AR Rahman's Tamil Blockbuster "BOYS"

Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....

Also; use this thread to discuss this album..

Here is what i found::

Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.

Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.

In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.

Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.

For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

  WHERE WERE YOU GUYS...when then movie "DOUBLES" came out...
  so clear that it is all about Double Meaning Jokes...and some many embarassing scenes..of Prabhu Deva looking at women's private part?...

  Mr.Shivakumar,
  Directors have their own free will to make whatever movies they want. You have yoru own freewill to watch whatever you want. The director was responsible he at least showed you what the movie was going to be like thru the trailors.The prostitute scene was tehre along with the streaking scene.
  
  And this movie isn't that bad at all if you have watched any other countries films including your own you would think the same.Have you seen Jism, or any other hindi movies? or even any english movies?The "vulgarity" as you call it in Boys is nothing compared to these.

  u think Sitard run nude in the road only hollywood actors can do that. If people have seen " AMERICAN PIE " i think they can watch this movie.I can say what Boys did or think in the movie, my friends and me did. when i see the movie im recognise our.   Those who criticize boys are hypocrites..what else can i say?
  
  On one end, nobody objects to "american pie" which is screened in chennai..many people go to the movie,enjoy it and say it is a cool movie..they rent "there's something about mary" and appreciate it as a neat film..
  
  but when it comes to tamil films, sorry...no vulgar jokes ,no exposure ...no nothing...
  
  enna saaaaar...if u r against double meaning dialogues and exposure ,then u should ban the english films too..
  
  dont u think if a guy is not allowed to see boys, he would go and see an english film?
  
  morever,reality pricks! suddenly people become conscious and say no..no..they shouldnt show that..they shouldnt do that...illathatheya kaatranga...
  
  if u dont like these things,then dont see it..simple..summa dialogue vidatheengappa....
  
  i dont say that anything can be inserted into the film to make it commercialy viable .but i dont see anything wrong if the subject demands it..

  heres the reason why some ppl coment odd abt boyz-
  TI and KK came from the same factory but it was branded clean as a A movie-see the certificate -they have displayed a clear A on all advertisements.
  for those who critisize the scene with the boys bomps xposed-in the movie u could see that the boy is canned down for his behavior and not any sh*t which ur sulken mind think off...
  
  of course now many teens do not watch a movie with parents,even at home..but some movies from vikraman,KS ravikumar ,etc bring the packed homes to the theatre-these movies are trusted their way of presentation and others..
  from the factory of a good director who gave excellent messages and hitz to b office,with all the movies watchable with the family,say a love story with new faces-kadalan and also a family entertainer jeans.he is not a director belonging to the same lotch-he has responsibilities of satisfying the ppl of all cases..
  
  if this movie is certainly for mom-f**king teenagers,why should be it a given a UA certificate?
  i am a teenager here-just at my coll 2nd yr.
  ppl who dont realise the folly in this movie-u can go and get porn movies and watch it with ur family,shake the cot with ur sister or mother,shake ur car,ask a teen boy to smoke and drink and also call a prostitute by her no....
  shankar can try making a A movie with shakeela and others if he want to make another youth movie ....at least then ppl wont move to the theatres where car-shakers are gathered at....

  better do it with AAN PEN ARPUTAM becoz when comapre with that movie does boyz will have some less vulgarity!!!

  let me add my views on boyz....
  
  1. the movie is a stunning visual treat.. although i must add.. too much of anything is bad... ale ale proved rite ( the camera work was bugging) !! and so was boom boom....there was no need for graphics...
  
  2. the music was good.. too bad it was loud at cetain parts...
  
  3. talking about vulgarity......
  
  shankar and ratnam have every right to make a movie..sicne they invest their own money...
  the point is why did they get the movie cleared in hyderabad?
  a)
  if the arguement of "boys is for teenagers only" they as well get a A certicate and screen it here...this way they would have atleast warned the public and avoided embarassment for the families.. who had come to see the movie...

  some people talk about being hypocrites....i dont know what they are talking about... "these things do happen in real life" - is this the only valid reason they can come up with....???
  no one can say it better than this one...

  . this movie did give me a cultural shock... I hope shankar pays attention to the respect he commands and the expectations from the public.. there are so many in this field who can make a movie like this... we dont need a shankar to make this movie

  Truth - nethiadiii on point "b". And did u read Sujatha's comments about the "vasanaam" in Aanandha Vikatan. When they asked him, "why did u write such vulgarly", I could'nt believe he answered - "Go and see in the theatre, everyone likes it". Hello Sujatha sir, everyone will like it if u show a "blue film", adhukagaa, do u want to show that ? Totally idiotic.

  If some one makes a movie about my college life, or any college life for that matter. Unless the usual language of the college, topics they talk, things that mattered to them, activities they dont come in the movie. It is waste of time. Activities does not mean just vulgar things, it could mean also students studying, playing and more healthy things also.
  
  Just showing them like some with viaburi+damu+charlie combo with bleeped dialouges is waste. Who ever dont want to see can stay away.
  
  Yes my parents dont make a movie out of a bedroom. But if a movie is made about relationship of a couple. A true sincere movie, can have bedroom scenes. If some one sees this as vulgar its up to them. If my parents are actors and they are involved in such a sincere movie, I wont feel bad at all.
  
  Its all about being truthful and sincere. If a scene comes in a movie just to woo audience, be is some bedroom scene or some bakti scene. It is valgar.
  
  I dont know about boys. How sincere they were. But, I wont object a movie is its made true to a lifestyle or culture. What ever it may be.

  I am Ark, I am from San Francisco. I loved the movie. I would like to make a point old folk should change their attitude and accept the present true culture,there is no use running away from it.All young kids of age 15 -21 pass thro phase, and just because Shankar show us in the movie you can brand in as a foolish Director, He is just show you the truth accept it.
