Re Me Fa song was also copied by Chandrabose in Raja Chinna Roja song (Poo Pooppol Manasirukku) and again by IR in Chatriya (Poottukkal Pottalum).
Arun - your link is not working for me, can you give me the correct one pls?

Hey Karthik;
I left CBE in 1989. I regularly visit till 1996, After 1996 I have visited only twice. My parents and my entire family is still there. So CBE has specific marks such as Annapoorna, KGAC, Maruthamalai..etc...So whenever I visit I visit these places as many times as possible.
"Andha naal Gnabagam Nenjile Vandhadhe Nanbane..Nanbane..Nanbane..Intha Naal Andru Pol Illaye Athu En En En??"
I might visit in 2002. Hope to see you there by then....

Flifo and Arun,
How is that, when somebody mentions that IR seems to have been inspired (not copied..I don't use that word often without purpose) by some one, I see lot of you taking bows and arrows and say that -- it is a western note - nothing can be done about that, or they are completely different there is no similarity or some other reason. You don't seem to apply the same parameters to other MDs.
Give a thought to other MDs also yaar.
When ARR seems to have used a bit of a note from some other compositions of IR or others and that to for a little bit of a portion, you people bash him as copy cat. And, when it comes to IR, then what a defensive stroke you play.
I didn't mean to fire a controversy. I just wanted to write, what I felt after reading all your postings here and also in the archive.
I have listen to almost all ARR and many of IRs good songs (not all -- I am just in my adolesent age for IR music). I find that their styles are completely different. And to say that ARR's here looks like song A of IR and there it looks a bit like song B is really ridiculus. In that case, I can say many songs of IR which I listend over the years might seem to me like some old tamil classic or hindi classic. IR has used them a bit either in the start(Pallavi --am I right) or in the middle(Charanam--I think --!Charanam means foot , that means last--OK leave it)
Take one example here.
I heard a song of IR --"Nee thaane Yen Pon Vasantham" from a karthik's film. The starting tune is very much like a old song "VELaadum Vizhigal, ingu ....(some thing here"). If you know these songs, just sing them and see.
Hc ARR fans can say that this is copy or can qoute examples like this. If they do so, then, I will say that they are doing a foolish job as hc IR fans have been doing. Similarities are bound to occur. I think, many of them (both ARR and IR fans) are under the illusion that they are the most intelligent one here.

eden (& Trend)
You are right. 'anbE anbE anbE' is from 'pAdum vAnambAdi'. There were 4-5 movies with this Bappi-Lahiri type music from S-G and I confused one for the other. So did Trend, I think :-))))

SK;
It comes to zero again; If you read my post above I just agreed with your comments. If there is a small portion of a direct resemblence (however small they are) one can always point out. Whether they were really inspired or just a mere coincidence...Desn't matter at all. The only reason why people hit out at ARR is that whenever, you hear any of his new releases there is atleast one song which resembles some of the earlier songs. Thriving to survive with the same stuff (no variety) is ultimately the reason for this problem. It is not we the only one doing this job. Singapore radio, Ceylon radio transmits regularly these things. There can be a way to estimate the originality of MDs
(No of inspired songs)
1- ----------------------- *100 = % originality
(Total No. of Songs by the MD)
IR stays way ahead of others, for sure.
I enjoy, and let the world be informative of these things. Nothing wrong.

First for swamiji.......
Anjali ajnali and roja poo aadi vandhahu are a different version of rock and roll.
Further ive played drums for the both the songs on many shows.
As ive mentioned earlier rum bum bum is a typical rock and roll
FYI
Pudhu mappilaikku from Apoorve sagotharargal is also a rock and roll type song.
For SK,
Please understand the difference between simillar and same!!!
There are only seven swaras and 72 mela kartha raagas in our music.
All the songs are permutations and combinations of these........
There is no wonder y the begining of some song sounds like the beginning of some other song.... coz IR had composed more thatn 6000 songs and needless to say how many songs were there in Indian movies before his time.
But.....
ARR's Muquala Muquabla last beat that comes in the song if u remember, is exactly the same beat that came in matha ooa a from Dr. Alban,
The base guitar piece that comes in Telephone mani pol the entire song is the SAME as The one that comes in "All that she wants is another baby"
En veetu thotathil poovellam is same as "naadha bindhu kaladhi namo namo" Thirupugah or thevaram
Uppu karuvadu is same as " endrum undhan alla perai sollu nalla " a sahul hammed's muslim number.........
The list goes on and on...........

I can give u a list of few songs that rehman songs resemble but not the same....
Immediately i could think of "Enna Vilai Azhagu"
is "Thanga Padhakkathin Melae" a old MGR number.
I will soon come up with a list of similar and same songs list...........
