I was talking about the song 'ram bam bum' from MMKR and not the song from aboorva sagotharargal.

"Entha poovilum vaasam undu" of murattu kaalai was inspired by Antonio Ruiz-Pipo (not kiko as mentioned in the inspirations page). The name of the 2:02 minute guitar piece is "Cancione y danza" and it resembles the initial stanza music of the tamil song.

Dvorak's piece is too different from calling it even an inspiration. The pportion of resemblance in the so called orginal is in the major scale and IR's song inm inor - that should itself clarify.

bb,
But i thought that was just a temporary list. werent u going to put a permanent page with an apt into and songs sorted appropriately etc.? or is this the final page? this looks like just another list with blunt comments and missing links. It would be better to have another page where songs from this list are transferred once they are 'verified' that they are copies.(RajaG, rjay etc. help needed)
i think it would be nice to put the copies in a separate page with a better look to it with an intro etc. right now it looks like another TFM thread. it doesnt look like a dedicated site.

hi guys i happened to almost stumble upon u guys while searching for soemthing else. I've really enjoyed reading the archives. Im desperately in need of help..., am an ardent fan of IR & ARR (if its possible to be one), but understand that each one has been "inspired" and not everything that has been done by them is original. About 4-5 yrs back (a yr after pudhiya mugam got released)i was listening to some music (am not very conversant with the types - it was one of those gypsy king type of music - maybe it was the same band too but not sure) there was this piece that came which ARR did a direct lift... it is the guitar piece that comes inbetween the song "july madham vandhal" - incase this was already discussed or if anybody is aware can u help me..

just read in the archive - nanban says
. "July matham vanthal" - Th Guitar piece is
Direct lift from Khaleed song Thilabee... Thilaybe..( AIBUM DiDi)
the cassette i heard was definitely not Khaleed, but was arabic/spanish whatever variety-sorry guys, sangeetha gnanam konjam kammi ;-)
all i know is that i listened to this piece & was off ARR for a few days, till maturity set in & i decided not to get shocked by such things...

I am sure that the song "Maama nee maama" from the film "Ullaththai Alliththa" was not copied from Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. In fact, Nusrat had copied it from the Tamil song. So the entry in copied.newtfmpage.com could be wrong.

Srinath,
;)
In fact the above song by Nusrat, 'Kinna SoNa tenu Rab Ne BaNaya' has been copied in more than one version in Hindi itself.
Anu Malik, the copy king in Hindi and another lesser known composer duo have used it with lyrics that match the original Punjabi almost verbatim: 'Kitna Sona Tumhen Rab Ne Banaya'.
There was a re-mix version too, using Nusrat's own voice that topped the charts for a while!!!
Sirpi, the MD(it would be more appropriate if he wanted to call himself an MC... pun intended) has the unique and dubious distinction of having scored for a debut film with the maximum number of 'lifted' songs. He is still going strong, trying to catch up with his Gurus: the Devas and S. A. Rajkumars, whereas talented guys like Raveendran, V. S. Narasimhan, Mahesh and Vidyasagar are still waiting to make it big.
Every second song from S. A. Rajkumar is a rehash of his Pudu Vasantham tunes and Edho Oru Pattu tune (just like Annu Malik in Hindi)If not rehashing his own tunes, he is busy lifting numbers from other MDs and other languages. It's sad to note that it's the new and talented directors like Vikraman and Ezhil that are praising him to the skies and promoting him like hell. Strange.. strange.. strange, people fall for it!

Is the african style chorus piece in 'Mastana mastana' "inspired" ?

the initial guitar piece in the title song from 'kandukondain-kandukondain' is definitely lifted. i remember listening to that piece by someone called 'Suko' (or something like that) from an album which was part of a series called 'World Music' by Music Today

The Madonna song from which "Thaneerai kaathalikkum meengal" was copied from is called "I'll Remember" .
The entire rhythm of the Madonna song is used as one part of either the 1st or 2nd interlude. You might want to check which one.
Anyway, here is the Madonna link...
http://cheap-cds.com/surf/play/151446ab.mp3
And also, how is that the "Iruvar" jazz copy is not mentioned in the page...Just wondering, cos' I remember that it was that piano intro that sparked off this page!
Happy digging...

Does anybody know the history of the song "Surangani Surangani" i.e. MD and the inspiration for this song?
- From: vimal (@ 63.80.57.4)

Last week I was just browsing different channels when i came across "top 100 rock and roll songs" (or some such thing). They showed a very old song (black and white) by some african-american blues group. The beat in that songs stretched from start to finish. What surprised me was, the beats of 'Kappaleri Poyachu' from Indian is a 100% atta capi from this song!!
Likewise the beats of the song 'Thillana thillana' from muthe is copied from some famous song.. ( I heard it just once, but a jingle inspired from the original keeps playing in 99.9 and 98.7 phoenix fm stations.
Deva copies from known songs and ARR from unknown, yet gets caught sometime:
The beats of telephone manipol from Ace of base (all that she wants)which everyone knows,
and the beats of "Malargale.." from love birds and "Akkadannu" from Indian.. both lifted from "Loving the common people " by Paul Young.
The explanation that he gave for "telephone" is hilarious..its similar to Kamalhasan's comparison btn Avvai Shanmugi and Mrs.Doubtfire.
Why worry about all these..just listen to SPB"s singing in "Padum Vanambadi" "Nan Padum Padal" and keep yourself mesmerised for hours.....
