Have made the appropriate change in my site about Yanni's Quiet Man. Boy, are the tables turned now!!

KarthikS, the resemblance to Yanni's piece is quite weak. In fact even the earlier accusation that it was inspired by Vangelis's "Chariots of Fire" was limited to just the rhythm part which seems to be a common one as far as New age music is concerned. But your list on R.D.Burman should be an eye opener to many. Does he lead all MDs now or what?

Musio:
Why are you lying?
KarthikS's site only mentions about the 11 songs.. The rest of all are you imaginations.
Here is the list.
01
Hello Mr. ethirkatchi [Film: Iruvar]
The opening piano part definitely inspired. Source: Dave Grusin's Memphis Stomp, from the OST of The Firm, released in 1993.
Listen to Hello Mr. Ethirkatchi | Memphis Stomp
[i2fs] comments: Genuine copy wrt the piano intro sequence. But the actual tune of the song remains original.
02
Kuluvalile [Film: Muthu]
The background rythm and beats inspired from the song 'rescue me' by Fontella Bass. The song was part of the OST of the film 'Sister Act', released in 1965.
Listen to Kuluvalile | Rescue me
[i2fs] comments: The rythm has been used. However, the tune of the song remains original.
03
Akkadannu naanga [Film: Indian]
Again, the background beats are inspired. Source: Paul Young's 'Love of common people', from the album 'No Parlez', released in 1983.
Listen to Akkadannu | Love of common people
[i2fs] comments: Oh sure, the beats are copied. Tune original!
04
Anbae anbae [Film: Jeans]
The opening sequence seems inspired from Peter Gabriel's 'Of these, hope...' from the album 'Passion: Music from the last temptation of Christ'.
Listen to anbae anbae | Of these, hope
[i2fs] comments: Amazing discovery! Is A R Rahman a fan of Peter Gabriel? Tune is original!
05
Shakalaka Baby [Film: Mudhalvan]
The rhythm loop with an underground feel is also found in the track 'Flight IC 408' by State of Bengal ans the track 'Aint talkin bout dub' by Apollo 440.
Listen to Shakalaka Baby | Flight IC 408 | Aint talkin bout dub
[i2fs] comments: Interesting. Possibly a commercially available loop, done with some improvisations by Rahman. The loop appears almost throughout the Apollo 440 track and at places in Flight IC 408. Actual song's tune original.
06
Thillana thillana [Film: Muthu]
The opening African female humming is ripped off from Deep Forests 'Night Bird'.
Listen to Thillana thillana | Night bird
[i2fs] comments: Oh sure, ripped. Just that initial humming part. But if Deep Forest can rip off native African sounds....!
07
Poopookkum osai [Film: Minsara Kanavu]
The beats seem inspired from Lebo M's 'Rhythm of pride lands: Kube', which was last part of the Disney's Greatest Pop hits collection.
Listen to Poopookkum osai | Rhythm of pride lands: Kube
[i2fs] comments: The beats are sure inspired. As usual the tune remains very original.
08
Thenmerku paruvakkaatru [Film: Karuthamma]
The beats are similar to a track by Dr Alban, 'Om we rembwe ike'. Note that Dr Alban himself uses a lot of commercially available loops and CDs to create songs!
Listen to Thenmerku paruvakaatru | Om we rembwe ike
[i2fs] comments: The beats are sure inspired. As usual the tune remains very original. The 'yei nee romba azhaga irukke' song, 'Poi sollalaam' uses similar beats!
09
Paarkadhey [Film: Gentleman]
Alleged to be inspired from the Osibisa number 'Kelele'
Listen to Paarkadhey | Kelele
[i2fs] comments: You decide!
10
Ekamevadhvitheeyam - Theme music from Baba [Film: Baba]
Inspired from the the background music of The Untouchables (1987).
Listen to Ekamevadhvitheeyam | Al Capone (The Untouchables)
[i2fs] comments: 'Ekamevadhvitheeyam' means "there is only one paramatma, no second entity". This song opens almost exactly like the prominent score from the cult classic 'The Untouchables' with music by Ennio Morricone. Why Rahman chose to lift this so blatantly really beats me, even if figures in Baba for a few fleeting seconds! In the soundtrack of The Untouchables, this tune plays almost throughout the movie, more so for the softer/sadder moments! I'm adding the track called 'Al Capone' which probably brings out the copy best, in my opinion! Tip: Play the Baba number in full volume, the opening plays in very low volume!
11
Pudhu Vellai Mazhai [Film: Roja (1992)]
A really interesting find! Yanni's track, 'Quiet Man', from his album 'Reflections of Passion' (1990) has a particular crescendo part which sounds suspiciously similar to a crescendo part in A R Rahman's Roja song 'Pudhu vellai mazhai' ('yeh haseen vaadiyaan')! Listen to the tracks and decide - for your listening comfort, I've also posted the relevant portions from each track which sounds similar apart from 2 minute sound clips from the beginning! Though, it'd be unfair to claim that Rahman 'lifted' only that portion to incorporate in a Raag Kaanada based track in Roja, the similarity of that crescendo is uncanny!
Listen to Quiet man | Pudhu vellai mazhai [Relevant portions which sound similar]
Listen to Quiet man | Pudhu vellai mazhai [2 minute clips from the beginning]
NOW WHO WILL LIST THE 1000's OF FOLK SONGS THAT MY SON HAS LIFTED?
- From: Karthik S (@ 164.164.82.29)

With all due respects to musio, statements like 'Bombay theme music is lifted from wyatt earp' and 'chikku bukku inspired by a british airways commercial' are terribly hollow. It'd only help reduce the credibility of the person posting it. Also, these have been discussed for ages but nobody has amanged to prove them with musical clips so far, so till that I feel we should give the benefit of doubt to the composer, whoever it might be.

With all due apologies to Karthik, I wish to state that the list was compiled (inspired!) from various source of information, discussed in several threads of newtfmpage and some taken from iespana. I have never mentioned all the facts are true but only consolidated the list for our constructive discussion apt for this thread. Take it easy. Thank u for your clarifications of 2 of the songs from the compiled list. The information was taken from http://www.newtfmpage.com/copied/ under 'to be confirmed column'.

There are 100s or useless students of my son...Some have come good as nice MDs...like VS , MS and others. ARR is not my son's student and my son did not teach any mukka paya.
I am least bothered about who is best right now. I now feel that the one mistake that I did was to give birth to such a child who inspite of his great knowledge, does not have the humility to respect others. Not even his guru. My son has taken inspiration from various sources like folk and carnatic but has not done any thing constructive for that. Those art forms have not grown to the level which is atleast 5% of what he himself has grown to.
Now he is planning to compose thiruvasagam in symphony....to whom? Westerners won't unserstand and need not appriciate as there are 100000 of people like this who compose symp..day in and day out . If it is for the Indians then why not make it in some thing that we appriciate, the music form that we know. All that he is doing is to grab and loot away the money which he gets from various sources and say that he couldn't release his symp. because he couldn't get the right people to play it. Where is his first symphony? As a father even I don't know what's in his mind. From family sources, I came to know that his first symphony fell flat as egg on his face.
I am also woorried about fans like many here who for a generation have been brain washed and cheated that they don't accept any raw talent.
Many have his fans like him have pervert sexual desires and they exhibit that here...Too bad.
