The info has been shared severla times.
Chenthamarai was the first film for Bhim Singh, but got delayed and came out as the 13th film. This si the film where Viswanathan and Ramamurthy worked together. there is also a song by GK Vengkatesh-Kanave Kathal Vazhvey. The film was a flop.

The songs could be recorded in my country Malaysia. Janani Music House is where I used to record.

Nichaya Thamboolam and Thendral Veesum are Kovai Pachiraja's Films. The song "Paadinaar Kavinyar Paadinaar, Maan enraal pulli Illai mayilendraal Thogai Illai" was originally written for Nichaya Thamboolam for a college situation. But the song was used for Thenral Veesum.

A small correction to your posting.Nitchayathamboolam and Thenral Veesum were produced by B.S.Ranga,a predominantly Kannada film producer.It is not Pakshiraja as you said.
Theral veesum has some of the most melodious songs by Visvanathan-Ramamurthy.
'Azhagana malare arivana porule '-by P.B.Srinivas is one of the songs.I saw the movie twice just for the songs. In fact the secand time I was almost alone in the theater in Pondicherry where I was a medical student.
Your postings bring back lots of nostalgic memories.

There is a song in 'ethir veettu peN' which starts like
'vAdAtha pushpamE ..
vatRaatha selvamE ...
...
vanithA maNiyE ..'
It has a classical touch (not sure which one) with top-notch rendering by PBS. There is a hindi version of this song in 'padOsan' which was loosely handled with more comical sense by kishore (he has acted in the movie also) 'ek chathura nath , ek hOshiyaar'. (The trio kishore,sunil and mehamood are extremely hilarious!)

thanks for the info on raagam. I am more familiar with the hindi version of songs , though i love to hear the tamil versions. There is another song 'mere saamne vale kidhki se ek chaand ka tukda reha ta hai' which was a super hit!

Ek chatur nAr karke sringaar's equivalent was kangaLum kavi paaduthE. The more complete version of this song concludes with the tune of azhaikkaathe ninaikkaathe from Adi Narayana Rao's manaalane mangaiyin baakkiyam. The tamil version has several songs more than the hindi one - Sunil Dutt apparently was jealous that Kishore Kumar had done a better job and they edited out a number of scenes/songs. This is one of the few complete/unedited tamil film scores released by RPG/HMV.

A few weeks ago you had asked about the two versions
of the song, sendhoor murugan kOyililE from
the movie, Shanthi. Yesterday I saw the movie.
Yes, both versions are there in the movie. I
thought you may be interested in more details.

As you may already know, Vijayakumari is blind and SSR agrees
to marry her. Soon after the wedding he has to go
off to a distant place for a job before the two
have even met once. The first version of the song
(PS/PBS) comes at this point. Vijayakumari coveys
her thoughts to SSR in this song (her friend, Devika
writes down the song as a letter to SSR). In the
interlude before PBS starts the scene moves to
SSR. SSR receives the letter and sings in reply.

Then SSR is missing after an accident and is
declared dead, Shivaji acts as VK's husband to
avoid shock to her, an operation brings back her
eyes and their first night is arranged. VK, with
all happiness comes into the room singing the
second version of the song (PS solo) while Shivaji
is hiding behind the cot, trembling and not
knowing what to do! The tune for this second
version is somewhat different from the tune for
the first version. The lyrics are quite aptly
penned by Kannadhasan for both versions.

PBS in Sivaji films: padithaal mattum pothuma? has several TMS/PBS duets. Not sure whether PBS's voice was used for Sivaji or Balaji. There was an interview with PBS on Rediff/The Hindu where he identified several songs he had sung for MGR and Sivaji.

The movie, Kairaasi came in the early 60's. (I
think Gemini G and Saroja Devi played the lead
roles in that movie.) It had songs such as..
anbuLLa aththaan vaNakkam and kaNNum
kaNNum pEsiyadhum unnaal andrO. I always
thought the MD for this movie was Govardhanam.
But I saw in a CD cover that the MDs for the
movie were Viswanathan-Ramamurthy. Can someone
clarify this? (Manisekaran: please help.) What
are the other songs in that movie?

Govarthanam , the brother of Sudharsanam is the MD for Kairasi.
Other songs are:
1.Kathal Ennum Aatriniley Kanniyaraam Odathiley-TMS, PS and chorus
2.Paalilum Thenilum Suvai Ethu-P.Leela and P.Suseela

PBS has sung for Sivaji Ganesan under G. Ramanathans music in Naan Sollum Ragasiyam
The song is Kandene Unnai Kannale Kaathak Jothiye with PSuseela. Its a dream scene.
