Greatest Contribution of Ilayaraja to TFM

What is Contribution? It means doing some thing that has never been done before. Or playing a significant role. In Thamizh, the word that comes to mind is "puratchi."
I believe every aspect of our great Isai Gnani has been explored in this forum except for a particular genre of songs. In this particular kind of songs, Ilayaraja is the mudisoodaa mannan. No one from MSV, KVM, ARR can touch Ilayaraja in this matter.

Okay, enough of this, let me get to the matter at hand. I urge all Fans, Fanatics, Dissenters and everyone else to contribute to this thread. Let me do the Pillayar Suzhi:

1. Nethu rathiri yemma (ursurpassed description of what happened)
2. Nilaa kaayuthu (who would have thought that munungals can be put to tune)
3. Antha nilavathaan naa kaiyule pudichen (by the master himself)
4. Eduthu vach paalum virichu vacha paayum (if music can be sexy, this is it)
5. Maaman oru naal malliyapoo koduthaan (innocent but deadly)
6. Orampo orampo rukkumani vandi varuthu (no doublespeak here - every thing is direct)
7. Raathiriyil poothirukkum (what a romatic song!)
8. Vaada vaattuthu (yet another masterpiece by the master himself)

  But what I do is not exactly what anyone shud be doing. It is definitely easier to preach than practice I must admit. :-) But that's when someone angelic like me shud come along and remind one of the good ole principles one shud adhere to in theory. ;-)
  
  aavendhan, it was interesting to read ur subgroups theory, but how about the superior people who participate in the Handphone melodies threads (r they considered part of the df?), the SPB fans (haven't they done enuf to deserve their own subgroup??), all CAPS personalities (I can never tell where they r coming from), very young posters (a.k.a children)? And how about posters who take various avatars depending on their mood? Can someone belong to more than one category, or none of the categories?
  Please elaborate further. :-)

  aagamoththam there are multiple pages of personal attacks, personal adulations, clarifications, confusions, justifications, opinions.........all because Gowri's incorrect usage of superlatives, subject, object, predicate etc in the title. And her pride prevents her from accepting her mistake despite numerous posters pointing it out to her, including but not limited to Saran, peacenik, twilight_zone. And she keeps referring people to go to "Old responses" - anga yEdhO ulaga mahaa uNmai irukkira maadhiri. oru maNNaangattiyum illa Old responses la. Only some more pEththals from Gowri trying in vain to justify her title for the thread and her "opinions" presented as "facts".

  nice to see a thread without much of ARR Vs IR..
  Coming to the point..Even a kid can understand the motive of Gowri starting this thread..:-))..Gowri can u say from your bottom of heart that the fact is u wanted to make the IR fans angry and invoke their emotions?(and u succeeded in that to some extent)..
  U shud be knowing when starting this thread that IR fans will not contribute to this thread as it deals with the negative side of IR..for any IR fan its hard to accept that his/her idol's greatest contribution is for erotic songs..
  I personally feel that IR cannot be completely held responsible for such songs..may some 20 percent???:-)
  And as (^!^) said u never gave a proper answer for the title of this thread..i have read the whole thread and for i couldnt find any convincing reply for the title..

  Why can't they be thavaru and yet be allowed?
  Not that I think it is thavaru. I think that there's nothing really 'wrong' with it. Not everything tat's unappealing to us or comes across as crude needs to be wrong. And banning IMO, shud occur only when more sensitive issues r involved eg. sexist or relgious/racially offensive lyrics etc.
  
  I think it is pretty much up to the MD how bad the song is going to be. I mean, u can create a romantic and even a sexual song without the addition of the M&Ms and with the use of disgusting lyrics. It all depends on where u cross the line between suggestive and outright intrusive. However one needs to consider trends as well. If vulgarity was the trend in a certain era, it's natural for songs during tat period to be as such as well.
  
  I wud also like to hear Gowri's opinions on these as well. And I wud also like to hear what she wud term as suggestive, yet decent romantic songs and wat she wud call disgusting or outright vulgar songs (by any MDs). It wud be interesting to see everyone's perception on where the line gets crossed.
