bollywood vs kollywood!!!

I feel the Hindi audience, these days, is totally tasteless...seeing the kind of movies made in bollywood! They seem so unbelievably idiotic. And the music...even worse!!! Even lagaan and devdas, i feel were not as great as they claimed they were. Definitely not Oscar caliber :O When Lagaan was nominated for Oscar... we had pop-ups on MSN saying "Ask Spielerg to watch Lagaan"!!!! I mean idhellam konjam over-aa therialay??!! All the Hindi movies ever have is standard-aa one family bzness and a wedding and a holiday some place like NZ, Swiss et al. Tamil movies are far far better in content and music and everything. What do u say?

  Your examples about rape…murder etc – out of context, irrelevant.
  Lets take your lanjam example, ok ARR is highly western influenced and IR is less influenced (illamai etho, aasai nuru vakai, vikram, potu vaitha kadal thitam, songs in kailgyan, anjali – just a few examples), so lanjam now and then taralam but not every time?
  Either accept giving lanjam is totally bad or live with it.
  Don’t contradict yourself!
  Btw, I can accept udit narayan is sheer tamil kolai.

  Once again if you don’t learn to live with the flow of life, you can make noise but who will care? If you want to restore tamil identity then we have to ban even Valentines day, and many good things. Tamil identity need not be restored by depriving tamilians of the good things.

  If it is a crime then its your subjective idea, btw, has it been writtern that TFM should not have any exogamy? MSV composed very few numbers with western shades, IR outnumbered him, and now ARR has outnumbered IR in this aspect but if you look at the time it was 60’s , 75-91 for IR and 92-04 for ARR – what you fail to realise is the transition of time and tastes in all aspects of life. Please read the interview of Kamal in last weeks kumudam, he is amazed at how a farmer in vathalagundu was using his handsfree kit while cycling, no wonder ARR is accepted. This is globalization era mate.

  South indians have a wider choice that can’t be said about the north.
  Why do you allow people to accept Sangamam? Make an awarness campaign and ask people to buy IR’s works, I accept IR is more authentic but that’s not the criterion, whats easy on the ears matters more to the public.
  With fellow mates who share your ideas, spread the word that we should go for authentic music over attractive music, wait for the next ARR release just check the papers and websites if the sales had plummeted.

  Why are you not against YSR? I haven’t seen you posting against him and why is post emotional about ARR which makes you sound like a kolkai veeran.

  It hurts me more that you write tamil in english letters and criticize udith narayanan, mr Rajasaranam.
  
  Once Bollyowood was better than Kollywood, now Kollywood is better than Bollywood. We got good directors in Kollyowood who makes decent, good, high technic movies, the kollywood needs a controversy director who shows what we dont expect to see in theatres (i dont mean blue movies). Even diretors like K. Balachandar and Bharathiraja is trying to capture the young audience.

  This funny...you start a thread in newtfmpage and compare the two industries. Ofcourse the verdict would be that KW is better since there is no representation for BW. The reason being the hindi guys do not know that there is something called KW. My 2 cents is that BW churns out as many successful and creative songs. Infact they have a better fan base taking into account all of the north region and the NRI population. This is not to take away credit from music stalwarts like KVM, MSV.IR nad ARR. Remember that BW has the advantage of people coming their from all parts of india and hence they have more to offer.

Have you listsned to 40s - 80s songs of Hindi ..i Agree after 80 s ,tamil music was superior due to AR Rehman and Illayraaja ....of course MSV is great ,but then for a single MSV there were madhan mohan ,Rd Burman ,SD Burman ,Hemant Kumar ,Salili CHowdary ,Naushad a nd a lot ..!!!!!

  Sometime back i read a report on the "evaluation" of top 20 (market leadership wise) tools
  related to a particular technology.
  The report covered (and compared) in-dept all the tool features. The terms used
  were GLOBALLY accepted terminology for such features and the conclusions were derived from
  actual statistics.
  The report was 104 pages and the conclusion section was not 1 page but more than 30 pages long.
  There was no one best tool, the best depended on what YOU NEEDED in terms of features.
  
  Now compare this with all the things being put up on thread. People put up anything they like
  whether it has sufficient evidence or not.
  How many people here actually know HOW the indian film industry has evolved (the movie
  and the film music). Now this might not seem relevant but if you really see the chronoligical
  events that have happended since the 40s you would not say some of the nasty things that you
  say about some of the greats in this forum. I know there are some here who would not have
  seen even 10 hindi (or tamil) movies last year, but would make a comment on that industry. There are
  scores of people here who dont understand the other language but will nevertheless say that his/her
  artist is the MOST expressive. How can you make a comparsion when you have only one
  PERSPECTIVE. There are people who easily pass judgements and draw comparisons. Do such people
  ever care to delve into the work of the other side that they talk about. Is pulling down
  someone the only way to show the greatness of those you admire. The state is that
  possibly every artist's name is tarnished in this forum. Possibly if you compiled all BAD
  things that have been said in this forum about artists then it might look like there is
  no good artist in India. If you do some homework you would be embarrased with some of your
  present conclusions and statements. Right from 40/50 for each decade pick up about 10
  personalities that were at the top/revered/popular both in hindi and tamil (any language for
  that matter) in each film category ( Directors,Music directors,Singers and other technicians).
  Pick up some of there acclaimed works. Try to find out why people liked them the way they did.
  See if they brought something new. See if that set a trend.See if someone defined the way
  things would be done till date or till a long period.
  Find out what common people, contemporaries and other greats had/have to say about them.
  Such an exercise leads to not one but many conclusions.
  
  When your eyes are guided like a horse, discuss only about what you can see, DONT COMPARE.
  When you start seeing all angles you WONT COMPARE.

  Excellent post. I have been trying for long asking these people to stop comparing. But they wont listen. You will very soon get a 1 page reply for this posting comparing this comparison with something else, and all useless reasons.
