A.R.Rahman was earlier approached for the music of the film, but when he refused, Verma personally headed down south to woo the southern legend.
Vaastu Shastra is being directed by Saurabh Narang, produced by K. Sera Sera and Ram Gopal Verma and stars Sushmita Sen, Chakravarthy, Piya Rai Chaudhary and Purab Kohli.

The public neither cares about IR's music nor ARR's music any more. Idhula yaar better'nu comparison vera. People like VS, Bhardwaj, HJ, YSR are more popular with public than these two. Of course, hard core fans will never get it into their heads, a bunch of losers.

Digression:
"People like VS, Bhardwaj, HJ, YSR are more popular with public than these two."
cc,
oru chinna correction: Public do not even know (or care) who the MD is for many of the songs churned out by VS/HJ/YSR/BW, even though the songs themselves may be popular...adhu thAn nijam...I've often seen listeners crediting some of HJ's songs to ARR ("ennA arumaiyA ARR pOttirukkAru pAthiyA":-) The reason is obvious as all these MDs try similar `mixture / concoction' and there's no distinct identity at all...
I think the situation is somewhat like early 70's when the public didn't care about who the MD was...an average listener would have credited vijayabhaskar / VK / KVM song to MSV often...
another similarity with early 70's was the popularity of Hindi songs / BoneyM (often people used to snob with these than listen to TFM)...Now the situation appears similar, though the accepance is for a different package - unclear thanglish lines, northie singers, borrowed loops and sounds / cut-paste music etc...none cares about authenticity or maN maNam...naturally, no focus on the creator too, as all are considered to be `re-mixers':-) ARR still tries to do something original or innovative but unfortunately do not have enough time (at his working speed) and numbers or willingness on the part of producers to accept (refer his lamentation to SPB as published in Kumudam) which can result in a tangible trend change :-(
...the change in the attitude of the public is sudden and unfortunate...most just want some foot-tapping numbers for the day and that's about it...that, however, is different from early 70's, i.e. no longevity / emotional attachment / appreciation for finer details etc...Hope someone will reverse the trend with some freshness & authenticity...

Has IR been signed up for this BGM only stuff by RGV? Is there going to be a Tamil version too?

According to the storyline this movie is about a coupled who didn;t believe in Vastu Shastra and built their house in the farm...and being disturbed by spirit....
this is just a propaganda to promote Vastu Shastra.....so will IR be part of this scandal....
that is the main reason why ARR backed out....
if he could find time for JB and BF (obviously not a classic movies, why would he reject RGV?)...

paran,
Vastu shastra is a hot concept in Tamil nadu right now, there are lots of people who spend a few lakhs to re-model their homes. I wont be surprised if the movie title alone brings crowds to the theaters :-)

I think RGV has signed IR for his BGM skills,It is not a disrespect to him but just look at the kind of songs clicking these days. There are all made to please the young college/IT/BPO crowd, relevance to the story be damned.I doubt if IR will fit in,YSR definitely will. There is no tamil version but there is a telegu one titled 'Marrichettu'(Excuse me if i have got the word wrong).

Ramgopal Verma has signed up Sushmita Sen for his new film 'Vaastushastra'. Sushmita Sen, whose career is on a big revival after the very sexy and sultry performance in the film 'Main Hoon Na', has been signed up by Ramgopal Verma for his new film 'Vaastushastra'. But, the film is hitting the headlines for a different reason.
Ramgopal Verma had initially wanted to sign up his favorite AR Rehman as the music composer for the film. But, for various reasons, Rehman was not able to accept the offer. He has now decided to approach Ilayaraaja. These days, Ilayaraaja doesn't accept any new film that easily, but Ramgopal Verma wasn't going to be discouraged that easily either.
After long talks and convincing, Ilayaraja has finally accepted to compose music for the film.
Chakravarthy plays the hero in the film.

Ghj, thanks for the news ! Finally, we've got to hear that IR *has accepted*. Hopefully IR gets inspired by the movie to give a great/grand BGM. The movie theme seems to have a big scope for BGM. Is this a telugu or hindi or bilingual movie? Will there be any songs (apart from BGM)?

"See Ramu with Bhoot, what class films"
Bhoot in no way a class film. It is an average horror flick, inspired from many many hollywood movies, right from "The Exorcist" to "Stir of Echoes". And the climax made it look like a B-grade horror movie.
"These days, Ilayaraaja doesn't accept any new film that easily"
Cool joke man. The truth is that it is the other way round.

See 1000s will try to seevify their thalai but none can be Rajini and none can repeat that...Ex..this karadi, vijay and this elumbu koodu dhanush all try to be rajni one way or other...but none can..That's the fun...Many don't dare to try kamal...same case was when Sivaji was there...History says that Sivaji is the best actor ever...but the curent generation has an opinion that Kamal is the best....If you talk to guys who are in schools now...tehy say kamal overact and kisses...Vikamis the best...
But still MGR and Rajni has their own place..many try to ape them but no...none can..
