How far away is Ilaiyaraja from his 1000th film?

  XYZ..this spks of too strong a bias...soften a bit...there is no denying IR's unmatched leadership for the past 20 years...and he has achieved a lot and the standards have been raised very high..our generation of the 70s and 80s..it was the best...90s and 2000s..there is no denying the change in trend..sound..etc...this where we expect his genius to take over and still set the trend...I won't say he has failed...he has let his sons take over...maybe he doen't like it and prefers to call it a day...now if ARR started using IR-style orchestra interludes and electric guitar fill-ins, tabla rhythms...won't u all scream "murder" and dub ARR as an IR clone ?
  Maybe ARR is doing less than IR...better..let other fish also eat...why should it be a one-man show ? Why doesn't Rajni or Kamal do a film a month ? Quality is the answer...Tamil Filmdom ..it was ok for IR to churn out at rapid speeds...he had the genius to do so...ARR has to take into account a national audience...and he has also to contend with a giant like IR...not to sound similar and establish his own individuality...give him a break...he has done rather well for that...maybe he's not a born genius like IR but he sure does hard work and does make an impact...(maybe you can call this my bias...I can't recall any song from Bharathy right now...but I can recall the Bharathiar songs from Bombay Jaishree's "Atma" and the old ones...IR's work falls in between these two and doesn't appeal to me...I don't know why..I think it's my personal preference...I like modern synth sounds supporting melody and ARR satisfies me in this department...when I feel nostalgic I listen to 80's IR and enjoy it thoroughly..even profound MSV-Kannadasan songs - I wish someone would retune these songs with digital sounds without losing the original essence !)
  
  When I was allowed by my parents..I started to buy all IR's releases starting from Singara Velan..that's the time I had entered college...well everything was ok but my only grudge was that IR was not including synth sounds (I had this feeling way back in 1986 itself when I felt that IR could spruce up his compositions with synth pop beats - he did that in Agni Natchathiram. Even there he avoided a distorted synth snare popular in 80s pop songs in many of the songs and in "Nethu Oruthara Oruthara Parthom...he used a synth rhythm..cool and there it ended ...his tryst with digitech !)
  ...there was always the feeling of being held back in a certain era when possibilities of going forward were there...
  But that is IR's individuality and he stuck to it...I appreciate his boldness...but commercially he lost to a younger ARR...

  quality in rajni movies? hahaha. what a joke? anyhow, raja cannot do 1000 films. he is not interested. also, it is beyond him, considering his rate of films nowadays.

  Mahabs and Eden...FYI Rajini movies have their fans like IR's music...so let's not speak about Quality...and don't bring Mamooty and Mohanlal into this...IMO their films are for a different audience..and I don't watch malayalam films...one thing is I don't understand the language..Tamil films IMO provide a more balanced entertainment..and I'll rate a Rajini film ahead any day !
