Tali-Party?!! :)) .... LOL! ... ridiculous....mayb Thalapathi wud be dubbed in eng as Tali-Party....watv!
yaaro,
>>why would you try to prop up the classical Vande mataram-they thought Maa thuje salaam was going to be show cased to the world-whereas it has backfired when the original vandematram is sitting there proudly in slot number 2!so the composer for original VM is the composer for the second popular song on the planet.I wonder who he is?<<
if u are right, his name is Various artists!
btw.....havent ppl already sed that VM isnt attributed to ARR alone?? ..... probably the BBC guys put up the song in the form in which it first appeared in a movie(??)
neways....im curious to.....who is the composer for the original version??

Celebrate people. Stop the fight!
Both ARR and IR are in the top ten, rigging or not. That the Irish song is No. 1 is also suspicious. In the world of blind, the one-eyed man is king. So, at the end of the day, does it matter?
Why must this stupid fight be carried from this forum to international level?
Let there be grace in victory.

There's no fight here. Yaaro & I were discussing, but some PIMs can't help making personal attacks & dumb posts tho they cant come up wit a single rebuttal, they whine & groan in their misery (post-traumatic depression can be dangerous, now tat all the hours they spent rigging has gone to waste)
Yaaro, i know i dont represent the entire ARR popn, but my guess is tat if any ARR fans were so theeviram to actually rig the polls, they wud also have had been following YG posts, esp the ones on the BBC polls & wud have seen it being mentioned more than once tat VM was not accredited to ARR.
"they thought Maa thuje salaam was going to be show cased to the world-"
Yaaro, theevira ARR fans wud also know tat the title of the song maa tujhe salaam is maa tujhe salaam.
But I have one question to ask you.
"So,finally it was the genuine and original vande mataram which triumphed-not the synthetic version.Good for the indian spirit!"
Can u pls explain wat exactly u mean by tis statement. I assume u have heard ARR's Vande Mataram Revival (the one wit lyrics by Bankim Chandra Chatterji) before u made tis statement. Can u pls tell me wat u found so synthetic abt it?

wn,
when I said synthetic I meant the maa tujhe salaam-where he sings ''vandtheee mattharram''.some magzine had even made fun of his pronounciation.
Tell me,he also did a jana gana-will you still attribute it to ARR since it is on an album by ARR?

Wellsaid Yaaro..
That "ththaaaai mannnneee vanakkam" ...is it a tamil song? Tamil kolai. sounds like rap or pop.
not to the original spirit..
- From: geeth (@ 213.121.248.170)
on: Mon Dec 23 08:05:21 EST 2002
Sorry kavin, i don't find any kolai in which
'Thaai maNe vaNakkam' was sung. I feel the way it was sung it gave a different emotional appeal.
Kolai happens when 'N' is pronounced as 'n' and 'L' is pronounced as 'l'.
It may sound like rap or pop depending on the listners' moods. Thamizh songs can be sung that way too. Experimentation has always been there in tfm. But kolai - i don't agree.

Sorry Geeth!
Experiments are allowed. agreed! But it should be in healthy way. You have told
"Thamizh songs can be sung that way too.".
So you agree that it is not usual and proper thamizh pronounciation. U like it becoz it creates different emotional appeal. While listening to "Sare jahan se acha" different emotion is created in me. The expression and feeling should be in voice, tune, beats and lyrics. But not in the pronounciation. If such emotion is created by not pronouncing thamizh properly it means that the tune or beats fails to create the emotion.

Great that IR's song is No. 4 in the top 10 list. I'm overwhelmed. Another thing that keeps me happy is that, inspite of rigging and split in rigging, Vande Matram bettered DDP. India must always win.
I can also see a lot of disappoinment in some of the ARR Fans. Their postings reveal their deep frusturation.
Why does someone try to prove that it is not the orignal Vande Matram?
Why does someone feel happy in telling somebody's song as ARR's?

Noted your points Kavin. But still i do not find any kolai or pronounciation problem in that song. This song sounds different to me. thats it. And i like it too.
In total (like the way you said tune, beats etc and also singing) the song gave a good emotional appeal to me. Frankly i never got that emotional attachment with the original Vande Mataram probably because of language problem.

Well said Geeth.
Like you, many youths have had their patriotism reawakened by ARR.
If this had been done by anyone other than ARR, then the violent objections here would not have risen.
Honestly, I don't know when the maxim Live and Let Live will ever apply to some people. :(

DIGRESSION....
Alvn - anyway, the reason why i commented was - not cause of ARR's VM or whatever.... the happening's in INDIA - first Mumbai, then Coimbatore, and now recently in Gujarat..... i guess, people in India have forgot the meaning of "tolerence"..... and look at who is winning in politics - the Jaya's and the Modi's... certainly this is never going to be good sign for INDIA in the long run....
end DIGRESSION

Is there anyone starting a separate thread like Dr.Vijay started for Rakkamma ? We need to attack on collective basis to make a mark in BBC/the world. So first lets make our common choice.
Among the list given by peeps, i would prefer 'Mudhal Mariyaadhai'.

on: Mon Dec 23 23:51:55 EST 2002
So Yaaro,
when u started this thread screaming "ARR fans, listen to the clipping for VM-is this what u all voted for?are u in for a surprise!!"...you were actually talking about urself. You thought tat "Vande Mataram" was "Maa Tujhe Salaam" and was "surprised" to find tat the song u did not vote for, was not MTS, but VM (duh!). And when I tried explaining tat most ARR fans wud have had the brains to know MTS is not VM, u found it hard to believe, bcos u hadnt known tis basic fact urself.
"Tell me,he also did a jana gana-will you still attribute it to ARR since it is on an album by ARR?"
This goes to show how much u know abt ARR's VM Revival. For ur info, the credits for VM Revival:
"Revival (A R Rahman)
Arranged by
A R Rahman (traditional composition)
Lyrics
Bankim Chandra Chatterjee
Acoustic Guitar
Dominic Miller
Backing Vocals
Anuradha, Sujata, Kalyani Menon, Seema
Percussion
Sivamani
Santoor
Srinivasalu
Sax
Chris "Snake" Davis
Oboe
Sara Prosser"
So tho he is not the composer for Vande Mataram Revival, when u make an insult like "So,finally it was the genuine and original vande mataram which triumphed-not the synthetic version", ur making an insult on ARR's version (known as Vande Mataram Revival, NOT "Maa Tujhe Salaam"!)...but why am I not surprised tat u think "Maa Tujhe Salaam" (wit lyrics by Mehboob, not Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, & completely diff tunes from VM, composed by ARR) is another version of Vande Mataram? Tat only goes to show the impact Maa Tujhe Salaam has created on the common man's mind.
One more thing:
Now u say:
"when I said synthetic I meant the maa tujhe salaam-where he sings ''vandtheee mattharram''"
A while ago, u said:
"they should have voted for Maa tujhe salaam, which I must admit,is a fantastic song-I will be deemed musically deaf if I did say anything to the contrary."
Can u make up ur mind Yaaro? Which is it?
And u still havnt explained wat u found so "synthetic" about ARR's Maa Tujhe Salaam. Dont tell me wat some magazine said abt his pronounciation. Tell me why YOU think it is synthetic.
I'm sorry, but in ur eagerness to decry ARR and in ur anger in seeing RKT lose it's no1 spot, I think u jus blabbered watever tat came to ur mind, & now, the more u try to justify urself, the worse it gets. But good luck. Keep trying, this is fun.
