Alka Yagnik or K S Chitra. Who sings better?

The first thing that came to my mind when I saw KSC & KK comparisn was that it was unfair. This I think anyone can judge. My vote goes to KSC. I will announce the result on 7th July 2002 based on the max no of votes

  Alka May be good singer, but it is not fair to compare her with the BEST singer One and only chitra
  
  Shw is versatile…….She sings Ooh La La, Padariyen (Sindhu Bairavi…) The two most contradicting songs and the best part is she got National Award

  Comparing Chitra with Alka is just like comparing a young little voice with a mature ,melodious and beautiful voice.Alka yagnik has really proved herself to be one of the best singers of the world ever.She has really got a voice which is full of feelings,and she is perfect in all forms of music,she is really uncomparable.   Alka Yagnik is simply the best.You cannot ever compare any singer with her,she is the World's best.She cannot be compared with as small singers as Chitra.She is simply uncomparable.She has got a real feeling in her voice.She is mindblowingly melodious.

  Hi 'Real admirer of alka': Looks like you've never listened to some of the most inimitable & timeless songs sung by Chitra. Or atleast you haven't found something so innate in her appropriately expressive rendition of songs written & composed by different artistes from different era. I'd appreciate if you could see something in both the singers which can't be replaced or interchanged. That's their integrity, which i believe stick with 'em. Have you listened to "Sawan Rut Aayi" from Piya Basanti? It's worth listening. :-)

  You admire anybody, but do not call somebody a "small singer" unless you know what his or her talent is or what are the credential he or she holds.You do not know what Chithra is and you do not even listen to music, I get a feeling.No small singer gets national award for five times for songs of diffrent languages.Do you know some of Chithra's credentials at least? This is not a full listing, but see something atleast below:
  
  -KSC won national award five times for best female play back singer.
  -She won best female singer award in 4 south Indian languages
  -To my knowledge, she has sung at least in 9 languages
  -she did win an M TV award
  - she has won Kerala Film Awards for 12 years in succession
  -she has sung more than 16000 songs.
  
  please open your eyes and realize that a singer with these sort of credentials is not a "small" singer.Hence, you admire anybody, but stay away from remarks by which you only will get ridiculed and not Chithra.

  No doubt chitraji is the best in India. Alka also good. Being a south indian singer, chitra came to north indian (Hindi, Oriya, Bengali etc) film world and did so many good numbers. That should be highly appreciated. Her classical back ground also very very enchanting. No north indian singer successed in south film world (even our Lataji also). Yesudas, SP Blasubramaniam & Hariharan also came to Bombay film world and done so many good songs with their classical talency.

  you hear the song "kehna hey kya" from bombay, even Lata could not perform like that in Hindi in her life. Chitra is chitra. NO COMPARISON FOR CHITRA. Ever lataji also dont have the background in classical/Karnatic which is the base of music.Also chitra sing songs in Malyalam, tamil, kannada, hindi,telugu, oriya,bengali. who ever performed like her. she could perform concerts for continuous 4 hours.

  Okay Guys, first things first. Alka, at the moment, is the leading female singer in Bollywood. Yeah, Chitra has a good voice, but she is no way as good. Classical or not. Awards don't necessarily mean a better singer, but Alka has a melodious and sweet voice. she is obviously better than Chitra as she is chosen almost always to sing and she has sung many classics.

  Alka is the ultimate in singing. Even Lata and Asha have praised her to the skies stating that they wished they could sing like Alkaji. I am shifting sides and moving over to Alkaji. Chitra bores me these days.

  To whoever made this posting, I really don't think that it is funny. I know that the standards in the people who come to this forum has dropped considerably, but it is irksome to use my forum name, even for a joke. It's a good thing I dropped in just to check up on the forum after a while. Please don't do it again. I know that frauds are abundant in the world, but not only is it bad enough to use my forum name, but to post something I would never say is showing me in bad light. I was and will always be a Chithra fan, regardless of her opportunities in Tamil music industry. Ente rasanaiyum "manmadharasa", "gilli" range-la illa:-( Talent is not determined by popularity or numbers, but skill. In that regard, most of the younger singers don't come near her.

  FYi chitra was singing totally out of tune in 'ninnukkori varnam'. Bad singing. Alkaji is far better
