that is an insult. I think TFMDs are talented enough to do that without any training :-)

I'll type out something for you in the afternoon (IST). Yesterday's Hindu paper is at home which features a pic of Deva & his 4 brothers with a title `humility is his hallmark' or something like that:-)

Chandy!
Here it is from `The Hindu', 7th July 2K
Humility is his hallmark
As one enters then house, the voice of MSS's Suprabhatham wafts thru the air.
The reception room is full of pictures of deities of whom the portrait of Bangaru Adigalar is prominent. IR's photo is also there.
Music director Deva, who has completed 300 films joins us and talks about music, his early life which was one of stuggle. Excerpts from the interview:
You have completed 300 films in 11 years. Don't you consider it an achievement?
Certainly not. I still feel I am learning music. If at all somebody thinks I have done something in this field then it is only with the help of my directors, producers and fans. As for music is concerned, my family members are in the music line and it is with their help I am doing it. I will not call it an achievement.
IR too is his family member, probably (Deva is IR's aNNan's sambandhi:-)

continued from S R Ashok Kumar's interview of Deva:
You say that you are still a student of music, can you elaborate?
I try to find out the present trend and follow it. everyday i do my home work. For an hour I write musical notes, listen to Beethoven, Mosart or some other musical genius and take a cue from them. This I do after a day's hard work and it gives me great pleasure and rejuvenates me for the next day.
What is the pattern of your work?
The starts for me with composing at 7AM. I go to the studio and sit with the director and give him various tunes. I feel the morning freshness makes the creativity in me blossom. But I do compose in the evening also when necessary. I do not stop with one or two tunes. I want them to take the best, so I give them enough tunes for them to select. Then in the afternoon, I do the recording and mixing. This goes on till late in the night. Listening to music masters would help me cut an album later on. In fact I have taken some tunes and used it in films also.

eden i think IR never acknowledged it..remember IR and family didnt attend Sangeetha-Bhaskars wedding?
Poor Deva he was cultured enough to attend karthik Rajas wedding inspite of the humility shown by the other family

Most part of the balance interview is not relevant to this thread. The last question and answer are a little bit interesting:
What is your aim in life?
I want to do something different and I am working on it. Somebody suggested that I do a gana style album. But I am at it and will do it as soon as possible. My tough assignment was the song in `Purusha lakshanam' which had 108 amman names. I feel that the name and the fame which has come to me is only because of my continued, dedicated hard work and the help which I get from my brothers. I owe my success to them and to other members of my family who supported me in trying times.
Interesting isn't it?:-)))

If you claim that the tune sung slowly will give you 'pulveli', then its a stretch!

SHYSUN,
hi nice to see you here also....apart from muthamil.com :-)
Still I am confused though ...maybe i got to get a good clip of Rod stewart. I thought muthamil would host it.still...pending.
Eden,

eden by the way, is the news from kungumam about the late visit to marriage by IR is true?

I was the person who exposed most of RDB's copied songs in rmim.
I find that in this forum, Deva is compared with RDB which IMO is the insult. For all his copying,
RDB has come up with sufficient original songs,
many based on hindustani raagas which puts him at a much higher pedestial than the likes of Deva and ARR.
I can claim to have listened to almost all songs of RDB and ARR and to me there is no doubt that RDB is miles better than ARR. I admit I don't know much about Deva, and I don't care about him
too. However since I am rating RDB > ARR, I can automatically assume RDB > Deva :-)
I tell u what is the problem with ARR. He is original, but incredibly juvenile. His compositions are not worth remembering after few weeks of listening, by then one gets sick of it.
This is proved once again by his compositions of AlaiPayudhe. Same old juvenile songs.
Once again, while RDB's copied songs sticks out like a sore thumb, he had come out with terrific original songs which makes the second best indian composer in the last 3 decades. The first of course is Raja.
needless to say, all IMO.
