ARR Rahman scoring music for Isaignani Ilaiyaraja

All times in EST +10:30 for IST.

The much talked about film " Popcorn " was originally to be scored by YSR. But due to YSR being in high demand,he has had to reject this movie and it has been passed to ARR. This movie is the life story of the great Maestro Isaignani Ilayaraja. ARR will be scoring the music,but I don't think he will be able to even attempt to score music like the Great Genius.

  Just 1 question to ARR fans? Is any of ARR songs can stand still along with YSR's Munpaniya Muthal Mazhaiya sung by the great S.P.B? YSR is genius in picking up the singer for the song.

  the mun paniya issue has been discussed in this site earlier.
  the song is very heavily inspired from rahman's "ae ajnabi"(dilse).
  the 'Kadala thaandi vandhadhu edhukku' part is inspired from 'koduthu vaitha poove poove' part in the interlude of "anbae anbae" (jeans).
  in short, there's nothing these new mds are doing which rahman (or for that matter IR) hasnt done.
  let them come with fresh ideas, fresh tunes.

  Fan take a look at Thulluvatho Ilamai by YSR and in Particular Ithu Kathala.How many other MD's have created a song such as this in TFM?Don't say YSR hasn't come with a fresh idea!
  I found KM to be a mediocre album as expected by ARR in recent times.Nothing to compare with AP or KK!Stop waving the ARR flag unnecessarily guys

  Ofcourse YES. Infact I enjoy listening to each and every Rahman album even now, with as much enthusiasm as I did earlier.
  Also, I do enjoy Thendarl vanthu ennai thodu, kanne kalaimane, ilaya nila too.

  Expectations are high on YSR and KR being IR's children and they are keeping up the quality too...but trendbreaking and trendsetting is something they are yet to achieve...if KR / YSR had scored before ARR did Roja..maybe they'd have ushered in the revolution ARR did...but I doubt it.

  After looking at theses discussions I am very surprised that YSR is so famous in TFM.I am not a tamilian but a BIGGGG fan of IR .
  IR , AR and KR (ofcourse SAR,DEVA etc) all we know .....but YSR we donno even a bit (only as IRs son)....Please tell me is he really that big MD TFM ?? why he is not popular outside like IR, AR AND KR !!

  Kiran YSR is one of the best MD's in TFM at the moment.He is the next best selling MD after ARR at the moment.But he is just now startingto do Telugu films and is slowly spreading out of Chennai.

  Thanxs raju !! coming back to the main topic.... I think its really very interesting project for AR to score for IRs life . Coz , after working and learning from IR in the past , he came out with his own style and succeeded . I am curious how the music would be presented ...OOOOOOO...coz, he should score a music that would convey IR in AR way .Oh MY GODDDD!! really very interesting project for AR!!

  ADHAVAN, I donn agree that IR is no more ...his compositions even now are mind blowing and too creative ,but are just outdated for todays crowd...But if the director create a weather in the movie that suits his tunes then it can be a hit ...The best examples I can say are SETHU , FRIENDS etc...

  Pls don't be a lame brain and say things just to attack your adversaries. Saying the things you said just goes on to show that only dumb people listen to ARR. Don't prove to us that ONLY morons listen to ARR or ARR kinda music. ARR doesn't deserve morons. He is the 'son' of IR. He's got the utmost respect for his 'mentor' as a person and more importantly for a genius he is till today.

  Please do not insult maetroIR by comparing him with a kid like AR.AR came into scene when the era when there is lot more exposure to the regional music through MTV's & V channels.How many people in the north know that the hits given by musicdirectors like KalyanjiAnandji,UshaKhanna,AnandMilind are copies of IR.AR just plays with sounds using new instuments which are catchy but are not longlasting.But thats not the case with IR.His compositions are evergreen.AR is just 8 years old in industry and how many songs did he compose and he repeats his tunes in different languages.IR has worked for 800 movies.So it would be a great injustice to IR if U compare him with AR

  ARR once said that his favourite song is 'andhi mazhai pozhigirathu' from raja parvai.
  
  IR once said that he likes ARR's songs and also mentioned that ARR was his 'varisu'.
  
  They have mutual respect for each other. IR is still doing 10 movies a year on a average. ARR has no competition at this time. May be after few years someone else can take his place. KR and YSR are quite good (they must be. after all they are IR's sons).. but they have to do something new to attract the entire country and not just TN. To become famous nationwide, they have to go to hindi field and give a couple of real hits. Unfortunately that's the reality whether we like it or not. See in India, everybody knows dilip kumar, amithab bachan and sharuk but not our sivaji. why? I have noticed in almost all the threads in TFM, people who think IR is great are mainly from south (particularly from TN and andhra). And ARR fans are from both south and north and its also true that some of those people also think kumar shanu and sonu nigam are better singers than SPB and KJY. Is it a matter of openion or just ignorance?
  
  I get the feeling that before ARR, we didn't have a common music that would appeal to all the people through the country. ARR came in at the right time and was blessed with great opportunities to prove in hindi movies. I think ARR's biggest achievement is that he produced music that was liked by both south and north indian crowd. Adhukkaga avarukku oru 'Oh' podalam!

  Kumar Sanu! I have never come across a 'singer'
  who lacks the basic qualities required to be even an ordinary singer, like Kumar Sanu! no shruti, no brighas, nothing tender and top of it, he is the most successful singer in HFM today! oh what a pity! can there be a better example to illustrate the abysmal standards of HFM ?
