Kupps
my contention is, ur statement doesn't satisfy to negate eden's claim. "Look, it has been done before, may be better" is not enough to disprove that IR is the King in emotion songs.
It is more that enough Kupps. My contention is that when someone has done equal or better than someone else, that someone else cannot claim to Kingship.
What you are saying is similar to T Rajendar is the King of film making, because he has done acting, singing, directing, lyrics-writing, story-writing, etc etc.
What I am doing is showing you better actors, singers, directors, lyricists, story-writers, etc.
This being so, how can T Rajender be called the King of film making?
Hope I have made my point clear. :)
.... show that a pre-IR MD who has done more emotion songs(more emotion songs include different types of emotion songs, done better than IR in a particular emotion in many songs).
I could easily do it, but I am not choosing that path. I believe MSV has done almost all kind of emotions.
Wud u say that all others collectively do better than the person in question?
Toyota produces the most number of cars in the world. As such they also produce the most number of brakes. Can we say that Toyota are the world's best brake producers? What about the Volvos & BMWs, who have a better "braking" record?
... in some instances u may/can quote a better peer in pre-IR era.
Now we are heading somewhere. When someone has done better than us, can we claim to be the King because of numbers?
WhyNot
Thanks for the support.
Was getting a little lonely here. Although I must admit, barring the initial stages, every one has been in their best behaviour, including (in all modesty) yours truly. :)

so what is the point ? *WE* will still say IR is the *undisputed KING* and *OTHERS* will say "NO WAY" ...Sabesan
...Don't come to a conclusion so fast. As at now, there has not been a single song given by me that has been refuted... rotfl
Is there a connection between what Sabesan said and your reply? please read what he said clearly! We still maintain that IR is the *UNDISPUTED KING* and you are still arguing that *HE IS NOT*. So what is wrong with his conclusion? Do you always shoot first and ask questions later? or do you just keep shooting and dont even bother to ask questions?!

Going by the number of songs you have listed, I know you believe quantity = quality, but this is too much! :)

Looks like Tigger is getting hot under the collar. :)
vaanam thottu pona engey, intha aaru paadalgalum enge!
I can only show you the way Tigger. But if you refuse to see, than too bad.
Let us see whether any other IR fan agrees with what you say.
I listed songs that evoked strong emotions, not just songs that showed emotions on screen.
I haven't seen the movie either.
Poovile medai evoked greater feelings in me than malarum malaraadha.
I suggest you listen to Malarum malaraatha paathi malar pola again. Pay attention to the music, lyrics and singing.
You comparison is similar to someone saying that Athaandaa ithaandaa evokes the same emotion as Pothuvaaga emanasu thangam. :)
machi, emotions does not mean ONLY crying. that's what I meant by being subtle.
I wish Leoni was here to show subtle emotions. :)
The more we know, the more we realise how little we know. :)
Don't quote me; that was for people who know more, not for those who think they know more. :)
..I also know that such stuff has been done equally well, if not better, before and after IR...
...What I am trying to say is "Look, it has been done before, may be better..." ...
from "done equally well", you have come down to "done before".
Tigger, stop misquoting me. Both my statements above do not differ much. Very soon you will end up being Misquoting Mannan Tigger. :)
Let me make one thing clear - if you claim later in some thread that I said IR "introduced" emotional songs, I'll surely blow up.
Misquoting seems to be your area of speciality.
Look Tigger, I am having a decent discussion, and don't want to be drawn into petty mud sliging.
Hope you will cooperate.

Tigger, you seem to have a comprehension problem.
My reply to Sabesan was not to arrive at the conclusion that both sides may end up with different views, quoting that the "other side" has not refuted whatever I have said, meaning they may agree with my view.
Hey, I am optimistic.
Even if some people won't want to admit in this forum, there may be some people who genuinely do not know the existence of similar and/or better songs in the past.
you always shoot first and ask questions later? or do you just keep shooting and dont even bother to ask questions?!
Depends on who is on the other end. Going by your recent posts, if you were on the other end, I would do the latter. :)

Looks like you are grasping for straws. Tigger, don't stoop too low... please.
As for the number of songs I have listed, well, you can;t eat and hve the cake too. Puriyala? Meesaikku koolukkum aasai pada koodaathu.

I cut and pasted from your post. What WHAT IS THERE TO MISQUOTE? Do you know the meaning of "QUOTE"? BTW there is a subtle but very important difference between your 2 sentences. That has always been your modus operandi.
..Look Tigger, I am having a decent discussion, and don't want to be drawn into petty mud sliging...
this is not mud-slinging. I was just going by your past history. I dont want you later on claiming that I said "IR introduced emotional songs".
Don't quote me; that was for people who know more, not for those who think they know more. :)
applies exactly to you.

betrayal by family:
annan enna thambi enna - dharmadorai.
oora therinjukittaen - padikathavan.
situkku sella situkku - nallavanukku nallavan
Rajini's movies usually have great songs of this type.
