  Vicky, kalakkitteenga... I get an idea.. shall all PS' fans assemble in chennai sometime and go & meet her with prior appointment (May be Raj can help in that)... this would be costly and crazy to some... but whoever is ready given 2 weeks time, can we make it.

  Tend to agree with Vicky. Subbu, no problem. PS fans at Chennai can meet. In fact I,ve been toying with an idea of having a PS Netizens Club, which would be the first of its kind. This club should create a web page.

  Raj: Really an exciting idea. That could be a repository of Smt. Susheela's songs since 1952 in all languages. Though its a painstaking process, nevertheless, could be accomplished. We have SK, Kalai, Subbu and countless others who can share with us the information that is available in public domain.

  Hi all,
  
  piece of info.. u must be aware that PS was giving "Satya sai bhajan" prog on every sunday (7.30am to 8am) in Jaya TV. It recently stopped. It was a good prog.
  
  Today I had been to Whitefield (Satya sai ashram BRINDAVAN) to have darshan of Bhagawan Satya Sai. There I met with Smt. Ambili Rajasekaran, who always accompany PS in the Satya sai bhajan prog. She said the prog again started in Jain TV on every Friday (6.30am - 7am). When time permits, pl watch the prog. Good devotional music by PS, Ambili, PS's daughter-in-law and other singers.

  Since this topic encourages admirers of PS to contribute, I am forced to write another piece, which, I think bolsters my claim of PS being a great mezzo all these years. There are two songs enlisted below:
  
  1. Udhaya Kalamae/Panjami/PS/IR
  2. Anbil Malarntha/Kanavanae Kan Kanda Theivam/PS/Addapalli Rama Rao & Hemanth Kumar.
  
  I found first song in www.muthamil.com, this evening and the second one was posted by SK, pursuant to my request. He always seems quick in his turnaround time. Well...I appreciate him for that. He has always satisfied my requests not once..but..many times.
  
  One should realize that both these songs are from different time periods, one early fifties and the other early eighties. PS emerged as a mezzo from KKK (Kanavanae Kan Kanda Thevam, a Gemini Ganesan/Anjali Devi/MN Nambiar as the bad guy and was produced by Narayanan and Co, was also involved in Pakshiraaja Studios to team with SM Sriramulu Naidu which also produced the movie "Malai Kallan" starring MGR/PBanumathi and TS Dorairaj. One could also see MGR's elder brother MG Chakrapani in the investigative role).
  
  If you can get hold of a DVD or Video of KKK (1954/55), please enjoy it, especially who cherishes the oldies like Pathala Bhairavi and Marma Yogi.
  
  Reflecting back on my piece again, the song by PS is so fresh, haunting, captivating, no wonder it was an instant hit. She had already sung in a another AVM movie for R Sudarsanam (telugu dubbed) "Sangham" in tamil "Penn" with PS Bhagwathi before KKK, if my conclusions are right.
  
  A Rama Rao/ Hemanth Kumar gave us some of the mesmerising tunes after GR's Mandiri Kumari in 1950. To fans who had been listening to Jikki/TV Ratnam/MLV/PLeela/AP Komala/Rani, PS's voice breathed fresh air into the playback system. Not that these singers are anyway inferior to PS, but, one could admit after listening to PS..it made everyone spellbound. The voice was very inviting and soul stirring, especially the song I am referring to. The voice so raw, beautiful, young and soothing in its texture .....Can someone replicate that voice today..very doubtful. Listen to it and you feel PS's voice just dominating the time frame....Why did AR/HK choose a new comer/unknown voice for the song....its still a mystery when equally gifted artists such as mentioned above. May be they had a clue what was coming ahead or one should go into their brains as to what they thought of the young singer in those days. Still..could'nt find an answer. Rest is history.....
  
  "Udaya Kalamae" (after 30 years) came in the eighties as she was concentrating more on Telugu (there was a hit movie by NTR/Sujata..forgive me..I dont remember the name), but still, one could feel the same raw, soothing and emotional rendering by her for IR. Did IR choose her becoz, SJ or others were not available, I guess not.....and I doubt it. Think he might have felt that no other than PS could do justice to her legendary status. The complex percussion/ the opening prelude and interludes coupled with her unique voice was more than enough to keep the song sailing....all through.
  
  Both the songs were from different time periods as I mentioned the former (Panjami) enriched by technological advances in acoustics but, still...PS was raw/real and her silky voice intact.

  One query. The film was directed by Charuhasan; Suhasini was the heroine. I remember there was a song by PS in that movie.
  
  Can anyone tell me the movie name, song and the hero of the movie?
  
  Similarly, there was a song by PS in the movie "Thodi raagam" acted by Madurai Sesha Gopalan and Nalini. Nalini was taking poison, sings this song.. It was terrific one. Starting line of the song please...!

  Raj... am not referring to Oru Indhiya kanavu (am not sure whether it was directed by Charu hasan... was it not by Komal swaminathan?).
  
  In Indhiy Kanavu also, PS sung a song for that tribal girl. These days am forgetting the lyrics and so I forgot the starting line also.
