The Cassandra's can take a walk! Kamalhassan, the actor’s actor is all set to launch his new film under his own Raj Kamal Films. And the big news is that, he will be directing the film himself.

The film titled Chandiyar is the story of three Chenda (drum) artistes and their adventures. All the three are dark, evil and villainous characters. A Mumbai based actress will be the heroine. The shooting will start in April.

Kamalhassan, Satyaraj and Nasser play the three villainous characters. This combination is deadly and a welcome change from the usual mix. The music of Chandiyar will be by Ilayaraja. We can expect a lot of classical tunes for sure.

Hats off to Kamal for taking this bold and daring step, which we hope, will pay rich dividends at the box-office.

  Kamal is an opportunist but if he wants good music for his movies, the only person he goes to is IR. For Hey ram, he went to IR first but IR said no because he first believed that the storyline was againt gandhi. Then he went to LS, did the shooting.. didn't like it... went back to IR... convinced him and IR told him that he will do the music for the scenes that were already shot... and the rest you know...
  
  This --- was what I read in magazines at that time and this was what kamal himself said in an interview.
  
  Now, I can argue endlessly with you but can't afford waste my time on that. The fact is that you do not like IR bcos you cannot tell the difference between good music and bad music. For your ears, good is bad and bad is good.
  
  I see your name appearing in every thread bashing IR without any reason. I guess I should stop responding to your comments...bcos nee oru naai vaal, nimutha mudiyadhu...

  I was about to post the above info-you beat me to it.It was IR who turned down kamal beleiving that the film was against gandhian values.LS was the second choice.
  Every month a new chap comes to do what vaseegara does-then they realise they are typing rubbish and fade away.I wonder when this vaseegara is going to do that.

  I have a doubt regarding what is being said about the "nee partha parvai" song. That IR composed after the film was shot.
  
  I saw the film very recently again (4th time). if you notice the song has a piano part which is
  also hummed as "ra ra rara ra ra rara". If fact kamal humms like that. Now if IR composed the song after the film was shot then how could he have used/hummed the same tune in the scene in which he make love with RM. Also in those scenes both he and RM play the piano together. Same tune.
  
  kamal changes his getup some seven times in the film. The beards are original and hair that he grew were oriuginal and of diff. style in 7 diff. places.
  He has told in interviews that with every diff. hair style he finished shooting scenes concerning that.
  
  So, scenes where he makes love and plays piano with RM, Kamal comes with no beard and those scenes where supposed to have been finished.
  Now comming back to the song, in that case , the song should have been composed well before the shoot, contrary to the belief, because the tunes of the songs are used in the scene to humm and play piano.
  Orelse, kamal could have asked IR to rehash the original tunes of LS so as to keep going with continuity. In which case IR has contradicted his statement that he never listened to what LS has composed.

  Sorry guys, I made another stupid mistake. I didn't realize that,
  
  1) while Kamal might have taken the shot with the original humming as per LS's composition, he could have replaced it with IR's tune during the re-recording or dubbing. So he doesn't have to retake the shot with different hairstyles or ask IR to stick with LS's original.
  
  2) The fingering on the piano is merely cinematic rather than the actual notes used to play the melody.
  
  3) I need to go back and do some homework on basics of movie making.

  So instead of reasoning out you people started making mocery. Good. That is expected from you people. So, I find no reason why I should not conclude that IR bluffed and made all funda about this film's music, which was a complete failure. He along with kamal both drowned.

  Why cant these people throw useless MD's like IR. He was good once. His music sucks these days, majority hate it these days. ARR, YSR, Harris are better. If Kamal is oppurtunist nothing is wrong. When u want people utilise them. Thats all.
  
  It may sound selfish, but that how things work in the industry. Those who say IR is good, ok
  come out and see the world today. NO ONE WANTS IR. The market has changed I too enjoyed IR once. NOT NOW. TIME AND WORLD ARE CHNGING. ARR RULES.

  :-) Are Yaar, good that you have realized your mistakes...i would also like to add...
  
  a) That humming's lip synch could still be for LS's tune while dubbing would have been IR's tune..(as mentioned by u)
  
  b) yeah it was all natural beard...but aint it also possible that Kamal could have shaved & shot those scenes much later after he did the riot scenes in Calcutta? All it takes is a Indian blade after all ;-) [No..not gillette ready shaver..Kamal hates MNCs doesnt he :-)) ]
  
  Instead of concentrating on the piano part & hummings, talk about how you liked the rest of the song tuned by one & only IR...I am only concerned that you should not miss the bigger picture (I mean the overall song)...Just my thought...

  Hey!Ram's music was first composed by L Subramaniyam but he found it hard to do the BGM, that was the main reason the MD was changed. Kamal has always been a supporter of IR even after Rajini turned to ARR.

  Assuming IR contracdicted with his own statements, do you think LS will allow him to take the credit for his tune?
  
  I can believe anything you say about IR, but he is one guy who has a lot of self respect. Infact extreme manifestation of selfrespect(Ego).
  
  This quality only makes him to pickup tussle with all directors at the same time keeps him away from lifting others tune most of the time.

  I have few queries for U.
  
  1. Why do most of the participants in musical programs such as Saptah Swarangal (sun Tv), Raja Geetham (Raj Tv), Apoorva Ragangal (Star Vijay) choose IR Songs?
  2. Why movies such as Agni Natchatiram, Kadalora Kavithaigal, Mouna Ragam etc (where the BGM rules) keeps on tempting one to see again & again?
  3. How is that IR, right from 1978 to 2003, is able to keep on giving fresh & fresh tunes with no repititions at all?
  4. Can you hear ARR Songs continuously for 3 Hours?
  5. U can find MD who give rithem based music throughout India. But can u find a person, who can consistanly give beatiful melodies with a classic Indian touch?
  
  IR has got great potential. Pl. dont comment at a genious who has given more than 4000 tunes, who has used most of the Indian Ragas, handled most of the musical instruments, who is capable of producing fantastic instrumental albums... and so on.
  
  In fact, ARR has compared at his working with IR for 3 years, to that of a college training.
  
  Any great song of IR, if Remixed with Hindi Lyrics & Produced under DTS with Special Sound Effects, will become greatest hit in no time.
  But IR has shown least interest on it.

  Julie Ganapathy has nothing to go gaga about !! Another Ordinary album !! It just emphasises the theory (or fact ) that IR is no way near his 80s class , IMHO!!!
