Jay:
You have drawn a bit more attention with your humble opinion:-)) I don't know if it's a milestone as I consider it as somebody's spontaneous ecstatic expression - factors for such expression involves deeply how you could relate to such music. I am sure even the composer doesn't feel that it's his masterpiece...he just expressed his outlook of folk. BTW, I don't agree that it's just a cluster instruments playing indian tune and doesn't have different styles...It's one of the ways how it could be presented as a Fusion. If you have a different way - go ahead show it we will enjoy that also...Hmmm I want to listen to your presentation of "ONAM Boat Festival" and "Guruvayur Elephant Parade" and Kerala Rains - present the nature in it's TRUE sense. Make us feel them as you perceived! Seriously that will be cool...Show KERALA for us. Looking forward for it. I am sure that at the end of your genuine attempt...you will apreciate what srikanth has done...

Aditya

for a composer everything he does is a master piece. I take the same care for each score i do
any way as i have mentioned this is an experimental stuff, like i have used ragas like andolika which is often heard in tribal song . Frankly I did a small scale reasearch on various folk music before composing this.
Anyway Thanks for your comments.

Aditya,
I think Jay was trying to tell us that the instruments/styles used in the song isn't quite what he would call "Fusion". Even I kind of felt the same way - but Srikanth may have had different idea when he composed this piece. Let us not disregard Jay's opinions - and at the same time let these opinions not be taken as discouragement.
Jay has a lot to comment here in the future, and we welcome his opinions.

Swamiji:
I welcome everybody's opinion...please don't misunderstand that I meant it to hurt anybody. I am just encouraging guys to make more music that we can be proud of...It's a music for pleasure...if Jay makes excellent music based on the theme that I suggested...won't we be happy...it boils down to that...Motivation is the prime element in composing a theme!
comment, I am sorry man - I used a wrong word masterpiece...you're right! yes ofcourse you took the same care...I liked it though.
Jay, don't consider me that I have disregarded your opinion...I respect your opinion...but gave more focus on wanting to listen what you mean by fusion...go ahead with ur presentation that's all!
Hope no more misunderstandings!

Aditya

Guys:
I really mean what I am saying...
If Srikanth was asked to make music for Alam Aara ( I guess this is the first indian movie )...he would do it this way and still make us listen till 2001...I believe doing simple things with a great electronic gadgets is not a joke...It sounds simple but I can imagine that it's the most difficult job...these electronic gadgets are capable of distracting you or sometimes ease you to do something called popular music. When you sit on these KB, they ease and inspire popular music - it sounds so good that you fix it - And so you continue composing popular music.
You need to be very strong to make it sound so simple...Good Job! Question is not whether this can be achieved with Acoustic Instruments playing live - challenge is with the resources - where can we get such folk artists in this Hitech era. And to rely on the electronic gadgets to play folk, they are so naive that they might drive you to make popular stuff...Congratulations Srikanth you bridged this gap!

Aditya

I liked it...that sustain guitar seems to be a counter part of our Tambura. Anyway very good action stuff...Shuffled rhythms with good basslines makes it more punchy...Good Job.

Your veena piece was excellent. My ears were refreshed after hearing natural sounds :) and you have played it really well, that too with a high shuruti, like I think it was in bflat (if my ears are right:). Keep up the good work and convey my regards to your guru.
Rjay, i need to hear it, i will post the feed back as soon has I hear it.

UV and Srikanth:
Thanks! Veena is a most versatile instrument, I feel it's versatility is explored only 1% till now. My guru is my dad besides teaching being instrumental in making me understand certain subtleties of veena and in general about Music.
Guys, I guess my dad would love to see me playing veena full time as a profession...I broke the family tradition to get into Engineering as a profession. I feel guilty sometimes though, so I wanted to gift him an album where I play it myself and give what I have been doing on the otherside of carnatic music. This work is a milestone in my personal life...Hope I will be successful...i feel because of this cause, i think some great force is supporting me a lot.

Aditya

Aditya, UV, Thanks for listening and the comments. Aditya, I will listen to your pieces today.
Best wishes for your work Aditya. Your melodies are very nice and spontaneous, which is the rare combination. Taking up engineering, there is more chance to fulfill one's ambitions! As you had previously posted, the goal is to use technology but go beyond it and touch the source of all nostalgia!

Aditya,
Cool man.. Nice to know that we have a Veena player in this DF. Don't worry.. one day there will be a heavy demand for Veena players.. Just imagine, if a Veenai player with 5 years experiance paid $100,000 per annum...!!
Shall we try a Veenai & Piano Duet?

Your wish made me think. Should all of us put our heads together and craft a POP hit in the U.S.?
PS: I am known for wild ideas...

RJay,
IMHO Pop is becoming very mechanical. On July 4th, I was watching the NY fireworks, Both the latest music and fireworks did not go together at all.. It was very effective when an Old Anthem was played with a huge orchestra...
We'll try something else!! Right now, let us not worry about covering huge number of audiences.

AdithyA: the dance number piece is really good. the other one classicalfolk (or something like that) has a simple (hence?) beautiful :-) melody. your fingers sound "rigid" in the middle. please check that out. also, kudos for the very good mixing of the two tracks. (do you really have to do this and make us all feel nostalgic and down? :-)) )
why do you always make only short pieces? please try to compose a fullfledged piece and share.

Naveen:
Great playing! I enjoyed it thoroughly...as again you're back with a haunting piano melody...
I wish somebody pays you and comment 200000$ per annum each to make you guys devote full time to music...We can expect haunting melodies more frequently.
Regards,
Aditya
