No,Ram,I think it has a Sindhubhairavi feel esp. in the line Minnalukku minminiyay....and the beginning of the 2nd interlude.(don't u think this song sounds like naan oru Sindhu(which is in Sindhubhairavi)?)But technically,may be it shud be called Todi,with the exception of traces of Ni3 and Ga3(which makes it sound like Sindhubhairavi).Quite a cocktail!

And,today's "RudraveeNai" featured NeelAmbari.All the villagers fall asleep soon after the man starts playing the rAgA.

I listened to the first line again again it still gives me a strong MMG feel(may be yesterday nite dint sleep for watching football...thookka kalakkathula uLareno ennamo)....I definitely see SB in the song(but with MMG feel...intha rendui raagathukkum ethum sambandham uNdaa?)

Nope,I dunno y u think it sounds like MMG-in fact the 1st line clearly shows Ga2 and Ni2(it goes like-SaRi1SaSaSaRi1Ni2Ni2(twice)Ga2Ri1SaRiNi2Sa).It's O.K,ellAm football-naala daan. ;-)(pl.,NOM!)

Sindhuja,

When the song progresses in SM, i don't think u wud find Ni2. Ni2 might only surfaces when it shifts to Hemavathy.

However in my case (MMG + Keervani option), i did find a small deviation (i think that is what u r refering too). I think the slight deviation was there in the charanams. After shifting to keeravani, the line just touches Ga3 in avarohanam. Let me know where u found Ni2 corruption that led u to think it is SMKP?

If Ni2 comes with Da2,it'll be Hemavathi,but here,Ni2 figures with Da1,and thus I said it was SMKP.I agree,in the charaNams,wherever there's a Ni2 it is Hemavathi(as I have said earlier),coz it is with Da2.And KeeravANI?????R u sure?To my knowledge,Ma1 doesn't figure anywhere in the song,for it to be KeeravANI.Pl. tell me where u cud spot a Ma1.

Why r u surprised at me finding Ma1. Remember, afterall, you are looking at a different pair (SM + HEMAVATHY, both prathimadhayam usage) and self is looking at another (MMG + KEERAVANI both Ma1 usage).

[Remember Sindhuja, 'sundhari siriya rettai vaal sundhari' was named as hemavathy by you and keeravani by IR?]

I will let you know the swaras as i see it and will also indicate where (which line) i did find deviations. :-)

It does have shanmugapriya pattern..in the lines u have mentioned..but i guess it was beautification from the part of the singer...and as u said it is very minimal.

I guess there is another song that is in similar construction pattern to 'apdi paakradhunna venaam' from IVAN. I was hearing 'kuyilu kuppam kuyilu kuppam goburam aanadhenna' from 'en uyir thozhan'. It generates the same 'SHANKARABHARANAM Vs KALYANI' debate, but it is shankarabharanam in this case IMHO. [haiyya, perusungallem ROM mode'la irukaradhu evlo vasadhiyaa pochu..hi hi ;-)]

"Kuyilu kuppam kuile kuppam" the first line is a recyle of "thooliyile aada vantha vaanathu minvilakke" (or vice-versa) :-)

What is the ArOhaNam,avarOhaNam of the rAgA Shivashakthi?(It sounds a lot like varamu,(but has more of DS prayogams than DNS,I guess) and a little like Bhageshri too...)

Ram,varamu is very close to HondOLam(Da variant) and Bhageshri is very close to Sriranjani,so.....
But I think Shivashakthi resembles varamu more than hindOLam coz it has Da2.
