I see many people praise neethyashree but how much shes better compared to pavathaarini?Pavathaarini has the most innocent, fresh voice among the newsingers today, whereas neethyashree know only to shout. Listen to 'kadal meethu' or 'kanmaneekku vaaltu chollum', pavathaarini is excellent.
Please let me know your opinions

Dorai,
You have said that there is a 'thaaLam' mistake in the part after the first pallavi in Chaiya Chaiya. Just for a moment, assume that ARR is surfing the net. He, I would presume, would be appalled at your "outrageous" comment if it is not true. I have heard the song many times, if not for any other reason, then atleast for preparing to render this song on stage. I have also spoken to some other singers who have listened/rendered this song. Singers, whose talents I hold in very high esteem. None of us have discovered any 'thaaLam' problems with the song. So when I question your comment, you think that I am outrageous. What can I say? More power to you!!!

Hi guys,
This is Anand P S. I feel there is a thalam mistake in Jiya JALE, in that same movie. Exactly near the end of the first Interlude. I tihnk i ARR did that purposefully then its not acceptable but if not then thats a big mistake and again its not acceptable. I have never noticed any thalam mistake in Chaiya Chaiya.
Regarding the comparisn between Bhava and Nitya, I have seen nitya singing good only once and that too in jeans. Poove Poove, she sings so stupid. She gets a bad comparisn with Unni.
But Bhava is really good in some songs like, Idhu sangeetha thirunaalo, Alps malai, Alai meethu. There are some countless songs.

Anand PS: The Tala in Ninjinile(Jiya Jale) has a bit of a turn which if one is familiar with a Thani Avarthanam of a Kriti Rendition ot Ragam Thaanam Pallavi(RTP) would appreciate.
What happened is that Sivamani(he demonstrated this part to me personally) used the Batajon(South American Instrument which can sound like many of our percussion, but all in one wooden box). He plays normal Adhi(8 beats) and then cleverly takes it into Kandam(5 Beats, hence Thakka Thakita Thakka Thakita Thakka Thakita Tha), then the singer goes on with Kungumam en sootinen! In an RTP, the mirudangamist normally will do his stuff, first slowing for example an Adhi Thaalam to Rupakam(3), then to Kandam(5) and then to Mishram(7) and lastly Sankirnam(9) and then brings back the finale to Adhi, with more complex structures.
It is a laugh from Dorai to say that there is a Thala mistake in Chayya Chayya. hahahahaha. By the way, Dorai, I think Unni K is an excellent Carnatic singer as well as Playback singer, I believe he has a National Award for Ennavale to prove it! Shruthi miss in Ennavale? I think it's a Shruthi Bhedham, as opposed to a miss. Again a clever Carnatic technique used ingeniously! So, hahahahaha to the person who found it a Shruthi miss, but was unable to find the changeable, not technical variation of Shruthi is Janani Janani!
Subbudu: Where are you with those copied numbers?
LoLLs: I think we can all take lessons in Percussion from Sivamani. See him live and it will blow your mind. In the film Punnagai Mannan, there was an article in Ananda Vikatan that when Purushotaman's Drum Machine went bust, IR asked Sivamani to play a complex Drum Roll by hand! I have seen him do this a lot, it really is impressive. He is not a studied drummer who read notation e.t.c, but his hands do all the talking, when put in front of the Drums. By the way, did you see his mini-lesson on Indian MTV? It was filmed at my place in London and my other half was featured briefly too!!!!!

Geetha: very informative , but one thing....very soon people here will tell Sivamani is wrong.
I already told you once instead of posting here you can learn something or browse something else on the Web.
Sevidan kaathula sangu....
People have realize world things differently, but I do not think they will realize.
Anand;....learn or think twice b4 you post. There about 5-7 Cds by Nityashree b4 coming to film music.

Geetha,
Could you please highlight the so claimed "not technical variation of Shruthi is Janani Janani!".
I am serious to know your obervations.
So far to my knowledge I thought IR sang this song as good or even better than any playback singer with a "Deiveega Kural". I may be wrong, I need your expert comments on this song.
To remind you all, I like ARR as much as I like IR. But when someone makes biased criticisms on IR thats what I cannot accept them.

Geetha : I didn't get a chance to see Sivamani's MTV lesson (we don't get the channel here in US). Was it filmed at your home ? Great !!! I know that both ARR and Sivamani are great artists. I couldn't believe people talking about thaala mistake in ARR's song, who is the master of rhythm. Srikanth solluvadhu correct. There is no use in wasting your energy here in this thread.

Geetha,
But the fact about Jiya Jale... in Dilse as per PS Anand Observations I have also felt the same thing several times when I hear that part when the second charanam starts.
Whatever be you explanation of the technicalities invloved in ARR doing it that way, it does not sound synchronous to my ears atleast. The song looses its tempo a bit at this point.

Dorai's Biased criticisms, makkale see for yourself.
From: Dorai (@ gateway7.ey.com) on: Fri Aug 13 16:01:21 EDT 1999
The prevailing trend now in TFM is don't bother about shruthi, Tallam but focus on
catchy tunes and high pitch singing like Thaiya..Thaiya.. for e.g and miss the tallam where ever you feel like.
I don't like to bring ARR in this discussion. But he is one the main culprit is breaking the basic rules of the music, i.e, Tallam and Shruthi.
From: Dorai (@ gateway7.ey.com) on: Fri Aug 13 16:50:30 EDT 1999
What ever ARR brough to TFM is all copied directly from some western songs.
Good Music in Essence is simplicity and does not
have to be necessarily "more bridges in drum patterns". All of his drum patterns lacks creativity.
From:Dorairaj Pichaiyan (@ gateway7.ey.com) on: Mon Aug 16 16:12:16 EDT 1999
He has the habit of introducing a new singer in every movie or the other just to make the song sound new and different. To name a few, in his first 7 years he has introduced female singers like Nithya Shree, Harini, Mahalakshmi, Anupama, Anuradha Sriram,Subha (who has no sense of Neither the Tallam nor the language). On the male singers he has introduced Hariharan, Unnikrishnan, UnniMenon, Suhkwinder Singh, Udit Narayan, Shankar Mahadevan, Appache Indian Srinivas, Shahul Hameed. Did anyone of us were longing for to hear Tamil Songs sung (rather murdered) by a Hindi Singer. But for the exception of Hariharran and Unni MENON I don't see any of the above singers are of Cine Play Back quality. Why dump the TFM with so many bogus singers who are of Track Singing quality as real playback singers. IMHO, none of his female singers are of cine playback quality. Is there a need for so many new singers to make his songs look new and fresh ?. I guess that by itself speaks for lack of variety and depth of his compositions.
From: Dorairaj Pichaiyan (@ gateway7.ey.com) on: Mon Aug 16 11:56:02 EDT 1999
Honestly, even I don't like IR promoting Bhava. Just because it his daughter this is going on. Let's wait and watch what ARR does when he is old and has a son/daughter entering into TFM. He will
probably do the same thing.
From: Dorai (@ gateway7.ey.com) on: Tue Aug 17 13:16:32 EDT 1999
When you get a chance, please listen to Ennavalle, Ennavalle. Right after the prelude when
UnniK starts he stumbles on the shruthi and sings in a little faster pace.
Chaiyya, Chaiyya has definetly a problem in Tallam. Please listen to the complete song carefully before making any outrageous comments about others musical ears...
May be you have better musical knowledge than me but I can say for sure that I am not behind you in
musical sense. NOM
From: Dorai (@ gateway7.ey.com) on: Tue Aug 17 13:34:47 EDT 1999
I never said that new singers used/introduced by ARR. Infact, new singers make the TFM music fresh and nice. But the MD has to draw a balance in introducing new singers. But the prevailing trend in TFM is that by default there should be a new singer every other movie.
--- Dorai read back what you have posted!......it is you who started the ARR bashing right from the day one on this thread, also it is you who converted this to IR pugazchi malai (thankX srikanth).
Now finally you make a statement
"To remind you all, I like ARR as much as I like IR. But when someone makes biased criticisms on IR thats what I cannot accept them. "

RajaG,
All I can say to you folks is to give the Song Thaiya,,thaiya another listening and then make any comments about ARR surfing the net and consulting me before composing.. et al. The beat and the voice does not synchronize at this point and kinda sounds wierd. It may be a problem in mixing as well because thats the way ARR records songs. But certainly, there is a flaw there.
"Internet vandhaalum vandhadhu. Keyboard kidaichchavan ellaam music critic and subject matter expert aayittaan!" . Mr RajaG, you are not the only subject matter expertise and not all of the music lovers know to play a key board or even to sing a song properly. Whats important I feel for a matured person like you is not to degrade others based on their ignorance.
