  'pudhayal' is a not-so-interesting movie starring
  Sivaji Ganesan and Padmini, plus ChandraBabu and
  TS Balaiah. MDs.. Viswanathan-Ramamurthy. Good
  songs. As far as Jumbo is concerned, I am a dumbo.
  I no nothing about that movie.

  I forgot to mention.. Yes, PS's voice has been
  very steady over the years. But you should note
  that she adapts her voice to various actresses
  very nicely. Compare for example her voice in
  endhan uLLam (Lalitha)
  anbil malarndha (Anjali Devi)
  aRiyA paruvamadA (Jamuna)
  You will appreciate this fact even more if you
  are familiar with those 3 actresses' voice.

  SPB Goldies Under MSV.. a bunch of songs sung
  by SPB under MSV in the 70s.

  The SPB collection was really good. Can't believe how young that voice sounds, especially songs like pottu vaitha mugamO. Reportedly, SPB's first song was malligai poo vAngi vandhEn that he sang for Ravichandran (?). But since the industry wanted him to come in with a bang, they held it back and released Ayiram nilavE vaa as the first song as it was sung for MGR. Is this true? I would love to hear that song if you have it.
  
  All the songs that SPB sang for the top heroes when he came into the industry were good (or is it that songs in those days were generally good?). Here is a list:

  Some interludes in the song 'Irandil onru nee ennidam sollu' is different from usual(Vividh bharathi version). I guess you had taken from the movie. Some songs are much clearer in your version than the vividhbarathi.

  I have heard many theories about SPB's first TFM
  song. It is well-known that he first approached MSV,
  who asked him to sing a song.. SPB sang nilavE
  ennidan nerungAdhE.. MSV told him to come back
  after improving his thamizh pronunciation. Some
  say iyaRkai ennum iLaya kanni was recorded
  first though adimaip peN (which had Ayiram
  nilavE vA was released earlier. Some say that
  the song, nEtru varai viNNil irundhALO in
  edhirigaL jAkkiradhai (MD: Shyam-Philips) was
  the first. Of course malligai poo vAngi vandhEn
  from pAl kudam is also a candidate for the first
  SPB song.. all these movies, I believe, were released
  around the same time.. 1968-69.

  In that song and pottu vaiththa mugamO
  don't you think Vasantha's voice for J is great?
  I have to look in my collection whether I have
  the other two songs from thikku theriyAdha kAttil.
  In that movie those two songs were sung for Sivakumar
  while kEttadhellAm was sung for Muthuraman.

  * SPB singing 'nilavE ennidam nerungaadhE' to MSV
  * MSV asking SPB to come after some time, after making his diction more perfect. (SPB went back to MSV after about a year, and when MSV approved his voice he discontinued his Nellooru engg. college study)
  * and about aayiram nilavE vaa/iyarkai enum iLaya kanni - one getting recorded first and the other getting released first.
