Saw Karnan for the umpteenth time again.
Each time I see the movie, I discover something new. :-))
All the songs, especially those by PSuseela, fit to a tee to the story line.
Poai vaa magaley was startlingly electrifying.
However, PBS voice was too soft for Indran's grandeur. Refering to Enna koduppaan evai koduppaan.

BTW, Kannadasan was assisted by Panju Arunachalam in this movie. What does that mean?

MSV had two assistants (Not Joseph Krishna). What were their roles?

Ramki, Nov it is from "Arunagirinathar" alright.The fact is GR (I think he was the producer too) died during the making of the movie and TR Papa continued with MD-ing.The only song he 'composed' for the movie was 'Nilavo athan ...' which was copied from Hindi ,'Tasveer Teri dil mein'.

The movie name is 'Indra En selvam'.

I like another song 'Malarodu viLaiyadum thendrale varai' from Devabalam.

I came to know abt malarOdu viLaiyaadum
only last year. I got hooked on to it. It is an
excellent song. Janaki is particularly very good.
The movie is Deiva Balam, I think. This movie
came in 1959. So malarOdu viLaiyaadum must
be one of Janaki's first songs since she started
singing for tfm around 1958-59.

Nov, pOi Vaa MagaLE was sung by Soolamangalam Rajalakshmi and not PS. Ofcourse, the others were by PS in KarNan.

Karthi,

Kathirunthen kathirunthen is not in Kairasi. It is in Thangamalar. Also starred by Saro and Sambar. The music is by TG Lingappa. There is another song "Amaithee Amaithee Ulagamengum Orey Amaithee" in Thangamalar.

Karthi & Sathiya Keerthi - Thanks for your responses. I was confused (Thappikka, veru vazhi illai. :-))

About PBS softness, I think I feel that way because of the richness of Sigahi's and TMS' voices in the songs (which begins with Aayiram....)

Now, please tell me why it had to be soft? :-))

says that the get-up used for SVRamdas is so very
nicely done in the movie that you can't even find
out it is Ramdas.) andha vayOdhigar role-ukku
a soft voice (such as PBS's) thaan poruththam.
(That Karnan has been fore-warned about this by
his father, Mr. Sun is immaterial here since
Indhiran, who is acting doesn't know about that and
so, when he sings the song he still thinks that
he is cheating Karnan by his old man act.)

Although your explanatio is acceptable, Mr. holmes, PBS voice did not match Ramdass' ganeer kural.
On another note, yes the camouflage is really astounding for a movie of that period.
All in all a great movie.

About the song, P. Suseela begins by singing Velavan vel poley....
