AR Rahman's Tamil Blockbuster "BOYS"

Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....

Here is what i found::

Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.

Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.

In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.

Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.

For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

  If Rahman was to Make it in Hollywood. It would have to be in films that have an "Indian touch" to it. For instance in movies like Monsoon Wedding, the Guru and various others....

  IT WAS a location of a different sort. One caught up with ace
  director Shanker as he was preparing to leave for Cochin to shoot a
  scene at the sport stadium there. As the MAC stadium in Chennai was
  not available for three days, Shanker was forced to pack for the
  Kerala city.
  
  Joining him gave one the opportunity to watch the director, known for
  perfection, capture the scene. Shanker said that the film was nearly
  complete except for a song and a few scenes. The film is about a
  group of young people. ``Well, it won't do any harm to give the bare
  outline of the first half of the movie," said Shanker. And here it
  is.
  
  Four young boys and a girl aspire to make it big but do not know how.
  They try their hand at music and show their talent in an innovative
  way. They choose the venue of a cricket match to draw the attention
  of the viewers who love their music.
  
  The director and his assistants were working round the clock to make
  the stadium look full. They had brought in some 500 junior artistes
  from different parts of the city and spread them over the stadium.
  
  The special effects man was also there to monitor the proceedings.
  Eleven foreigners, acting as the Australian players (yellow) and 11
  Indian players (blue), dressed in the same colours as worn by the
  teams in the World cup, were playing cricket.
  
  In one of the stands, the "Boys" were playing the music, and their
  song becomes a big hit among the spectators.
  
  The director, mike in hand was straining every nerve to get the right
  reaction from the audience going to every part of the stadium giving
  instructions.
  
  Dance Master Raju Sundaram was helping him. A. M. Ratnam, producer,
  was also present. The director and his crew shot two songs in
  Australia with some special equipment used for the first time in a
  Tamil film.
  
  Surya Creations' "Boys" has new faces including Siddharth, Harini,
  Vivek, Sai, Nakul, Bharath, Manikandan and A. V. Ramanan. Janaki
  Sabesh, Kali, Rani, Kamala Krishnaswamy, K.P.Mohan and Kamal Chopra
  are also in the cast.
  
  Music has been scored by A. R. Rahman, camera handled by Ravi
  K.Chandran, editing is done by V. T. Vijayan and art is taken care of
  by Sabu Siril.
  
  Costumes have been designed by Arjun Bhasin. Raju Sundaram has
  choreographed the dance, stunts have been composed by `Vikram' Dharma
  and special effects are by Mark Kolbe of Pentamedia and digital
  pictures Australia.
  
  Lyrics are by Valee, Kabilan, Pa. Vijay, Arivumathi and Pazhani
  Bharati. Sujatha has written the dialogue. Story, screenplay and
  direction are by Shanker.
