Hi! We've made a major addition to newtfmpage, and that is a big song bank. Dhool features thousands of songs for your listening pleasure. This site is a part of the newtfmpage.com - swara.com group. Together with newtfmpage, we wish to make this the best place to listen to tamil film songs online and know about tamil film music. Our collection includes old, new, famous, rare and unheard of songs. We are still fine tuning and fixing the database errors, so please bear with us. We value your feedback, and this will help us build the site better. Please post your comments below or mail to comments@newtfmpage.com.
This work was done by us (bb and RR) with MS and swara.com ravi.

Name has everything to do in the land of legitimates. Only those intent on guerilla attacks shroud their identity. Only those shy of substantial comments make wimpy innuendos.
bb,
I know you think that the volume of participation is the gauge for a thread's success, but ever notice that the quality of discussions dips whenever IR or ARR songs are discussed? Wonder why? Wonder how long I have to suffer inbreds taunting me with their musical taste which rarely exceeds a 15 year frame of reference.
Vaathiyaar,
An IR and SJ duet is as mainstream as it comes. I'm no big fan of either singer, but I can come up with a handful of songs by both singers that are better than "thendral vandhu".
Coming to today's SOTD. "Mazhayum Neeyae" was the class of this soundtrack. But Maragathamani made the most of the limited opportunities he was given in the few Thamizh movies he got. Someday I'll find "Nivedha" from "Nee Paathi Naan Paathi" and SOTD will have gained another valuable song then. I remember chuckling at the irony of Mammootty singing, "kannithamizh panbaadu athai munnaetru" in "Jaathi mallip poocharamae" while he regressed Thamizh with his dialogue delivery.

There was another less famous song in "Nee paadhi naan paadhi" that featured Rahman and Heera. Do you remember what that song was?

bb I guess you are talking about "Kaalam Ullavarai nee paathi naan paathi song -SPB and chitra" .
You can listen to this song here.

bb- The singer was someone named Saadhana (or was it Sandhya?!)
I think the Rahman-Heera duet you are thinking of is 'Yaarai kettu eera kaatru poovai killum'-KJy-Chitra.

Balachandrar started getting obssed with the TV theme for expressing love with his kalyana akathikaL. MarakathamaNi was spotted and wasted by KB during his endless search post-IR.
I rate marakathamaNI (KK Keeravani for his Telugu fans and MM Kreem for Hindi) as one of the neat composers. One just needs to listen to kshana kshanam (ammaaye muddu eevantE, anthana nantha...), allari mogudu, allari priyudu, gharana mogudu, ...
I read somewhere that KChitra told thathithOm was one of the most challenging songs for her.

Song of the Day: vaanam panneerai thoovum from kaL vadiyum pookkaL.

- MD is Shyam. Sung by SPB. It came out in late 70s or early 80s. The film starred NizhalgaL Ravi and malayala actor Sreenath. This movie title might have been inspired from the line in "aayiram thaamarai mottukkaLE".
- This great song has SPB at his effortless best, and he just glides through the song. Listen to the charanams which are the highlights of the song (SPB singing "adi raaththiri veyilE" and the sangathi after it). I am not sure who the female singer is, might be T.K.Kala or B.S.Sasirekha. The sad part is that I could not find a single reference to this song in newtfmpage.
- "nenjaththil pOraadum eNNangaL", also by Shyam was featured in SOTD earlier.
- Shyam was an assistant of MSV and gave memorable music for few movies like uNarchigaL and manidharil iththanai nirangaLaa.
- Udhaya adds:
I think VM is the lyricist though not sure. As is the case with V.Kumar and Vijayabasker, Shyam is known for his strong melodies that surprise you with curt charanam turns when you least expect it. SPB goes all out for obscure songs in obscure movies, and he does so valiantly here. The enthusiasm and the way he waxes the sangathis in this song is a treat to behold.
What I mean by surprise is the abrupt way the charanam line ends with, " poomanjam poatta pin naalennaa paarpathu, poongaatru nanaigindra vaelai (pause) neeraadum poonguyil ( end, back to pallavi). The build up and the short bursts of charanam lines add a poetic effect.

The female voice is Kausalya.
KVP-1983 had two brilliant KJY solos: Ninaivilaadum azhago and Mazhaikkala Meganngal too.
Heroine was Nalini.

if im not wrong shyam is the MD for uchchakkattam which has a memorable song "buddhan kOOda piththanaagi siththam maari chellalaam; piththan kOOda budhdhanaagi thathuvangaL sollalaam".
- From: Vaathiyaar (@ 203.106.140.95)

Uchakkattam was by Shankar Ganesh. Their 100th move I think.
Udhaya, I agree with you totally about the inbreds. :)
Vijay, let us just take this thread, between you and Lollu, can you tell me who has been a greater nuisance? NOM :)
Today' sotd is by Shyam. His Madhanorsavam rathiyoduthaan inspired the recent popular Azhagoviyam uyiraanathu. SP Bala sang both songs, unfortunately the latter was better.
Lollu, please come out of hiding, it is okay. :)

Vaathiyaarae,
Wrong answer. Stand up on the bench. "Madhanoatchavam" from Sadhurangam was a V.Kumar knockoff of "Maanaa hey tum". Of course the original didn't have SPB, nor did it have fetching lyrics like, "vaelaadum kannil vizhundhu naan aadavoa, thaenaadum sevvidhazh thannil neeraadavoa". I wouldn't be surprised if Saravanan came and corrected me after this post.

Saravanan,
Perhaps you can help me here:
There's a mind-blowing SPB-Janaki duet, "MArgazhip pArvai pArkkavA, thAmaraik kaigaL sErkkavA". I used to have this song but the tape is damaged (perhaps thanks to repeated listenings of this number alone). I am unable to locate this song anywhere. Could you pl. tell me the name of the movie?
bb, if you could get hold of this number, please feature it in SOTD. It's a rare gem.
Thanks

As far as I remember, satyam was not an assistant to MSV. (Incidentally, yesterday's SOTD composer Maragathamani was Satyam's asst.). Shyam sure was MSV's asst.
adi raathiri veyilE oru paai pOdu mayilE - who else other than VM :). VK, Shyam, Vijaya Bhaskar were all vying for the same limelight while MSV was leading and Shankar-Ganesh was catering to the masses.
I have not seen this movie, but the situation for the song seems to be inspired by "Illamaiy enum pUnkARtu". Which ever was earlier - compare the class of IR.

hmmmmmmmmmmm! Vaathiyaar accuses vijay(Isaiosai/swarapriyan sometime back???) of all kinds of imagined bias. If I remember right, the gentlemanly impartial vijay was the only one who stood by av in the 'padmashree for tms' thread as Av got gheraoed by the pro-south lobby!
But hold your breath and take a look at the antics of this sickest mind to (dis)grace this forum...

As anyone with a basic grasp of IPs would say, these are all Class C IP addresses(first octet from 192-228) and the characteristic of such adds is that the first 3 set of octets denote the subnet, the last octet standing for a particular terminal. But I neednt explain more..the above listing is self-explanatory.
None of the nicks found above posted from a unique address.
None of these avatars spoke grammatically incorrect english(90% of malay tamils are deficient - NOM to them!)
None of these nicks ever made a balanced, impartial post.
Only one of these nicks were found to exist at any point in this DF.
It's common knowledge that 2/3 of ROTFLs threads(one attacking ambleen) were deleted by Admin last year. Then he switched to Aalavandhan and his thread "Adulations for Ilayaraja" got deleted again. Then multiple avatars followed.
Unfortunately, the posts by Shanmugam(@ 210.187) have been deleted. Otherwise I could confirm if its the same lowlife at work.
Boy, it really is something to have a lifelong commitment to obscenities and uncouth behaviour!

Tm is the widely used ISP in msia and though you will find all msian posts beginning with 202.188/203.106/210.186/7, take the first 3 octets as a set, that gives you the subnet.
And BTW, 61.8.74.210 seems to tranknu/ambleen's IP. Coincidentally am not able to get a network response from 61.8(ambleen), 64.246(tranknu) and 207.44.152.100(Platinov) :-))))
