MSV is a terrible BGM scorer..

Today i saw Ninaithale Inikkum.. Songs were pleasing. But the BGM big ZERO from MSV. One romantic scene between Kamal and Jayapradha. What does our MSV do? He hums in the background with his terrible voice. His choice of music is awful.
IR would have had field day with these kind of scene.

  left out TKR??! :) .... u cud have just considered this ..... MSV-TKR were famous.....but TKR alone went nowhere! .... MSV was succesful to the core after they split....but TKR?? ... he went nowhere!

  you are contra in what you say.
  Even KJY has appreciated IR to the hilt -- so what, -- no body negated IRs achivement. nobody complined IR bgm was bad.

  Very very poor argument again.. All i said was his BGMs are bad. You call him "tfm father".. where did that come from? I don't ask you to dislike his BGM. What is contradictory about that? Still beyond comprehension? I think it is your style to add "you are contradcitory" at the end of a sentence. MSV.. BGMs are found wanting.

  Viswanathan-Ramamoorthy... obviously they must have learnt from each other. Ramamoorthy not going out seperately makes him Viswanathan is from Kerala. Ramamoorthy is from Trichy. Viswanathan came to chennai to become an actor. Ramamoorthy was trained in classical music and violin. Their combination gave wonderful music before MSV came on to his own. MSV had some special talent otherwise he could not have come out with such wonderful tunes. But his focus on BGM was less. That's not his fault alone. Nobody cared about it.

  mm....in that case.....amyb this cud be the reason....
  
  IR used to have a std. music piece for a fil repeating it for all similar situtaion (like for karthik in mouna ragam)....so when heard many times in a movie it wud definitelt have a great impact after u finish seeing the movie.....that tune wud stay always in ur mind.......but MSV i don think used such things(pls correct me if i am wrong).....in such a case i wud just say IR was smarter when it came to BGM rather than saying he is more talented

  I have read that many directors who saw the movie after IR has done the BGM just fell at his feet-his BGM had elevated the music so much.
  ARR,MSV are capable of doing good BGM-but,ARR reserves this for only MR,shankar and few other top ones.similarly,MSV's bgm for MGR and sivaji movies were good.but second line heroes were given second grade BGM.
  IR has been consistent-he gives BGM according to the movie-he does not give good bgm for a kamal movie and average bgm for ,say,kasthuri raaja movie-watch karisakkatu poove-what BGM!
  just because MSV and ARR are not consistent(ARR many a movies does not do his bgms at all!-atleast MSV did his own BGM however good or terrible they were) dont declare that bgm is not at all important as an ARR fan did once or that the fact that IR is good in BGM is a myth-it is a fact. .
  best eg of a completely unknown director getting a superb bgm from IR is -Bala of sedhu fame.In fact,he has mentioned that the movie was lying unnoticed when it was IR who encouraged the team that they had a sure hit on their hands.
  I suppose you have read vikatan review from IR's?815 th movie ivan's bgm and rahman's ?70 th movie baba review.That will tell you who is more consistent .

  C~P you still refuse to give the right compliment. What is that inhibits you? You got to be open minded when you listen to a music. When Mouna Raagam was released people were amazed at the title music. I know most of us still remember that piece of BGM not because it was used repeatedly. But because it was composed brilliantly and fitted exactly at the right moment. I think it needs more than smartness to produce such a gem of a music. First thing during MSV days, Background Music was something nobody cared for. Even in the early part of IR nobody noticed about that. Only after Salangai oli and Sindhu Bairavi most of the guys started talking about Re recording. Even 12 year old school guys were talking about re recording in a remote village. That credit goes solely to his soulful effort. IR's early movies have wonderful BGM something which i failed to notice because i was too young to notice that. When i see those movies now i can see the revolution launched by IR. Instead of starting threads with questions "Did BGM have awards?" and all those things why don't you plainly acknowledge his works? I still have good collection of MSV songs along with V-R combo songs. No musician is above reproach.

  Aval Oru Thodarkathai's last 10 minutes climax did not have ANY dialogues and just relied on BGM to tell the story. And this imbecile wants to comment on MSV's talents.

  I agree with you completely. I only say that in the name of glorifying IR do not insult others talent. Don't see BGM of other MDs with IR's prism.
  
  OISG, even though, I do not agree few parts in your write-up regarding IR's BGM, I agree to most of the parts where you talk about MSV. I would like to conclude like this IR had done great BGMs and he is India's best in BGM..right..okay, but the same IR has done so many crap BGMs in many many films. Don't take one remote film of other MD and compare wit some great film of IR. Its really difficult to find rotten eggs from basket of 800 numbers where good eggs are also equally distributed.

  Well i don't have to come in different avatars like you. There is no body going to execute me here. You are the one who talk with full of guilt. I do not care a damn what you talk about me. You are the one who uses different names for different purposes. I come in one name. My point remains the same. I am very very consistent with what i talk. But you .. talk highly of IR in one name .. talk badly about IR in the other name..
  So instead of screaming with guilt why don't you talk something sensible.

  C-P, Dont forget MSV (without TKR) could rise in a big way because of MGR (You may know the reasons for support). MGR being a great muisc lover could get the best out the the MD. For example, in one of the interview with Sankar-Ganesh, they composed(!) various tunes for MGR. After listening patiently, MGR advised them to a take a piece from Song1 , song 5 etc..etc. & when the played them together, it is a very memorable tune (some one can rememeber the song). Same is true for KD and vaali, MGR could single handedly lift vaali to the level of KD. Most of their success to be attributed to MGR.

  I fully agree with the points you brought in regarding MSV in your post on: Tue Aug 27 08:36:28 EDT 2002. But you are also making the same mistake as the persons who is saying that MSV is crap. Infact, IMO, you add fuel to the worthless fight by making the statements like :
  
  MSV fans' attraction towards ARR is natural,we see a similarity in style,humility,working respecting the other professionals like VM,Shankar,etc.The reemergence of decent and reasonable meanigful lyrics with the advent of ARR is another point.
  
  IR has told many a time that all he has done so far are "Urugai".I wonder why the HCIRF are going gai gai over the urugai.
  
  
  SUCH KIND OF STATEMENTS ARE EXPECTED BY TWO SET OF PEOPLE TO START THEIR FIGHT. We could have very well given points like what you have told in your earlier paras in that post and stopped there. If we feel that it will be worthless to give even those points as it will ALSO be invariably taken for fighting we could have very well NOT responded to such threads. I hope you take these point in right perspective.

  What AreYaar is saying is similar to Don't see every other MD's melodies, (e-g)the melodies(or is it just A Melody) of SAR in MSV's melodies' prism. MSV is best in melodies.
  
  Both statements are not contradictory. They are infact complimentary.
  
  But yes, I can understand your disagreement (regd. IR and BGM), it is personal. I am not and don't want to contest that opinion.
