why IRcan't achieve national awards?

IR is a music genius.still today he is unbeatable in BGMs.eventhough he done saga musics in some films like SIRSICHALAI,HEY RAM,SETHU.AZHAGI,
he cannot achieve national awards frequently,
shall we discuss why it happens?

  OK FRENDS I GUESS NO ONE IS AWARE WHY ILAYARAAJA IS NOT RECOGNISED IN INDIA---------THE STORY BEHIND IT IS ONCE JAYALALITHA VISITED PRASAD STUDIOS,AS ALWAYS EVERYONE WAS ASKED TO WALK FROM THE STREET CORNER TO THIER WORKPLACE INSIDE THE STUDIO WHICH WAS 1 KM AWAY,RAAJA CAME EARLY MORNING AT 7 FOR HIS DAILY WORK,HE WAS STOPPED BY THE COPS AND WAS ASKED TO WALK DOWN TO THE STUDIO.RAAJA REFUSED AND CALLED THE STUDIO GUYS ,THEY DIDNT WANT TO RUB JAYA IN THE WRONG SIDE AND TOLD RAAJA THEY CANT HELP HIM,SO RAAJA TOLD THEM A GOOD BYE AND TOLD THE COPS HE CANT WALK AND DROVE BACK HOME,THE NEXT DAY HE CHANGED THE STUDIO FROM PRASAD TO AVM AND OBVIOUSLY A INSULTED JAYA TAKES REVENGE BY DECLARING ARR CONTINUOSLY FOR STATE AWARDS.THE SAME PERIOD RAAJA CAME OUT WITH THE SYMPHONY AND THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT INVITED HIM TO BE A MAYOR FOR A DAY FOR HIS RECOGNITION AND THE STATE GOVERNMENT UNDER JAYA NOT EVEN CONGRAGULATE HIM,FOR ALL OF U WHO DINT KNOW THIS ,REASON Y ARR IS GIVEN SO MUCH HYPE WITHOUT KNOWING MUSIC AND REASON Y RAAJA IS IGNORED IS ALL POLITICS.WHO CARES ABOUT NATIONAL AWARDS,I DONT COMPARE IT EVEN TO A CINEMA EXPRESS AWARD,RAAJA LIVES IN HIS FANS HEART FOR THE PAST 30 YEARS WHICH IS THE GREATEST AWARD HE HAS ACHIEVED,,,,,,,BYE

  Stop you brain and just think atleast once in your lifetime. I meant songs that appeal to a wider section, cross section of people, not only to few, when compared with majority in India.
  IR has not been able to compose songs that can cross highly different north and south culture..Period..Accept it. It is not an accusition, but a mere statement of fact. ARR has done that, he has also dished out an Indian Curry to English man, whether you like that or not, English are having that meal with eager. Got it.

  What is its position in billboard charts? When he can't satisfy his own fans how can he cross? Other day i was having discussions bunch of north indians. Their opinion is ARR is doing nothing but recycling. I didn't even force an opinion on them. When they said this i was surprised that finally these north indians got some sense. He happened to score for MR movies. That's why he got into limelight. ARR's music has most defenitely not reached the remot villages of TamilNadu. His reach looks large because of media publicity and his association with MR. Most defenitely he is a man of marketing skills. Nothing else. He is neither talented nor gifted.
  He just dishes out pop tunes stolen from various music. Daler Mehendi is as famous as ARR. I used to listen to his songs. That doesn't mean he has crossed. Why is that he is not able to convert IR fans into his fans? Tell me!!! If his music is that good why is that not possible? Defenitely i don't get money from IR. I am not a servant for IR.

  Not really. ARR and Rajini made (more than) their share of money. It will be a big let down for the music lovers not for Rajini fans. Rajini fans will forget about everything once they see their thalaivar.

  Now in this marketing yuga, many things other than raw talent gets better recognition. For example, in sun or any other sat tv some junk lady saying at the end of the program... this is sori nayeee signing off... as if they are giving program for mtv.. IR has dedicated his life to Music and waste no time in jalra thattal (eg. VM). Even the look matters (Britney album sells more for postures than for music). Even this forum most of the ARR fans commenting village folks means some rubbish entity only city that too US returned are the greatest music lovers. People speaking nuni naaku english, style gets cheap attraction. IR never bothered about looks or networking.. Because of these alone NA awards are not given. Because of this only greats like sivaji didnt get national award. This is a loss for NA not of IR

Ilaiyaraaja : I have not been recognised by this Government to which I pay my tax happily. The national awards don't mean much. It made no difference to me. The only recognition I have is that South Indians throughout the world listen to my music. But this doesn't help me even buy a train ticket on the emergency quota ! I don't have any good quality instruments to record my music. I cannot even get the basic requirements to function as a musician.   Let's be aware that genius MSV who has been forerunner of tfm , in the field for almost more than 30 years, did not get any national award. How ironical it is! This is the biggest skew and this explains why (national) awards are NOTHING.

  1.the answers are simple .The national awards are based on songs and not for BGM's .Illas is great in BGM ,but the same cannot be said of songs (from 1994 onwards).The fact that he is the only asian to have done a symphony proves this .Eveen AR Rehman who has a greater international aapeal than ILAS did not get an opportunity to do symphony .
  2.Secondly ,there may be bias in the national commitee.If no one forwrads the name of illayaraja from the state how can he get it in the national.

  Please do not have any illusion. ARR not being called is the fact. It is as fact as IR only approached RPH to play his symphony. I Read the letter in some link at Raajangam.com. It was clearly mentioned that "RPH was commissioned to play his symphony". So IR paid money and asked RPH to play his piece. Not the other way round.
  
  Now, talking your argument, if RPH had called Ir to compose symphony, then they did not release it even after 10 years proves that they do not want to spoil their image. So, seeing from all corners, IR seems to have slipped deep down into a gutter of symphony scandal.
  
  He made his own celebrations...and boy...fooled one and all.
