Prasanna,
I post in English if I am trying to make a point. That was just my reply to Kupps. U wouldn't have understood what I said even if I had done it in English! :-)
Sorry for the inconvenience though!
Kupps,
Why don't you explain what we were talking about. I am sure you will not confuse people! ;-)

Note Man:
It indeed is an aberration! But I have no intention of listing those common place lifts...I'm sure very few people would have known lifts like YSR's from IR and NS's from Rajan Nagendra. The intention of the site is not to be a directory of lifts...its merely to unearth unknown/ rarely known lifts.
Tariq:
You could judge YSR based on your parameters and yes, even I think 'Nenjodu' is only an inspiration and not a direct lift. But the way he had lifted Hedningarna's 'Raven' was disheartening. Lets not bring all other composers who lift and say, 'they all do it, so YSR does it too...and its all right'. Thats illogical. Dont get emotional in your admiration for YSR. I love his music in Poovellaam Kettuppar and consider it as the best for a Vasanth movie next only to 'Keladi kanmani'. Give him a pat where he deserves it and admonish when he errs.

recently I.listened to Magalir Mattum title track...it was great..the only thing which bothered me was that a few interludes sounded similar to the interludes in oruvan oruvan mudalali from muthu. I checked out.the release dates Magalir Mattum is a movie from 1994 and Muthu was released in 1995..i am not making any accusations..please check it out urself and judge whether ARR was inspired from Magalir Mattum or not..will be glad to know others opinion.

Curious:
Yup saw that, heard the songs too. That was a period when there was quite an exchange (with or without permission) from Hindi to Tamil and vice versa. Guess this is one of them. Good find though.

Need help on this.
Remember seeing a Tamil song in Podhigai recently that had a tune exactly similar to a Nadeem Shravan song, 'Dil jigar nazar' from the Divya Bharati starrer 'Dil ka kya kasoor'. This Tamil song had Arjun and Simran in it and if I remember right, the music director's name was mentioned as Maragadhamani. The song's words went something like 'Vaan nila...' but I dont remember this very clearly.
I remember just 2 Arjun-Simran movies...Ezhumalai and Ottran. Could anybody help me identify the song?

I found the song...its 'Maan Vizhi' from K S Ravikumar's 'Kondattam', starring Arjun and Simran.
Now, to find the source of both the songs...I've heard this tune as an instrumental, many times. But dunno any other details!

If at all it helps, the original is an instrumental along the lines of 'Walk Don't Run' by The Ventures.

Hi karthik
Did you check the song "Tere Liye Jaanam" by S.P. Balasubramaniam, Chitra Singh in the film Suhaag composed by Anand milind. I think its a ditto copy of "roja janeman" from Roja.

Karthik,
Please add this song to the gen-next copycats Sanjeev-Darshan's list:
This time they have lifted it from our own Deva!
The Original song by Deva in Avvai Shanmukhi is:
"KADHALA KADHALA KADHALIL THAVIKKIREN"
And Sanjeev Darshan's copy in the copycat Satish Kaushik's movie starring Anil Kapoor-Aishwarya Rai, "Hamara Dil Apke Pas hai"
"GHAM HAIN KYON"
Both the song sources are easily available.

Not sure if someone has posted this before...
Listened to PKS songs and there's this Tamil soft rock number sung by YSR himself
'Where do we go..'. From the moment I listened to this song , I was impressed but also definitely knew that this has shades of more than one English number. One definite resemblance is the beats thats taken from Wham's 'Last Christmas'. Do you folks find any other resemblance ?

Happened to visit the Coincidences section and listened to Too Much Tequila - Champs. Not too sure if it sounds like ARR's Tarumpum...
But the moment I listened to this piece edited by you) the tune that came to my mind was 'Words' by Boyzone.
Sorry, dont have a link for the Boyzone song with me now. Popular song..sure you'd have heard it before.

Maverick...I had mentioned this (about 'words' originally by BeeGees) when I listed this coincidences first in the index page. Yes, it sure sounds similar...as if a slower ballad version of too much tequila!
